How Much Does a Tesla Cost in 2026? U.S. Prices, Fees and Ownership Costs

The cheapest new Tesla listed in the U.S. in 2026 is the Model 3 Standard RWD at $36,990 before destination fees, taxes and extras. Here are the current Tesla prices and the costs buyers should add before calculating an out-the-door budget.

The least expensive new Tesla listed for U.S. shoppers on August 11, 2026, is the Model 3 Standard RWD at $36,990 before destination and order fees, taxes, registration and other charges. Tesla lists the Model 3 Standard at $38,630 after its destination and order fees but before taxes and other fees. That is the closest thing to a true Tesla entry price—but it is not the final out-the-door amount.

Model Y pricing is less straightforward, Cybertruck pricing starts substantially higher, and Tesla’s Model S and Model X are no longer in production. Here is what each figure means and what to budget beyond the number shown on Tesla’s website.

2026 Tesla prices at a glance

The following figures apply to the U.S. market and reflect Tesla pricing information available on August 11, 2026. They are advertised starting prices, not universal out-the-door prices. Tesla’s pages do not always display fees in the same way, so the table separates the vehicle price from Tesla’s stated destination and order fees where the information is available.

Vehicle or configuration Advertised starting price Price including destination and order fees What to know
Model 3 Standard RWD $36,990 $38,630 Lowest new-Tesla entry price found in Tesla’s current model information. Taxes and other fees are not included.
Model 3 Premium RWD $42,490 $44,130 Taxes and other fees are not included.
Model 3 Premium AWD $47,490 $49,130 Taxes and other fees are not included.
Model 3 Performance AWD $54,990 $56,630 Taxes and other fees are not included.
Model Y Standard $39,990 Confirm in Tesla’s configurator Tesla identifies this as the entry-level Model Y price in a corporate filing. The final order screen should control the current amount.
Model Y L Premium $61,990 $63,630 Six-seat, long-wheelbase configuration; taxes and other fees are not included.
Cybertruck Premium AWD Not separately stated in the cited offer $82,235 Tesla states this starting purchase price including order and destination fees, before incentives, estimated gas savings, taxes and other fees.
Model S No current new-vehicle price — Tesla says Model S is no longer in production. Used and remaining inventory may still exist.
Model X No current new-vehicle price — Tesla says Model X is no longer in production. Used and remaining inventory may still exist.

These prices should not be read as a single, consistent Tesla-wide pricing format. For example, the Model 3 figures are shown both before and after Tesla’s order and destination fees, while the Cybertruck figure above already includes those fees. The Model Y Standard figure comes from Tesla’s corporate filing, and buyers should verify the amount displayed in the live configurator before placing an order.

How much does each Tesla cost?

Model 3: $36,990 to $54,990 before Tesla’s order and destination fees

The Model 3 is the clearest answer to the question “What is the cheapest Tesla in 2026?” Tesla lists four configurations:

  • Model 3 Standard RWD: $36,990, or $38,630 including the stated destination and order fees.
  • Model 3 Premium RWD: $42,490, or $44,130 including those fees.
  • Model 3 Premium AWD: $47,490, or $49,130 including those fees.
  • Model 3 Performance AWD: $54,990, or $56,630 including those fees.

The difference between the advertised price and the price including destination and order fees is $1,640 for each of these configurations. None of those figures includes sales tax, registration, title charges, optional equipment or other buyer-specific costs.

The Standard RWD is therefore a roughly $37,000 advertised car and a $38,630 car before government charges and extras. A buyer choosing the Performance AWD model starts at nearly $55,000 before those same costs.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Model Y: about $39,990 for the reported Standard entry point, but much more for the Model Y L Premium

Model Y pricing requires more caution. Tesla’s corporate filing identifies the Model Y Standard with a starting price of $39,990. That is the entry-level Model Y figure reported by Tesla, but buyers should confirm the final amount and fee treatment in the current U.S. configurator.

Tesla’s consumer-facing information also describes Model Y Premium, Model Y Performance and Model Y L Premium. The prominently displayed price for the Model Y L Premium is $61,990 before destination and order fees, or $63,630 including those fees and excluding taxes and other charges. The L Premium is a longer-wheelbase, six-seat configuration, so it should not be used as a stand-in for the price of every Model Y.

Tesla does not expose one consolidated U.S. price table for every Model Y trim in the available page information. That means a buyer comparing Model Y versions should rely on the configuration screen for the exact trim, options, delivery location and current incentives rather than assume that a price listed for the Standard or L Premium applies across the lineup.

Cybertruck: $82,235 including order and destination fees for the cited Premium AWD offer

Tesla’s current-offers financing terms state a starting purchase price of $82,235 for the Cybertruck Premium AWD, including order and destination fees. The figure excludes taxes and other fees, and it appears in a promotional lease or financing footnote rather than a standard all-model comparison table.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For that reason, $82,235 should be treated as Tesla’s stated starting purchase price for the referenced Cybertruck configuration—not as a universal price for every Cybertruck or a guarantee that the same number will appear for every buyer. Options, location, changing promotions and the exact purchase path can affect the final amount.

Model S and Model X: no current new-car MSRP

Model S and Model X should not be listed as regularly orderable new 2026 Teslas. Tesla’s current pages say both models are no longer in production. Buyers may still find used vehicles, demonstration cars or remaining inventory, but those listings are not equivalent to a current factory-new MSRP.

  • Indication Displays - LED display that can tell you the status as well as indicate errors while charging your electric vehicle.

If you see a Model S or Model X advertised for sale, check whether it is used, a demo vehicle or leftover inventory. Mileage, vehicle history, warranty status and inventory-specific pricing matter more than a discontinued model’s former list price.

What Tesla’s advertised price leaves out

A Tesla’s headline price is only one part of the purchase. The most useful way to compare prices is to keep three numbers separate:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Advertised vehicle price: the starting price for the selected configuration.
  2. Price after Tesla’s order and destination fees: the amount shown after the applicable Tesla fees, where provided.
  3. Out-the-door price: the amount you actually need to pay after taxes, registration, title charges, selected options, financing costs and other buyer-specific expenses.

Destination and order fees

Tesla describes the destination fee as the charge for shipping a vehicle from the factory to the delivery location. It is a non-negotiable charge on new Tesla orders. Depending on the page and configuration, Tesla may show destination and order fees separately from the advertised price or include them in a displayed starting purchase price.

Taxes, registration and government charges

Sales tax and registration fees depend on the buyer’s order details and location. Tesla says those amounts appear in the Tesla app and purchase documents as the order approaches final payment. A buyer in one state, county or city can therefore have a meaningfully different out-the-door price from someone ordering the same configuration elsewhere.

Options and accessories

Paint, wheels, interior upgrades, towing equipment and charging hardware can increase the price. Inventory vehicles can also have mileage-specific pricing or adjustments, especially when the vehicle is a demo. Do not compare a discounted or adjusted demo listing directly with the MSRP of a factory-new vehicle without accounting for mileage, condition and warranty differences.

Quick ownership-extras budget

For a Model 3 buyer, Tesla Model 3 floor mats are an example of an optional ownership accessory—not part of the vehicle’s advertised price. Check the model year, interior configuration and fitment before buying any third-party or marketplace accessory.

Federal EV incentives in 2026

Do not automatically subtract the former $7,500 federal new-EV tax credit from a 2026 Tesla price. The IRS says the New Clean Vehicle Credit, Previously-Owned Clean Vehicle Credit and Qualified Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit are unavailable for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.

A vehicle acquired on or before September 30, 2025, may remain eligible when placed in service later if it satisfies the applicable statutory requirements. That transition rule does not create a general federal purchase credit for a Tesla acquired in 2026.

A separate federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit may apply to qualifying home charging equipment and installation placed in service before July 1, 2026. Because the pricing date for this guide is August 11, 2026, a new installation made now falls outside that federal deadline. State, local, utility and business incentives can follow different rules, so check those programs independently rather than assume a national Tesla discount applies.

Tesla promotions are not the same as a lower MSRP

Tesla’s current-offers page advertises conditional incentives and financing promotions, which can include limited free Supercharging-mile promotions, a $500 American Heroes offer and promotional APR or lease terms. These offers can have expiration dates, trim restrictions, location restrictions, credit-approval requirements or other conditions.

Use a promotion to reduce the cost of an eligible transaction only after checking its terms. Do not describe a temporary offer as a permanent price cut, and do not subtract estimated gas savings from the purchase price as though they were cash paid by Tesla. Tesla qualifies those savings estimates, and actual fuel costs depend on the vehicle being replaced, gasoline prices, electricity rates and driving habits.

How financing changes what a Tesla costs

The cash price is not the same as the total amount paid when a Tesla is financed. Interest rate, down payment, loan term, taxes and fees all affect the final cost.

Tesla’s promotional financing terms are generally aimed at well-qualified buyers and can be limited to particular models or configurations. They are subject to credit approval and can change. A monthly payment that looks low may reflect a substantial down payment, a long repayment term or a promotional APR that not every buyer receives.

When comparing loans, record all of the following:

  • Vehicle price after selected options and Tesla fees
  • Sales tax, registration and other charges financed into the loan
  • Down payment or trade-in credit
  • Annual percentage rate
  • Loan term
  • Total amount of all scheduled payments
  • Any prepayment or other contract terms

The total of the scheduled payments is more useful than the monthly payment alone. A lower monthly figure can still produce a higher overall cost if the loan lasts longer or carries more interest.

Leasing can lower the payment without making the Tesla cheaper to own

Tesla’s current lease examples describe assumptions such as a 36-month term, 10,000 miles per year, an acquisition fee, a down payment and a charge for excess mileage. Those assumptions are not universal lease terms, and the exact payment depends on the model, trim, state, credit profile, taxes and current offer.

A lease payment also does not represent the complete monthly cost. Depending on the contract, you may need to account for the amount due at signing, acquisition fee, taxes, registration, insurance, charging and excess-mileage charges. Unlike a purchase loan, a lease generally does not give you ownership equity during the lease term.

Before choosing a lease, compare:

  • Total due at signing
  • Every monthly payment
  • Annual mileage allowance
  • Excess-mileage rate
  • Disposition, acquisition or other contract fees
  • End-of-lease purchase terms, if available
  • Insurance and charging costs

Charging costs beyond the Tesla price

Home charging equipment is a separate purchase consideration. Tesla lists the Wall Connector at $535 and the Mobile Connector at $300 in its charging catalog.

Tesla describes the Mobile Connector as a portable option that can add up to approximately 3 miles of range per hour from a NEMA 5-15 outlet or up to 30 miles per hour from a NEMA 14-50 outlet, depending on the vehicle. Tesla recommends the Wall Connector for the best home-charging speeds and sells NEMA adapters separately.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The charger price is not the same as the installed price. Electrical work, permits, the distance from the electrical panel, panel capacity and electrician labor can materially change the total. A home that already has suitable wiring may cost much less to equip than one that requires a new circuit or panel upgrade.

The 25-foot cable gives you the freedom to reach vehicles parked at a distance, making charging convenient anywhere.
  • Intelligent Charging: Featuring a 2.8-inch touch display, you can easily select the charging current (8A / 10A / 13A / 16A) and schedule charging with a 1–12 hour delayed start. • Comprehensive Safety: Designed to meet CE and FCC safety standards, this charger offers multiple layers of protection, including overvoltage, overload, short-circuit, grounding, and leakage safeguards. The durable IP65-rated waterproof housing and reinforced cable ensure reliable charging in all weather conditions, keeping your vehicle safe year-round.

A Tesla charging adapter or NACS charging cable may also be useful for particular travel or outlet setups, but compatibility depends on the Tesla model, connector, charging source and adapter type. Verify the vehicle’s requirements and safety rating before purchasing; an aftermarket adapter is not automatically appropriate for every charging situation.

If your purchase plan includes a Wall Connector, compare a licensed electrician or EV charger installation service separately from the hardware price. Ask whether the quote includes permits, wiring, breaker work, inspection and any required panel upgrade.

Other recurring Tesla ownership costs

The following expenses are not included in Tesla’s advertised vehicle prices:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Insurance: Premiums vary by driver, location, coverage limits, deductible, vehicle and insurer. An EV insurance comparison can help compare Tesla-specific quotes rather than relying on a generic national average.
  • Registration and local taxes: These depend on state and local rules and may be higher or structured differently for EVs in some jurisdictions.
  • Electricity: Home and public charging costs depend on energy rates, charging location and driving patterns.
  • Tires: Replacement cost varies with tire size, performance level, climate and driving habits.
  • Collision repairs: A crash can create costs beyond the deductible, including rental transportation and coverage-related expenses.
  • Financing interest: This applies when the purchase is not paid in cash.
  • Software subscriptions: Tesla lists Full Self-Driving (Supervised) at $99 per month on its current offers page.

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) requires active driver supervision. It is not an autonomous-driving service, and the subscription should be treated as an optional recurring cost rather than part of the vehicle’s base price.

Warranty context

Tesla’s current vehicle pages list a basic limited warranty of four years or 50,000 miles for the Model 3 and Model Y. Battery and drive-unit coverage varies by model and configuration, so buyers should review the warranty terms for the exact vehicle they are ordering.

Warranty length is useful when comparing new vehicles, but it should not be converted into a predicted repair budget. Insurance, tires, accident damage, wear items and costs outside the warranty can still apply.

Which Tesla fits which budget?

About $37,000 before taxes and extras

The Model 3 Standard RWD is the clear starting point. With Tesla’s stated order and destination fees, the price is $38,630 before taxes, registration and options. A buyer who needs home charging, upgraded paint or other equipment should plan above that amount.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

About $40,000 to $50,000 before taxes and extras

This range covers the reported Model Y Standard entry point at $39,990 and the Model 3 Premium RWD and Premium AWD at $42,490 and $47,490, respectively, before the applicable fees. Confirm current Model Y configurator pricing because Tesla’s published presentation is not as complete as the Model 3 table.

About $55,000 to $65,000 before taxes and extras

The Model 3 Performance AWD starts at $54,990 before Tesla’s stated fees. The Model Y L Premium starts at $61,990 before fees, or $63,630 including them. These vehicles can move higher with options and location-specific charges.

More than $80,000 before taxes and extras

The cited Cybertruck Premium AWD starting purchase price is $82,235 including order and destination fees. Treat this as a configuration-specific figure from Tesla’s current offer terms, not a price for every Cybertruck.

A practical Tesla out-the-door checklist

Before deciding whether a Tesla fits your budget, ask Tesla or your lender for the complete purchase or lease worksheet and verify:

  1. Exact model, trim, drivetrain and seating configuration
  2. Vehicle price before and after Tesla’s order and destination fees
  3. Paint, wheels, interior, towing equipment and other options
  4. Sales tax, title, registration and local government charges
  5. Delivery or inventory-specific adjustments
  6. Cash price versus total financed amount
  7. Down payment, APR, term and total loan payments
  8. Lease amount due at signing, acquisition fee, mileage limit and excess-mileage charge
  9. Home charger, adapters, wiring, permits and installation
  10. Insurance quote, electricity cost, tires and optional subscriptions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest new Tesla in 2026?

For U.S. shoppers on August 11, 2026, Tesla lists the Model 3 Standard RWD at $36,990 before destination and order fees, taxes and other charges. Tesla states $38,630 after its order and destination fees, still excluding taxes and other fees.

Can I subtract the $7,500 federal EV tax credit from a 2026 Tesla price?

Not by default. The IRS says the New Clean Vehicle Credit is unavailable for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. State, local and utility incentives may have separate rules.

Are Model S and Model X available as new 2026 Teslas?

Tesla says both Model S and Model X are no longer in production. Used, demo or remaining inventory may be available, but those vehicles should not be represented as current new-model MSRP listings.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does a Tesla lease payment include the full cost of driving the car?

No. The payment may exclude or depend on the amount due at signing, acquisition fees, taxes, registration, insurance, charging and excess-mileage charges. Tesla’s promotional lease terms are subject to change and credit approval.

Is Full Self-Driving included in the Tesla price?

Tesla lists Full Self-Driving (Supervised) as a $99-per-month subscription on its current offers page. It requires active driver supervision and does not make the vehicle autonomous.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Budget at least $36,990 for the least expensive advertised new Tesla in the U.S. in 2026, but expect the Model 3 Standard to reach $38,630 after Tesla’s stated order and destination fees—and more after taxes, registration, options, charging and insurance. The reported Model Y Standard starts at $39,990, the Model Y L Premium at $61,990 before fees, and the cited Cybertruck Premium AWD offer at $82,235 including those fees. Model S and Model X no longer have current new-vehicle prices because Tesla says they are out of production.
