5 Chinese Motorcycles We’d Buy (And 5 We Wouldn’t)

Chinese motorcycles can offer impressive hardware and pricing, but U.S. support varies widely. Here are five we’d buy and five we’d avoid today.

Chinese motorcycles are no longer a single category defined by cheap components and uncertain support. CFMOTO, Kove, QJMotor, and other manufacturers now build bikes with serious engines, suspension, electronics, and market-specific certification. The more important question for a U.S. buyer is not simply whether a motorcycle was built in China. It is whether the exact model is officially sold here, backed by a usable warranty, and supported by a dealer that can actually obtain parts.

Using that standard, these are five Chinese motorcycles we would consider buying new in the United States—and five we would leave alone for now. “Wouldn’t buy” means we would not purchase that motorcycle new in the U.S. today. It is not a verdict on the model’s engineering or performance in other markets.

What makes a Chinese motorcycle worth buying?

For this list, a motorcycle needed more than an impressive specification sheet. We looked for an identifiable U.S. distributor or dealer, published U.S. pricing or specifications, and a realistic route to warranty repairs and replacement parts.

That distinction matters. A motorcycle may be fully legitimate in Europe or Asia yet be a poor choice for an American owner if its manufacturer has no U.S. importer, no diagnostic support, and no reliable parts pipeline. The same manufacturer may sell one model here while leaving another available only through gray-market imports.

Dealer presence also requires some investigation. A powersports dealer listed in a manufacturer’s locator may sell ATVs, side-by-sides, or other equipment without stocking or servicing every motorcycle model. Before buying, confirm that the location works on motorcycles and can order parts for the exact model year.

Five Chinese motorcycles we’d buy

1. CFMOTO 450MT

The CFMOTO 450MT is one of the most convincing value propositions in the current Chinese-motorcycle market. Its 449cc liquid-cooled parallel twin produces a claimed 31 kW—approximately 42 horsepower—and 42 Nm of torque. A six-speed transmission, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, KYB suspension, traction control, and switchable rear ABS give it equipment that is useful beyond appearance.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The adjustable seat is listed at 800 or 820 mm, which helps make the bike more approachable than many full-size adventure motorcycles. The wheel sizes and suspension hardware also suggest that CFMOTO designed it for actual unpaved riding rather than simply adding a tall windscreen and adventure-style bodywork to a street bike.

Specifications can vary by region, so U.S. equipment and pricing should be confirmed with a local dealer. CFMOTO’s U.S. dealer locator is a positive sign, but not every listed dealer necessarily stocks or services every motorcycle. We would call before signing paperwork and ask specifically about motorcycle technicians, diagnostic equipment, scheduled maintenance, and parts ordering.

Why it makes the list

  • Useful 21/18-inch adventure wheel sizes
  • KYB suspension and modern electronic aids
  • Manageable 449cc engine size
  • Adjustable seat height
  • Official U.S. distribution rather than a private import

2. 2026 CFMOTO 675SS

The 2026 CFMOTO 675SS is currently listed by U.S. dealers at $7,999. It uses a 675cc inline-three engine and has an 810.3mm seat height. CFMOTO positions it against bikes such as the Triumph Daytona 660, Honda CBR650R, and Suzuki GSX-8R.

The appeal is straightforward: a distinctive three-cylinder engine and modern sport-bike performance at a price below many established-brand alternatives. The engine configuration alone gives the 675SS a character that is difficult to find at this price. It is not merely an inexpensive parallel twin with aggressive bodywork.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buyers should use the exact current model year when comparing prices. Older articles may refer to a 2025 675SS or quote a different MSRP. Dealer pricing can also exclude destination, setup, freight, documentation, taxes, and registration fees.

Why it makes the list

The 675SS offers enough mechanical identity and performance to stand on its own, while its official U.S. dealer listings provide a more credible ownership path than an imported Chinese-market sport bike.

3. 2026 CFMOTO 800NK

The 2026 CFMOTO 800NK is currently listed by U.S. dealers at $8,699. It is a naked motorcycle powered by a 799cc parallel twin, with current dealer inventory appearing in multiple states.

Its strongest argument is that it avoids unnecessary complexity. A naked bike is easier to live with than a fully faired sport bike when low-speed drops, routine maintenance, or bodywork costs are considered. It also avoids the size and expense of a large adventure motorcycle while offering substantially more performance than a typical entry-level twin.

There is one piece of misinformation worth correcting: CFMOTO motorcycles should not casually be described as using “KTM-built engines.” CFMOTO has a close KTM relationship, but earlier testing reported that CFMOTO manufactures its own engines. The relationship and technical cooperation are real; that does not make the engine a KTM-built unit.

Why it makes the list

  • 799cc engine in a relatively simple naked-bike format
  • Current U.S. dealer inventory and published pricing
  • Strong performance potential without superbike-level cost
  • Less bodywork and adventure equipment to complicate ownership

4. 2026 Kove 800X Pro

The 2026 Kove 800X Pro is being sold in the United States, with a California dealer listing a new example at $11,299. It uses a 799cc parallel twin, KYB suspension, 21/18-inch wheels, Pirelli tires, and a claimed 95 horsepower. A California Air Resources Board executive order also lists the model as an approved new on-road motorcycle.

The 800X Pro’s attraction is its combination of engine performance and off-road hardware. It is unusually serious for an 800cc adventure bike, particularly for riders who care about low weight and rougher terrain rather than just highway comfort and luggage capacity.

We would be careful not to transfer every review of an earlier Kove 800X directly to the 2026 Pro. Earlier testing and owner reports have raised questions about throttle calibration, parts availability, and dealer familiarity. Those reports justify checking the exact model year and local support; they do not establish a universal defect.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Kove directs customers to authorized dealers for sales, service, and parts. That makes the dealer relationship especially important. We would want written confirmation that the local shop can perform warranty work and obtain model-specific components before taking delivery.

Why it makes the list

The 800X Pro has credible U.S. sales documentation, road-approval evidence, serious suspension, and a specification sheet aimed at riders who actually leave the pavement. It is a buy—but only from a dealer prepared to support it.

5. QJMotor SRK400RR

QJMotor’s U.S. distributor lists the SRK400RR at $5,099, plus destination charges. The fully faired sport bike uses a 400cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, a six-speed transmission, an inverted fork, dual front brake discs, ABS, and a claimed 44.2 horsepower.

That is useful equipment for an approachable middleweight sport bike. More importantly, it is an actual U.S.-distributed motorcycle rather than a Chinese-market model being offered through an unofficial importer. QJMotor USA publishes a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty for its U.S. models.

The warranty is shorter than coverage offered by some competitors, so buyers should factor that into the price comparison. “Supported” does not mean “covered forever.” Read the warranty terms, identify the authorized repair location, and ask how warranty parts are handled if the selling dealer is not nearby.

Why it makes the list

The SRK400RR delivers a reasonable engine size, modern chassis equipment, and a clear U.S. distribution channel for $5,099 before destination charges. That combination makes it one of the easier Chinese motorcycles to justify as a new purchase.

Five Chinese motorcycles we wouldn’t buy in the U.S. today

1. Voge RR660S

The Voge RR660S is a legitimate Loncin/Voge motorcycle, but Voge’s current global website does not show a U.S. retail model page or an established American dealer channel. Earlier reporting also identified Voge as unavailable in the United States.

We are not rejecting its engine, styling, or performance potential. We are rejecting the ownership situation. Without a clearly established U.S. distributor, warranty procedure, and parts network, a crash or electrical problem could turn an attractive sport bike into a long-term garage project.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Voge DS900X

The Voge DS900X appears in Voge’s global lineup, but the official site does not establish a current U.S. sales channel. That makes it unsuitable as a straightforward American alternative to the CFMOTO 800MT, Kove 800X Pro, or QJMotor SRT750X.

A specification sheet cannot provide bodywork, electronic modules, warranty labor, or diagnostic software. Unless Voge establishes an official U.S. importer and support structure, we would not purchase this adventure bike new in America.

3. CFMOTO 500SR Voom

The CFMOTO 500SR Voom is one of the more interesting Chinese-market sport bikes, but CFMOTO’s presence in the United States does not automatically make every global model available here. The U.S. evidence reviewed for this article establishes current dealer listings for models such as the 675SS and 800NK, not a retail 500SR Voom launch.

Importing one privately could create problems with registration, emissions compliance, warranty coverage, and parts. Regional model ranges are not identical, and an American CFMOTO dealer may be unable—or unwilling—to support a motorcycle never sold through its U.S. channel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. QJMotor SRK600RC

QJMotor has a broad international lineup, but QJMotor USA’s current list includes models such as the SRF135, SRV300, SRK400, SRK400RR, SRV550, SRK700, and SRT750X—not the SRK600RC.

That is enough reason to wait. The international SRK600RC is not automatically covered by QJMotor USA’s warranty or parts system. A private import may be possible, but “possible” is not the same as sensible for a motorcycle intended to be ridden and repaired in the United States.

5. Kove 450 Rally EX

The Kove 450 Rally platform has credible competition history and has received positive attention from specialist motorcycle media. The 450 Rally EX is nevertheless a specialized rally-derived machine, not an obvious general-purpose commuter or touring motorcycle.

Earlier testing reported harsh suspension calibration compared with KYB, Showa, or WP equipment, a head-shake incident, and a test-bike failure that the article explicitly noted. Those reports do not prove that every example will fail, but they are enough to make us cautious about using one for long-distance travel without strong local support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

We would not buy the 450 Rally EX as a blind purchase. A buyer would need a nearby dealer, a clear parts supply, and a careful pre-purchase inspection. Its competition credentials do not erase the compromises of a lightweight rally machine on ordinary roads.

How to check a Chinese motorcycle before buying

  1. Confirm the exact model year. Do not rely on a review or listing for a previous version. The current examples discussed here include the 2026 CFMOTO 675SS, 2026 CFMOTO 800NK, and 2026 Kove 800X Pro.
  2. Check the U.S. distributor’s model page. A global manufacturer website is not proof that the motorcycle is sold in America.
  3. Call the dealer’s service department. Ask whether it services motorcycles, has factory diagnostic equipment, and can order parts for the exact VIN and model year.
  4. Get the out-the-door price. The advertised price may exclude destination, freight, setup, documentation, tax, registration, and accessories.
  5. Read the warranty. QJMotor USA, for example, publishes 12 months/12,000 miles. Compare the term, exclusions, authorized repair process, and transportation responsibilities.
  6. Ask about common maintenance items. Confirm availability of filters, brake pads, levers, plastics, sensors, and engine-specific components before buying.
  7. Verify road legality. A foreign-market motorcycle may not meet U.S. emissions, lighting, labeling, or registration requirements even if it is mechanically identical to a U.S. model.

The larger picture

“Chinese-made” is not a useful quality rating by itself. CFMOTO, Kove, QJMotor, Loncin/Voge, and Benda are different manufacturers or brands with different engineering, distribution, warranty, and parts arrangements.

Long-term reliability and resale data are also less established for many of these motorcycles than for the Japanese Big Four. Favorable short test rides are encouraging, but they cannot prove a decade of durability. The safest purchases are therefore the models with the strongest combination of current U.S. availability, dealer competence, warranty documentation, and parts access—not necessarily the motorcycles with the most dramatic specifications.

FAQ

Are Chinese motorcycles reliable?

Some current Chinese motorcycles perform well and offer strong equipment for the money, but long-term reliability and resale histories are generally less established than those of Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki. Reliability depends on the specific manufacturer, model, dealer support, maintenance, and parts availability.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which Chinese motorcycle brands are officially sold in the U.S.?

CFMOTO, Kove, and QJMotor have identifiable U.S. sales channels for at least some motorcycle models. Availability varies by model and dealer, so confirm the exact motorcycle on the U.S. distributor’s website before buying.

Is CFMOTO the same company as QJMotor?

No. CFMOTO and QJMotor are separate brands with separate U.S. distribution operations. CFMOTO’s dealer network should not be assumed to support QJMotor motorcycles, and vice versa.

Should I import a Chinese motorcycle that is not sold in the U.S.?

Usually not unless you have verified registration and emissions compliance, parts access, diagnostic support, and a clear warranty arrangement. A motorcycle being sold legally in another country does not guarantee that it can be registered or supported in the United States.

The Bottom Line

We would buy a Chinese motorcycle when the product is compelling and the ownership infrastructure is real. The CFMOTO 450MT, 2026 675SS, 2026 800NK, 2026 Kove 800X Pro, and QJMotor SRK400RR all have identifiable U.S. sales evidence, but dealer competence still needs to be verified locally.

We would avoid the Voge RR660S, Voge DS900X, CFMOTO 500SR Voom, and QJMotor SRK600RC because they lack a clearly established U.S. retail and support path. We would also pass on the Kove 450 Rally EX unless our use case, local dealer, and parts access specifically justified its specialized design. The badge matters less than the support network behind the exact motorcycle.
