Terms for makers and advertisers
CarCody (carcody.com) is a Yorker Media site. These terms cover claiming a page and buying from CarCody; the site's general terms are on its terms and conditions page.
Reading CarCody
Car figures are the US EPA's, from fueleconomy.gov; software facts are each maker's own. We read them carefully and date them, but a maker can change a plan or a figure at any time. Check the maker's own page before you buy, and drive the car before you sign for it.
Claiming a page
A maker can claim the page of its own product for free and then keep what is theirs on it up to date — its description, logo, pictures, plans and the like — marked “Updated by the maker”. We check that the person claiming it works for the maker (a code to an address on the product's own domain, never a free mailbox, or a person who confirms it) before anything changes. CarCody's own words, the figures and prices it read, and its scores stay CarCody's.
Buying a place, a listing or a review
Prices are shown before you pay and do not include tax where tax applies. A monthly or yearly plan paid by card renews by itself until you cancel it; one paid by bank transfer or PayPal runs one term, and you order it again to keep it (its order page offers that a week before it ends). A once-only payment lasts while CarCody and the product are both on the site.
A listing goes live within two working days of payment; if it does not, ask for your money back and you get it in full. A place on a chart, a sponsored alternative and Page Protection go live when the payment is confirmed; if, by then, the place has gone to someone else or the rival's page has Page Protection, a person writes within one working day to move it or refund it in full. Page Protection keeps new sponsored alternatives off your product's pages from the day it starts; one a rival bought before then stays until the end of the term it was sold for. When a paid period ends without a renewal, the place comes down. CarCody may refuse or remove anything that breaks the law, misleads readers or is not about cars or car businesses, and refunds the unused part when it does.
