The repayment period can extend to 72 months. Comprehensive motor insurance is part of the arrangement, and SBM will finance the insurance premium rather than requiring the buyer to pay that premium separately at the outset. How much is the 5% Jetour deposit in Kenya?
Calculate the implied deposit by multiplying the vehicle’s invoiced purchase price by 0.05. For example, a quotation priced at KES 3,000,000 would produce a KES 150,000 purchase-price contribution at the 5% level; the final amount payable could be higher once non-financed charges are added. Use the dealer’s pro-forma invoice, not an advertised starting price, because the percentage applies to the approved purchase price.
SBM’s 95% figure is a maximum. Individual underwriting can result in a lower approved percentage, which increases the buyer’s contribution. Ask the bank to state both the approved percentage and the exact cash amount in writing.

Which banks are reported to offer 100% Jetour financing?
Kenya Breaking and Kenyan Mirror reports dated 27 October 2026 describe Absa and Equity as offering up to 100% financing for the same Jetour models. Treat those percentages as contemporaneous reporting rather than fully primary-verified terms: a targeted search did not identify an Absa Kenya primary Jetour page, and Equity’s official 15 September announcement confirms the partnership without publishing a Jetour-specific financing percentage.

Is SBM cheaper than Absa or Equity?
You cannot determine that from the deposit alone. A 100% facility removes the initial purchase-price contribution but can still cost more overall if its interest rate, processing charge, insurance premium, mandatory tracking, credit-life cover or longer term is higher. Conversely, paying 5% upfront may reduce the amount on which interest accrues without guaranteeing a lower monthly instalment.
Compare each lender on the same Jetour model, invoice price and repayment period. - Compare repayment, not just the instalment. Check the term, monthly payment, total repayment, moratorium treatment and early-settlement charge on identical assumptions.
- Confirm security and disbursement conditions before signing. Ask who holds the logbook, what insurance documentation is required, when the dealer is paid and what happens if approval is below the advertised ceiling.
Jetour Kenya describes itself as the official and exclusive Kenyan distributor and says it has financing and leasing partnerships. The dealer should therefore confirm which bank offer is currently available for the specific stock unit and provide the lender’s written conditions rather than relying on a headline percentage.
Why are these Jetour offers appearing now?
The companies cited by The Star reported that new-vehicle sales in Kenya rose 12.2% year on year in January–April 2026. They also said Chinese brands’ reported industry share increased from 0.49% five years earlier to 7.46%, while imported used-vehicle sales were estimated at 7,000–9,000 a month. Those figures help explain the push for branded new-car finance, but they do not establish affordability for an individual borrower.

SBM reported profit before tax of KES 911 million for the nine months ended September 2026, up from KES 411 million, a 122% increase. That bank-performance figure is business context, not evidence that any particular Jetour loan will be approved or affordable.
