Yamaha introduced the all-new YZF-R9, Ducati redesigned the Panigale V2 from the ground up, Harley-Davidson added the pavement-focused Pan America 1250 ST, and Kawasaki, Triumph, Honda, KTM, and Harley-Davidson substantially updated important models.
This is a U.S.-focused editorial shortlist, not an objective ranking or a substitute for a professional comparison test. “Must-see” means these motorcycles are especially significant because they are new, materially revised, or unusually important within their categories. Manufacturer horsepower, weight, equipment, and performance descriptions are presented as claimed specifications or company positioning—not independent test results.

What makes a 2025 motorcycle worth seeing?
The 2025 model year is unusually broad. It includes genuinely new motorcycles, clean-sheet redesigns, new trims, and meaningful updates to established platforms. That distinction matters: a completely new supersport such as the Yamaha YZF-R9 belongs in a different conversation from an updated sport-tourer such as the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX, even though both may be more relevant to buyers than a motorcycle with only a color change.

1. Indian 101 Scout: the performance-focused new American cruiser
The 2025 Indian 101 Scout is the strongest cruiser centerpiece in this group. Indian describes it as the highest-performance Scout yet, and the hardware explains why it is more than a cosmetic special edition: it uses an all-new 1250cc liquid-cooled SpeedPlus V-twin, claimed output of 111 horsepower, adjustable piggyback rear shocks, adjustable inverted forks, dual Brembo brakes, and a quarter fairing.
That combination gives the 101 Scout a distinct editorial identity. It retains the low-slung, recognizable American-cruiser format, but its engine, suspension, brakes, and wind protection point toward a more performance-oriented interpretation of the category. It should not automatically be declared superior to Harley-Davidson’s cruisers; it represents a different approach, with liquid cooling and a more technology-forward chassis package.
U.S. starting MSRP is listed at $16,999. Indian’s Limited +Tech trim adds a 4-inch RIDE COMMAND display, navigation, ride modes, keyless ignition, connected services, and related technology. Buyers should confirm which equipment belongs to the exact 101 Scout configuration they are considering rather than assuming every Scout has the Limited +Tech package.
Why it belongs on the list
- It is the most direct answer to the “new cruisers” part of the title.
- The 1250cc liquid-cooled engine makes it materially different from a routine trim update.
- Adjustable suspension and dual Brembo brakes give the model a clearly performance-focused specification.
- The optional or trim-dependent technology package makes it one of the most connected cruiser families here.
2. Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 ST: an adventure silhouette for pavement riders
Harley-Davidson introduced the Pan America 1250 ST as a new 2025 adventure-sport model. Its purpose is narrower and more road-focused than the Pan America 1250 Special: it is aimed at riders who want the upright shape, distance capability, and visual presence of an adventure motorcycle but expect to spend most of their time on pavement.
Harley positions the ST between a sport bike or streetfighter and a fully equipped adventure-tourer. That positioning is important. “Adventure” does not mean every version is equally suited to rough trails, and the ST should not be treated as an off-road replacement for the more off-road-emphasized Pan America 1250 Special.
Its appeal is the combination of adventure-bike ergonomics and a sport-oriented pavement mission. It gives Harley-Davidson a more focused answer for riders who want an upright, long-distance road machine without choosing a conventional touring motorcycle or a low cruiser.

- Confirm the exact standard equipment and wheel, tire, suspension, and luggage configuration for the local market.
- Compare the ST with the Pan America 1250 Special based on actual riding surface, not merely styling.
- Obtain a current dealer quote because Harley-Davidson pricing and charges can vary by market and configuration.
3. Yamaha YZF-R9: the major new middleweight supersport
The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 is one of the most significant new sport motorcycles of the model year. It uses Yamaha’s 890cc CP3 three-cylinder powerplant in an all-new supersport package with a dedicated chassis and an advanced electronics suite.
Yamaha’s U.S. page lists a starting price of $12,499, a claimed wet weight of 430 pounds, and a 32.7-inch seat height. Those figures make the R9 especially relevant to riders who want a full-fairing performance motorcycle but are comparing more than engine displacement. The package is notable because it brings the road-usable character of a three-cylinder platform into Yamaha’s R-series supersport family.
The R9 should not be casually described as a direct replacement for the YZF-R6 without an authoritative source making that comparison. It is better understood on its own terms: a new 890cc supersport with a dedicated chassis, modern electronics, and a place between smaller sportbikes and high-output liter-class machines.
Best reason to pay attention
The R9 is arguably the most important new full-fairing motorcycle for riders who want contemporary supersport hardware without automatically moving to a larger, more expensive class. Its claimed specifications and equipment make it one of the clearest 2025 examples of a manufacturer creating a new middleweight performance proposition rather than simply refreshing an existing colorway.
4. Ducati Panigale V2: a clean-sheet entry into the Panigale family
Ducati says the new Panigale V2 was designed from scratch rather than derived from the larger Superbike model. That makes it one of the most interesting redesigns of 2025, particularly for riders who want the visual and engineering character of a Panigale in a lighter, less intimidating package.

The motorcycle uses an 890cc engine and Ducati lists claimed output of 120 horsepower. Claimed weight is 395 pounds for the standard version and 388 pounds for the V2 S. Ducati calls it the lightest Panigale ever. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent scale or dyno results, but they explain the model’s significance within the Ducati range.
U.S. pricing begins at $16,995 for the standard model in the cited material. Displayed V2 S configurations were listed at $19,995 and $20,495, depending on the configuration shown. Because color-specific and trim-specific prices can change, verify the exact build before using those figures in a purchase decision.
Who should consider it?
The Panigale V2 is aimed at the rider who wants a serious sportbike with Ducati styling and technology but does not necessarily want the physical and financial escalation associated with the larger Panigale models. Ducati’s descriptions of accessibility and ease of use are positioning claims; a buyer should still assess seat height, riding position, insurance cost, and intended road or track use in person.

5. KTM 390 Adventure R: the small ADV that takes dirt capability seriously
KTM announced an entirely new 390 Adventure range for 2025, and the 390 Adventure R is the dirt-oriented standout. KTM describes the R as the most off-road-focused adventure motorcycle in its segment. Its rally-inspired styling, slim body profile, 3.69-gallon metal fuel tank, LED lighting, and durable fairings support that mission.
The important distinction is not simply that this is a small-displacement adventure motorcycle. It is that KTM gave the R a visibly more serious off-road identity instead of treating the category as an upright commuter with adventure styling. That makes it one of the most consequential lightweight ADV launches for riders who prioritize trail use, lower mass, and manageable running costs over highway-size engine capacity.
Important safety and recall check
A later KTM safety notice identified certain 2025–2026 390 Adventure R, 390 Adventure X, 390 Enduro R, and 390 SMC R motorcycles for a side-stand-spring replacement campaign. The notice states that vibration could cause the spring to break. This does not mean every motorcycle in those model families is defective, but it does mean buyers should verify the individual motorcycle.
- Record the motorcycle’s VIN.
- Check the current recall or safety-campaign status through KTM and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
- Ask the dealer whether the required side-stand-spring work has been completed and documented.
- Do not rely on the model name alone; campaign applicability can depend on the specific VIN and market.
6. Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX: the long-distance alternative to an uncompromising supersport
The 2025 Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX updates the established sport-touring formula with a new 1,099cc inline-four engine. Kawasaki lists claimed output of 134 horsepower and equips the motorcycle with electronic cruise control, traction control, cornering-management functions, quick shifting, smartphone connectivity, and ABS-related rider aids.
The Ninja 1100SX matters because it addresses a different problem from the YZF-R9 or Panigale V2. Its purpose is not to be the sharpest-looking full-fairing sportbike in a showroom; it is a road machine intended to combine performance with distance-oriented equipment. Electronic cruise control and smartphone connectivity are particularly relevant to riders who use a motorcycle for long road days rather than short, focused rides.
Kawasaki’s U.S. page lists $13,699 for the ABS version before destination and other charges. Treat that as MSRP, not an out-the-door price. Destination, setup, tax, registration, accessories, and dealer pricing can materially change the final figure.
Why it is more than a displacement bump
The 2025 update gives the Ninja SX a fresh engine and a renewed touring-performance proposition. It is a good shortlist candidate for someone who wants one motorcycle to cover spirited pavement riding and longer trips, while recognizing that no specification sheet can substitute for checking wind protection, reach to the controls, luggage needs, and riding position.
7. Triumph Speed Twin 1200: classic looks with a meaningful technical update
The 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 is not a cruiser in the strict industry sense. It is better classified as a standard, roadster, or modern classic. It earns a place here because Triumph made substantial changes rather than merely refreshing the paint and introduced a more focused Speed Twin 1200 RS alongside it.

This is the bridge between the cruiser portion of the list and the broader modern-classic category. The Speed Twin 1200 offers a traditional visual language, but its 2025 changes show how contemporary rider aids and suspension components can be integrated without abandoning the compact roadster concept.
Speed Twin 1200 or Speed Twin 1200 RS?
The standard Speed Twin 1200 is the broader roadster proposition. The RS is the more focused version for buyers who want the upgraded or more performance-oriented specification. Exact equipment and pricing should be checked by market and trim; do not assume the RS’s equipment or price applies to the standard model.
8. Honda Rebel 1100: a practical large cruiser with transmission choice
Honda revised the Rebel 1100 family for 2025 in Japan. The changes include measures intended to improve low- and mid-range torque, revised handlebar and footpeg positions, a revised seat, and standard adoption of a 5-inch full-color TFT meter with Honda RoadSync.
Recommended Free Tools
Honda also added a Rebel 1100 S Edition with Dual Clutch Transmission, or DCT, and accessories supplied as standard equipment. That makes the Rebel 1100 especially interesting for riders who value usability and want a choice between a conventional manual transmission and an automated dual-clutch setup.
The market qualification is essential: the cited update is from a Japan-market Honda release. Its listed trim structure, equipment, availability, and pricing should not automatically be transferred to the United States. U.S. shoppers need to check the American Honda model range and local dealer inventory for the specifications that actually apply to them.
Why the Rebel 1100 remains relevant
Large cruisers are not limited to one riding style. The Rebel 1100’s importance is its attempt to make the category more approachable and configurable through ergonomics, connectivity, and transmission choice. Whether the Japan-market revisions appear in another country is a separate question that must be answered by that market’s Honda information.
9. Harley-Davidson Sportster S: the Sportster name reinterpreted
The 2025 Harley-Davidson Sportster S is a performance cruiser built around the liquid-cooled Revolution Max 1250T engine. Harley-Davidson lists claimed output of 121 horsepower and 93 lb-ft of torque.
The strongest fresh-update story is the rear suspension. For 2025, rear travel increases by 60 percent, from 2 inches to 3.2 inches, without raising the seat height. The motorcycle also uses adjustable 43mm inverted forks and Brembo brakes.
That specification separates the Sportster S from Harley-Davidson’s air-cooled Softail cruiser models. Although it carries a famous cruiser name, it is a liquid-cooled performance-oriented motorcycle with a different engine architecture and chassis direction. It should be compared with other performance cruisers—not treated as a technical continuation of every older Sportster design.
The buying question
The Sportster S is worth seeing if you like the brand’s styling and engine character but want a more contemporary performance package. The additional rear travel is a particularly relevant 2025 change on paper. Actual comfort, suspension behavior, and fit still depend on the rider and should be evaluated with a sit-on inspection or test ride.
10. Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST: a factory performance cruiser with touring intent
The 2025 Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST receives the Milwaukee-Eight 117 High Output V-twin. Harley-Davidson’s 2025 cruiser material also places the model within a refreshed range that includes revised powertrains, rider-safety technology, selectable ride modes, suspension revisions, and updated electronics.

The Low Rider ST’s identity is its combination of a Softail cruiser format with a fairing and saddlebags. It is a sport-touring-oriented cruiser with touring intent, but it is not a full-dress touring motorcycle. That distinction matters when comparing luggage capacity, weather protection, passenger equipment, long-distance comfort, and overall size.

- Comfort to wear: Black frame with soft silicone sponge padded, block off wind and dust
- High Quality Lens: UV400 Protection impact resistant polycarbonate lens, anti-wind, anti-glare, dustproof

- Light weight proves all day comfortable wearing
- Brand New, Waterproof and High Quality Made
Its place at the end of this list returns the focus to cruisers while showing how broad that term has become. A buyer looking for a traditional, low-slung motorcycle may approach it differently from someone seeking a performance-oriented machine for longer pavement rides. The fairing, luggage, ride modes, and high-output engine make it a notably different proposition from a minimalist cruiser.

There is no single winner because the motorcycles solve different problems. Start with how and where you ride, then narrow the list by engine character, riding position, technology, maintenance expectations, luggage requirements, and total purchase cost.
| If your priority is… | Start with… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A genuinely new American cruiser | Indian 101 Scout | It combines a new 1250cc liquid-cooled engine with upgraded suspension, brakes, and cruiser styling. |
| A technology-forward cruiser family | Indian Scout range, especially Limited +Tech configurations | The 4-inch RIDE COMMAND display, navigation, ride modes, keyless ignition, and connected services are the relevant highlights. |
| A pavement-biased adventure motorcycle | Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 ST | It is positioned for road performance and distance rather than the strongest off-road emphasis. |
| A new middleweight supersport | Yamaha YZF-R9 | It brings an 890cc CP3 engine into an all-new dedicated supersport package. |
| A lighter, clean-sheet Ducati sportbike | Ducati Panigale V2 | Ducati says it was designed from scratch and lists a 395-pound standard claimed weight. |
| Small-bike off-road capability | KTM 390 Adventure R | Its rally-inspired, dirt-focused specification is more significant than adventure styling alone. Verify recall status first. |
| Long-distance pavement riding | Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX | The larger inline-four engine, cruise control, connectivity, and rider aids support a sport-touring mission. |
| Classic styling with current equipment | Triumph Speed Twin 1200 | It receives chassis, output, styling, ABS, and traction-control updates while remaining a modern classic roadster. |
| A large cruiser with transmission flexibility | Honda Rebel 1100 | The Japan-market revision adds usability changes, TFT connectivity, and a DCT S Edition. |
| A performance-oriented Harley cruiser | Sportster S or Low Rider ST | The Sportster S emphasizes liquid-cooled performance; the Low Rider ST adds fairing, saddlebags, and touring intent. |
What the listed prices do—and do not—tell you
MSRP is the correct starting point for comparing these motorcycles, but it is not the amount most buyers will ultimately pay. Manufacturer pages can exclude destination, setup, taxes, title, licensing, registration, and dealer charges. Accessories, luggage, protection packages, and technology trims can also change the final price.
Do not mix model-year pricing with later promotions. Indian pages displayed promotional offers for selected 2025 motorcycles tied to 2026 model-year marketing, but a temporary incentive is not permanent 2025 pricing. When comparing a new motorcycle with remaining 2025 inventory, ask the dealer for an itemized out-the-door quote and confirm the exact model year and VIN.
Ownership preparation before you commit
Equipment needs also vary sharply by category. A sportbike rider may prioritize protective motorcycle riding gear and track-compatible protection; an adventure rider may need luggage, weatherproof storage, protective parts, and tools; and a touring-oriented cruiser buyer may value a different luggage and weather-protection setup. Treat those costs as part of ownership planning rather than assuming the motorcycle’s base MSRP represents the complete budget.
Verification checklist for a 2025 purchase
- Confirm the market. U.S. prices and equipment do not automatically apply in Canada, Europe, Japan, or other markets. The Honda Rebel 1100 update discussed here is specifically supported by Japan-market evidence.
- Confirm the model year. A motorcycle sold during 2025 is not necessarily a 2025 model-year motorcycle, and a discounted 2025 model may be advertised during a later model-year promotion.
- Check the exact trim. Technology, suspension, transmission, luggage, display, and braking equipment may differ between standard, S, RS, Limited +Tech, ABS, and other versions.
- Check the VIN for safety campaigns. This is particularly important for the KTM 390 Adventure R and the related KTM models named in the side-stand-spring notice.
- Request an itemized quote. Separate MSRP from destination, freight, setup, taxes, registration, dealer fees, accessories, financing costs, and optional protection products.
- Assess fit in person. Seat height, handlebar reach, footpeg position, wind protection, passenger accommodations, and luggage access cannot be reliably judged from engine specifications alone.
- Use a test ride where possible. This article does not claim independent ride impressions, comfort results, reliability, fuel economy, or comparative performance. Those are questions for a test ride and credible independent road tests.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these objectively the ten best motorcycles of 2025?
No. “Must-see” is an editorial judgment based on how new or substantially updated each motorcycle is and how clearly it matters within its category. The list is not a controlled performance ranking or a claim that one motorcycle is universally better than another.

Which motorcycles on this list are genuinely new for 2025?
The most conspicuous new additions are the Indian 101 Scout, Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 ST, Yamaha YZF-R9, Ducati Panigale V2 redesign, and KTM 390 Adventure range. The Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX, Triumph Speed Twin 1200, Honda Rebel 1100, Harley-Davidson Sportster S, and Low Rider ST are important updates or revised versions of existing model families.
Does the KTM 390 Adventure R recall affect every motorcycle?
No. The KTM safety notice applies to certain 2025–2026 motorcycles in the named 390 Adventure, Enduro, and SMC R families. Check the specific VIN with KTM and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and ask a dealer whether the side-stand-spring replacement has been completed.
Do the listed motorcycle prices include destination and dealer fees?
Generally, no. The cited figures are manufacturer-listed MSRP or starting prices, and destination, setup, taxes, title, registration, licensing, dealer charges, accessories, and financing can be additional. Confirm the exact model year, trim, and out-the-door price with a dealer.
Is the 2025 Honda Rebel 1100 update confirmed for the United States?
The evidence covered here comes from a Japan-market Honda release. It should not be used to assume that the same S Edition, DCT equipment, TFT display, pricing, or trim structure is available in the United States. Check the relevant Honda market page and local dealers.
The Bottom Line
The Indian 101 Scout is the most direct new-cruiser recommendation in this editorial shortlist, while the Yamaha YZF-R9 and Ducati Panigale V2 are the standout new sportbike stories. The KTM 390 Adventure R is the dirt-focused choice, the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX is the strongest touring-oriented road option, and the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 offers the most clearly updated modern-classic route. Harley-Davidson’s Pan America 1250 ST, Sportster S, and Low Rider ST cover three distinct interpretations of road-focused performance, while the Honda Rebel 1100 adds an important transmission and usability angle—subject to its Japan-market qualification.
Before purchasing, verify the market, trim, model year, VIN, recall status, and complete out-the-door price. The right choice depends less on a universal ranking than on whether your riding is primarily cruising, sport riding, touring, pavement adventure, or off-road travel.
