Tesla’s website presents a dramatic, low-slung electric sports car and publishes headline-grabbing performance figures, but those figures are company claims—not independently verified production specifications. The images and details describe Tesla’s current presentation of a future vehicle, not a confirmed final production design.
What Tesla’s Roadster page shows
Tesla calls the Roadster an “all-electric supercar” designed for performance and aerodynamic efficiency. Its page depicts a red sports car with a low profile, shows an interior, and describes a removable glass roof that stores in the trunk. Those details reflect Tesla’s own product page and imagery; they do not establish that the pictured design or features will appear unchanged in a production vehicle.
Tesla’s Roadster page is the source for the design presentation and specifications below.
Tesla’s published Roadster performance claims
| Measure | Figure listed by Tesla | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| 0–60 mph acceleration | 1.9 seconds | Tesla-published claim; not an independent test result or confirmed production specification. |
| Top speed | More than 250 mph | Tesla-published claim; not an independent test result or confirmed production specification. |
| Range | 620 miles | Tesla-published claim; not an independent test result or confirmed production specification. |
The figures are listed on Tesla’s Roadster page reviewed in 2026. The sources cited here do not establish how the range figure was measured or independently verify any of the three numbers. Treat them as targets or claims published by Tesla, rather than demonstrated performance of a customer-delivered car.

Reveal timing: reports have given different dates
As of October 8, 2026, reporting about the Roadster’s reveal has not been consistent. TechCrunch reported on September 12 that Tesla said it would unveil the car on October 1. A Tesla-hosted Singapore event listing advertised a watch party for an October 2 livestream. Car and Driver later reported that Tesla had moved the debut to October 15, citing the company’s official X account.
Because those dates conflict—and October 1 and October 2 had passed by October 8—check Tesla’s latest official announcement for whether a reveal occurred or was rescheduled. A reported reveal date is not evidence that production or customer deliveries have begun. The three reports are TechCrunch’s September 12 report, Tesla Events’ Singapore watch-party listing, and Car and Driver’s report on the later date.

Reservations are not the same as deliveries
Tesla’s Roadster page offers reservation and update options. That establishes that Tesla is inviting visitors to reserve or follow the project; it does not establish that the car is in production, that deliveries have started, or when customers will receive one. The sources cited here do not confirm customer deliveries.

Tesla announced the second-generation Roadster in November 2017. TechCrunch reports that the project has since experienced multiple delays. That history makes it especially important to separate a company’s current design presentation and performance claims from confirmed production details and delivery timing.
