The clearest current U.S.-market examples are the 2025 Lincoln Navigator and the redesigned 2025+ Tesla Model Y. Other new vehicles use related designs—L-shaped lamps, emblem-integrated bars, or horizontal elements within rear-light graphics—but they are not necessarily one uninterrupted lamp spanning the entire rear.
If you mean a new vehicle whose rear lighting visually connects the left and right sides, the clearest current U.S.-market examples are the 2025 Lincoln Navigator and the redesigned 2025+ Tesla Model Y. Other new vehicles use related treatments—unified L-shaped lamps, emblem-integrated bars, or horizontal trim built into the rear-light graphic—but they are not necessarily one uninterrupted lamp spanning the entire rear.

That distinction matters. “Taillight bar” is used loosely in vehicle shopping and design coverage, even though a manufacturer may be describing a full-width lamp, a connected lighting signature, or simply a horizontal element within separate lamp assemblies. The list below separates those categories and labels non-U.S. examples clearly.

| Lincoln Navigator | 2025 U.S. | Full-width taillamps extending across the liftgate | One of the clearest full-width examples |
| Tesla Model Y | Redesigned 2025+ U.S. | Five-foot cross-car rear light bar | Most literal example; uses projected light on an applique |
| Lexus GX 550 | 2025 U.S. | Unified L-shaped light bar | Connected signature, not confirmed as one continuous lamp |
| Lexus TX | 2025 U.S. | Slim L-shaped light-bar lamp | Bar-style lamp with a branded shape |
| Lexus ES | 2026 U.S. | Single bar integrated with the illuminated Lexus emblem | Central bar rather than a full-width lamp |

1. 2025 Lincoln Navigator: full-width taillamps
The 2025 Lincoln Navigator is a strong match for the conventional idea of a taillight bar. Lincoln describes its new rear lighting as full-width taillamps that spread across the liftgate. The lamps also illuminate sequentially during the vehicle’s approach sequence, part of Lincoln’s “Embrace” welcome experience.

The precise description is important: the Navigator has a full-width taillamp treatment, but that does not necessarily mean every inch of the panel between the left and right lamp units emits light. A careful description is that the Navigator’s rear lighting stretches across the liftgate in a true full-width taillamp layout.
- Best classification: full-width taillamp treatment.
- Distinctive feature: sequential illumination during the approach sequence.
- What not to claim: that the entire intervening rear panel is one continuous illuminated lamp.
2. Redesigned 2025+ Tesla Model Y: a five-foot rear light bar
The redesigned Tesla Model Y is the most literal example in this group. Tesla describes a five-foot cross-car rear light bar, making the horizontal lighting signature one of the vehicle’s defining rear-end features.
There is a technical nuance behind the appearance. Tesla says the system uses indirect, externally reflected lighting projected onto a custom rear applique. In other words, the visible illuminated surface is not simply a conventional transparent lamp lens extending five feet across the vehicle. The light source and the applique work together to create the cross-car effect.

That matters to owners because a replacement part should not be selected by appearance alone. Before buying anything, verify the vehicle’s model year, market, trim, left/right position, liftgate or fascia location, and—when applicable—the vehicle identification number.
3. 2025 Lexus GX 550: unified L-shaped rear light bar
The 2025 Lexus GX 550 uses what Lexus calls a unified L-shaped light bar. The shape suits the GX’s upright, squared-off rear design and creates a linked visual signature across the back of the SUV.

This is a taillight-bar design in the broad sense, but it should not be described as a completely uninterrupted full-width lamp. Lexus’s wording supports a unified L-shaped lighting signature; it does not establish that a single continuous illuminated element runs from one outer corner to the other.
Recommended Free Tools
- Best classification: unified L-shaped light bar.
- Design effect: emphasizes the GX’s horizontal width and squared rear profile.
- Full-width status: bar-style treatment, not confirmed as continuous across the entire rear.
4. 2025 Lexus TX: slim L-shaped light-bar lamp
The three-row 2025 Lexus TX has a slim L-shaped light-bar lamp at the rear. Lexus presents it as part of the crossover’s wide, modern rear silhouette.
The TX therefore belongs on a broad list of new vehicles with taillight-bar styling, but its design is more accurately described as an L-shaped lamp than as a one-piece full-width taillight. The distinction is especially useful when comparing it with the Model Y’s explicitly described five-foot cross-car bar or the Navigator’s full-width taillamp layout.
5. 2026 Lexus ES: rear light bar integrated with the Lexus emblem
The 2026 Lexus ES takes a different approach by concentrating the bar around the brand identity. Lexus describes a single rear light bar integrated with the illuminated Lexus logo. The light bar combines taillight and stoplight functions, while other lighting elements move toward the outer edges of the rear.
That makes the ES an especially clear example of an emblem-integrated bar. It is not best understood as a full-width lamp from corner to corner. Instead, the central light bar and illuminated Lexus emblem form the focal point, with additional lighting hardware positioned separately toward the edges.
- Best classification: central, emblem-integrated rear light bar.
- Functions described by Lexus: taillight and stoplight operation.
- Full-width status: no; the bar is integrated around the emblem, with other lighting elements at the outer edges.
6. 2025 BMW X3: horizontal bar within the rear-light graphic
The 2025 BMW X3 uses a fresh T-shaped rear-light graphic with a satin-finished horizontal bar. BMW also describes integral turn-signal indicators within that horizontal bar.

- 【Easy To Install】Comply with Original 5 Pin Socket, Plug and Play; Precise Mounting Hole, No need for other parts
The X3 fits the broad styling category, but it should be kept separate from true full-width examples. BMW’s description establishes a horizontal bar integrated into the rear-light design; it does not establish one uninterrupted lamp spanning the complete width of the vehicle.
- Best classification: horizontal bar integrated into a T-shaped rear-light graphic.
- Distinctive feature: integral turn-signal indicators.
- Full-width status: not confirmed as a continuous cross-car lamp.
Which new vehicles have a truly full-width taillight bar?
Within the researched U.S.-market 2025 and 2026 vehicles, the 2025 Lincoln Navigator and the redesigned 2025+ Tesla Model Y are the clearest full-width examples. The Navigator uses full-width taillamps across the liftgate, while Tesla explicitly describes a five-foot cross-car rear light bar.
The Lexus GX 550, Lexus TX, Lexus ES, and BMW X3 are related but more specialized interpretations:

- Lexus TX: slim L-shaped light-bar lamp.
- Lexus ES: single bar integrated with the illuminated Lexus emblem.
- BMW X3: horizontal satin-finished bar within a T-shaped rear-light graphic.
These differences are not merely semantic. A buyer looking for the visual effect of a connected rear signature may be satisfied with any of them, while a buyer specifically seeking a lamp that spans the rear should focus on the Navigator and Model Y descriptions.
International examples: similar designs that are not U.S.-market cars
Lincoln Zephyr: China-market full-width light bar
Lincoln’s China-market Zephyr integrates the brand’s characteristic full-width light bar into the rear fascia. It is a valid example of the design trend, but it should be labeled as a China-market vehicle, not presented as a current U.S.-market model.
Market labeling is essential when researching lighting designs. A vehicle can use a feature in one country while a similarly named vehicle sold elsewhere has different bodywork, lamps, equipment, or availability.

A vehicle that looks like it has a taillight bar—but does not qualify here
China-market Ford Taurus: chrome connector, not a confirmed illuminated bar
The China-market Ford Taurus has multi-piece LED tail lights connected by a bright chrome bar. It can look like a full-width rear-light treatment in photographs, but Ford describes the connector as chrome, not as a functioning illuminated lamp.
For that reason, the Taurus should not be counted as a confirmed taillight-bar vehicle in the main list. It is a useful reminder that a bright rear strip, reflective trim, chrome garnish, or painted applique is not automatically a taillight.

Creating width
A horizontal rear signature visually emphasizes a vehicle’s width. This is particularly apparent on the Navigator, GX 550, and TX, where the lighting treatment reinforces a broad rear design.
Building a brand signature
Lexus uses several different executions of the idea: an L-shaped bar on the GX, a slim L-shaped lamp on the TX, and an emblem-integrated central bar on the ES. BMW uses a recognizable T-shaped graphic, while Lincoln incorporates sequential illumination into its approach sequence.
Using light in ways that are not obvious from photographs
Not every bar-shaped design uses the same hardware. Tesla’s Model Y uses indirect, externally reflected lighting projected onto an applique. Other vehicles may use separate lamp assemblies, integrated turn signals, or distinct liftgate and fascia components. Appearance alone is therefore a poor guide to replacement-part compatibility.

What to check before buying a replacement taillight
- Confirm the exact vehicle generation. The redesigned 2025+ Model Y is not automatically interchangeable with earlier Model Y versions.
- Identify the lamp location. A vehicle may have separate outer, fascia, liftgate, center, and applique-related components.
- Match the market and trim. U.S. and international versions can use different rear lighting, even when the model name is similar.
- Check left versus right. Rear lamp assemblies are commonly side-specific.
- Verify the part number or VIN fitment. A photograph or generic title is not enough for a safety-critical lighting component.
- Do not confuse an auxiliary LED light bar with a factory taillight. An off-road or auxiliary light bar is a different product and is not a replacement for the vehicle’s certified rear lighting.
Bottom line
Taillight bars are now common as a design language, but they do not all mean the same thing. The redesigned 2025+ Tesla Model Y is the most literal example, with Tesla describing a five-foot cross-car rear light bar. The 2025 Lincoln Navigator is the other clearest U.S.-market full-width example, using taillamps that extend across the liftgate and illuminate sequentially during approach.

The 2025 Lexus GX 550, 2025 Lexus TX, 2026 Lexus ES, and 2025 BMW X3 apply the idea in more specialized ways. They use unified, L-shaped, emblem-integrated, or horizontal rear-light treatments rather than necessarily presenting one uninterrupted lamp across the entire vehicle. For an accurate shopping list, that is the distinction worth keeping.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which new car has the most clearly defined full-width taillight bar?
The redesigned 2025+ Tesla Model Y is the most literal example because Tesla describes its rear system as a five-foot cross-car light bar. The 2025 Lincoln Navigator is another clear full-width example, with taillamps extending across the liftgate.
Is every horizontal strip on a car’s rear a taillight bar?
No. A chrome strip, painted applique, reflective trim, or decorative connector does not qualify unless the manufacturer identifies it as a functioning lamp. The China-market Ford Taurus, for example, uses a bright chrome connector between its LED tail lights and is excluded from the confirmed list.

Yes, in a broad styling sense, but they are not all full-width lamps. The GX uses a unified L-shaped bar, the TX a slim L-shaped lamp, the ES a central bar integrated with the illuminated Lexus emblem, and the X3 a horizontal bar within its T-shaped rear-light graphic.
What should I check before buying a replacement taillight-bar assembly?
Check the exact generation, model year, market, trim, lamp location, left/right side, part number, and—when required—VIN fitment. The redesigned 2025+ Model Y has a different rear-light system from earlier versions, and its rear lighting includes multiple fascia, rear-lamp, and liftgate-related components.
The Bottom Line
The clearest new U.S.-market full-width taillight-bar vehicles are the 2025 Lincoln Navigator and redesigned 2025+ Tesla Model Y. The 2025 Lexus GX 550, 2025 Lexus TX, 2026 Lexus ES, and 2025 BMW X3 use related bar-style rear lighting, but their designs are unified, L-shaped, emblem-integrated, or horizontal rather than confirmed as one continuous lamp.
