Also, the standalone micromobility company spun out of Rivian, has announced a $3,500 starting price for the base TM-B e-bike. The Limited Launch Edition and Performance versions are listed at $4,500, and the base model was targeting late-2026 shipping in November 2025 reporting. The price is for the entry configuration—not a confirmed out-the-door total—and Also’s official site is taking refundable reservations rather than presenting the bike as ordinary in-stock merchandise.
What is Also, and what does the $3,500 price buy?
Rivian separated its micromobility business into Also, a standalone startup developing e-bikes and electric pedal-assisted quads. The TM-B is an Also product, not a Rivian-branded bicycle; Rivian is known for its electric trucks and SUVs. Engadget’s launch coverage describes the company’s Rivian connection and the TM-B concept.

Those are announced starting prices, not a verified final checkout total: taxes, delivery, accessories, financing and future price changes are not established by the pricing report. The company’s official reservation page currently presents a reservation, not a complete bike-purchase checkout.

The extra $1,000 for either higher-priced version buys more than a finish change. The figures below are announced specifications and claims, not independently measured results.

Shipping windows are company targets reported at different stages of the rollout, not verified delivery dates. Engadget’s November pricing report gives the base model’s late-2026 target; its October launch report gives the earlier premium-trim targets.
What the base model gives up
The base TM-B has half the higher trims’ maximum stated range, fewer pedal-amplification levels, a coil rather than air fork, and no sport mode. It is also gray rather than offering the higher-end finishes, including the Launch Edition’s transparent purple accents. The claimed range is a maximum, not a promise of typical use: rider and cargo weight, terrain, temperature, speed, assist setting, tire pressure and battery choice can all affect distance.
What the higher trims add
The Limited Launch Edition and Performance versions pair a larger-battery configuration with up to 100 miles of stated range, up to 10x pedal amplification, an air fork and a sport mode alongside standard. The available reporting does not establish a complete accessories list or final configured price for either trim, so buyers should verify what is included before treating the headline price as the cost of a ready-to-ride setup.

What makes the TM-B different from a conventional e-bike?
Its DreamRide system is a software-defined, or virtual, drivetrain. Rather than transferring pedal force to the rear wheel through a conventional mechanical chain connection, pedaling turns a generator that supplies energy to the battery and motor system. Engadget described the system from a product demonstration and company comments, and reported that Also says a “limp mode” is intended to help a rider reach a charging location if the battery is depleted.
This is a distinct engineering approach, not proof of a better ride or lower maintenance. It makes battery availability especially relevant and leaves practical ownership questions: how the bike feels with a depleted battery, what repairs require specialist knowledge, how replacement parts will be supplied, and whether local bike shops will service it. Buyers who value a familiar mechanical drivetrain and broad service options may prefer a conventional e-bike.
What features and utility does Also claim?
Also’s reservation page and Engadget’s launch report describe a removable USB-C battery, touchscreen display, app connectivity, built-in navigation, audio integration, lights, turn signals and anti-theft features. The TM-B is designed around modular top frames for solo riding, cargo and bench-seat configurations. Engadget reported a claimed ability to handle grades up to 30% and a 35-kilogram capacity for a bench or cargo setup.

Confirm which battery, frame modules and accessories are included in the configuration you are considering. The available product information does not establish a complete accessory price list or clarify how cargo loads and setup affect real-world range. Verify weight limits and passenger rules for the intended configuration and jurisdiction.
Can you order one, and when might it arrive?
As shown on Also’s official reservation page, a $50 payment is described as fully refundable, secures a position on a first-come, first-served waitlist and is applied toward a later purchase. It is a reservation, not the purchase price, an immediate order from inventory or a guarantee of a particular delivery date. Review the page’s reservation terms before paying.
The base model’s late-2026 shipping timing was a target reported in November 2025, not confirmation that bikes shipped on schedule. If timing matters, ask Also for the current estimate, how the waitlist affects delivery, and whether specifications or purchase terms have changed. The $3,500 announcement alone does not establish a final configured or out-the-door cost.

Speed claims and local e-bike rules
Engadget’s launch report said the throttle is limited to 20 mph and the bike can reach 28 mph with additional pedaling. Those specifications do not make the TM-B legal on every street, bike lane or trail: e-bike classifications and access rules vary by state, municipality and route. Check local class definitions, throttle restrictions, helmet requirements and trail rules before reserving. Also’s stated intention for its pedal-assisted electric quads to use bike lanes should likewise not be read as a guarantee of access in every jurisdiction.
Who should consider the $3,500 TM-B?
The base model may suit a buyer who wants the TM-B’s software, display and modular utility but can work within its stated 60-mile maximum range and does not need sport mode or the air fork. The $1,000 saving versus the higher trims is meaningful if those omitted capabilities and finishes are not priorities. A maximum claimed range may also be sufficient for shorter urban trips, though actual distance will vary with conditions.

The higher trims merit consideration if longer rides, hills, cargo or less frequent charging make the larger battery more useful, or if the air fork and sport mode matter to the route and riding style. For a buyer who does not need the TM-B’s software-defined drivetrain or integrated technology, established premium cargo-bike brands, conventional mid-drive commuters, lower-priced direct-to-consumer models and used premium e-bikes are categories worth comparing. Check dealer and repair support, battery condition and service history as relevant.
