The latest officially documented Cybertruck recall issues covered here involve a stainless-steel cantrail panel that may detach, front parking lamps that may exceed a federal intensity limit, and a rearview-camera image that may appear too slowly after shifting into reverse. Whether any one Cybertruck is affected depends on its VIN, build date and, for software campaigns, installed software—not model year alone. Check the complete 17-digit VIN with Tesla or NHTSA before drawing conclusions about an individual truck.
What are the latest Cybertruck recalls?
Tesla’s recall notices describe three distinct conditions and different remedies. The build ranges below are not substitutes for checking a truck’s VIN; the parking-lamp campaign also depends on software.
| Issue | Vehicles and conditions in Tesla’s notice | What may happen | Remedy and owner action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cantrail panel separation | Specified model year 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks manufactured November 13, 2023 through February 27, 2025. | The bonded stainless-steel panel may delaminate and detach, potentially creating a road hazard. | Free replacement of the cantrail assembly; Tesla estimates about one hour. Tesla says it will contact affected owners when parts are available in their region. Tesla cantrail recall notice. |
| Front parking-lamp intensity | Certain 2024–2026 Cybertrucks built November 13, 2023 through October 11, 2025 and operating software earlier than 2025.38.3. | The controller may command front parking-lamp intensity above the maximum allowed by FMVSS 108. | A voluntary noncompliance recall. Check the VIN and Tesla’s campaign notice for the current corrective action applicable to the vehicle. Tesla front parking-lamp recall notice. |
| Rearview-camera display timing | Certain model year 2024 Cybertrucks built November 13, 2023 through September 14, 2024. | The camera image may not appear within two seconds after the driver shifts into reverse, as required by FMVSS 111, S6.2.3. | Tesla says software 2024.32.5.2 or later addresses this condition. Vehicles already on that version or later need no appointment or further action for this campaign. Tesla rearview-camera recall notice. |
What is the cantrail panel problem?
The cantrail is the bonded stainless-steel panel covered by Tesla’s campaign for specified 2024 and 2025 trucks built from November 13, 2023 through February 27, 2025. Tesla says the adhesive joint may fail, allowing the panel to delaminate and potentially separate from the vehicle. A detached panel could become a road hazard and increase the risk of a collision or injury.
Tesla says cabin noise may be noticeable before the panel separates, and the panel may appear visibly loose. The stated remedy is a free replacement cantrail assembly that meets Tesla’s durability requirements. Tesla estimates replacement takes about one hour and says affected owners may continue driving while they wait for scheduling; Tesla will contact them when parts are available in their region. Confirm applicability and current instructions through the VIN lookup and Tesla’s cantrail recall notice.

What is wrong with the front parking lamps?
For certain trucks built November 13, 2023 through October 11, 2025, Tesla identifies a software condition that may allow the vehicle controller to command front parking-lamp photometry above the maximum intensity permitted under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 (FMVSS 108). The campaign covers specified 2024, 2025 and 2026 Cybertrucks operating software earlier than 2025.38.3.
This is a voluntary noncompliance recall, not evidence that every Cybertruck in those model years has the condition. Check the full VIN and Tesla’s front parking-lamp campaign page for the applicable corrective action and instructions for the specific vehicle.

What is the rearview-camera issue?
Tesla says certain 2024 Cybertrucks built November 13, 2023 through September 14, 2024 may not display the rearview-camera image within two seconds of shifting into reverse. Tesla identifies that timing as a requirement under FMVSS 111, S6.2.3.
Tesla says software version 2024.32.5.2 or later addresses the condition in this campaign. A vehicle already running that version or a later one does not need an appointment or further owner action for this particular recall, according to Tesla. That threshold is campaign-specific; it does not mean 2024.32.5.2 is the latest software available in 2026. Check the vehicle’s installed software and the Tesla campaign notice.

How do I check a Cybertruck recall by VIN?
- Find the truck’s complete 17-digit VIN. Use the VIN, rather than model year or build-range summaries, to check individual eligibility.
- Enter it in Tesla’s VIN Recall Search or NHTSA’s recall lookup. Tesla’s lookup page reported its data as of September 10, 2026.
- If an open recall appears, follow Tesla’s official recall or service instructions. Tesla says recall service is provided at no charge; contact Tesla for scheduling or campaign questions.
- For a software campaign, compare the installed version and the exact campaign conditions with Tesla’s notice. A model-year match by itself does not establish that a vehicle is affected.
These notices cover three documented recall subjects, not every complaint, investigation or quality concern involving Cybertruck. They do not establish how often a condition occurs or whether a particular truck is affected. NHTSA’s safety-issue search also provides recall and investigation information, including search by publication date and investigation status or dates.

If you believe a defect could cause a crash, injury or death, Tesla’s Cybertruck Owner’s Manual says to notify NHTSA as well as Tesla. NHTSA can review similar complaints and may order a recall if it identifies a group safety defect; it cannot resolve an individual dispute between an owner and Tesla.
