What is the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC?
Ford Racing introduced the Dark Horse SC on January 14, 2026, describing it as an expansion of the Dark Horse line that draws on engineering work from the Mustang GT3 and GTD programs. Its place in the lineup is between the standard Dark Horse and the more exclusive GTD, bringing race-derived technology to a road-going Mustang. Ford Racing’s introduction explains that positioning.
Ford Racing global director Mark Rushbrook said the aim was to bring “the exact tech transfer and lessons learned from our most grueling endurance races directly to our road cars, giving our customers a true taste of what our race teams experience on the track.” That is the development goal Ford describes; it is not evidence of a particular lap time or a comparison with other cars on track.
How much power does the Dark Horse SC make?
Ford’s U.S. 2026 model page lists a 5.2-liter supercharged cross-plane-crank V8 rated at 795 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission. These are Ford-published U.S. specifications, not independent test measurements. Specifications can differ by market: Ford Canada’s listing reports different output figures, so buyers outside the United States should check their local Ford listing rather than assume the U.S. rating applies.

The standard 2026 Dark Horse uses a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 rated by Ford at 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft. The SC’s larger, supercharged engine and higher published output mark the main distinction in this comparison; Ford’s cited pages do not establish comparative lap times or value. What does the Track Pack add?
Ford Racing says the optional Track Pack adds equipment aimed at hard track use and reduces vehicle weight by about 150 pounds. That is Ford’s stated package reduction, not an independently measured figure.
- Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.
- Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
- 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels.
- Rear-seat delete.
Ford names the tire model but the cited package description does not provide tire sizing. Anyone checking replacement tires should confirm the exact size and fitment for the specific vehicle. The 2026 Mustang owner’s manual also identifies carbon-ceramic rotors on Track Pack vehicles.

What do the hood vent and rear wing do?
Ford’s aerodynamic claims come with specific conditions. Ford says the hood vent produces 2.5 times the downforce of the standard Dark Horse hood vent when its rain tray is removed. The comparison is about hood-vent downforce, not total vehicle downforce.
For the Track Pack, Ford says the rear wing makes 620 pounds of rear downforce at 180 mph. That is a manufacturer-published figure at the stated speed, not an independently verified measurement or a figure for ordinary road speeds. Ford’s product editorial on the Dark Horse SC describes these aerodynamic details.

When do orders and deliveries begin?
Ford Racing’s April 23, 2026 announcement said order banks opened that day and scheduled initial customer deliveries for summer 2026. It establishes Ford’s announced plan, not confirmation that deliveries actually began or that a particular dealer has inventory. Order information and the stated timing appear in Ford Racing’s order announcement.

Ford’s figures establish the SC’s stated output, package contents and selected aerodynamic claims. They do not establish real-world lap times, independent performance results, current dealer availability or transaction pricing. The “street-legal” phrase should likewise be read as the title’s characterization of a road-going model, not as a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction legal determination.
