On the evidence available, the Porsche 911 Turbo S is the more defensible provisional choice for everyday driving, because Porsche explicitly positions it for daily and long-distance use and its 2025 EU data show two luggage areas. That is a qualified inference, not the result of a directly comparable comfort test. The Nissan figures are for a 2024 U.S.-market GT-R NISMO, while the Porsche material covers a 2025 EU-market 911 Turbo S, so these are not matching model years, trims, or markets.
The GT-R NISMO remains the more distinctive choice for a driver who values its track-focused character, four-seat layout, and 600-hp drivetrain above refinement or packaging. Before buying either, compare the exact cars, drive them over your normal roads, and verify local support, condition, and equipment.

What this comparison actually covers
The name “911 Turbo” is ambiguous: the detailed Porsche evidence here is for the 2025 911 Turbo S, not an unspecified base Turbo. Nissan’s published figures are for the 2024 U.S. GT-R NISMO. Porsche’s technical sheet is EU-market data and warns that specifications can vary by country. Nissan’s brochure uses U.S. EPA fuel-economy testing. Treat the figures as a structured guide to each car, not as a controlled head-to-head test.

Published specifications: 2024 GT-R NISMO versus 2025 911 Turbo S
| Item | 2024 Nissan GT-R NISMO (U.S.) | 2025 Porsche 911 Turbo S (EU data) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 3.8-liter NISMO-tuned twin-turbo V6 | Turbo S powertrain; the cited material does not provide a directly matched engine-output figure for this table |
| Published output | 600 hp at 6,800 rpm; 481 lb-ft at 3,600–5,800 rpm | Not stated in the cited EU luggage and press material |
| Transmission | Six-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters | Not stated in the cited material |
| Drive system | ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive | Not stated in the cited material |
| Seats | Four | Not stated in the cited material; confirm the exact body style and configuration |
| Luggage volume | 8.8 cubic feet | 128 liters front and 373 liters rear, according to EU technical data |
| Fuel-economy claim | 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, 18 mpg combined (U.S. EPA estimates shared by Premium, T-spec, and NISMO) | 11.7–11.5 l/100 km combined (WLTP, EU claim) |
| Manufacturer daily-use positioning | Nissan says NISMO road cars are intended to combine track-inspired features with comfort for the daily commute | Porsche describes the Turbo S as suitable for everyday use and long-distance comfort |
The table deliberately leaves unsupported cells as “not stated.” Filling them from a different year, market, or trim would create a false comparison.
Everyday practicality: storage and passengers
GT-R NISMO: four seats, modest stated cargo volume
Nissan lists the 2024 U.S. GT-R NISMO as a four-seat coupe with 8.8 cubic feet of cargo volume. That gives the car nominal rear seating in addition to the front seats, but a brochure seat count does not establish how comfortably adults fit in back or how much usable room remains with passengers aboard. The cargo number is a published capacity figure, not an independent luggage test.
The four-seat layout can matter for occasional short trips with children or smaller passengers. If your routine requires rear-facing child seats, tall adults, or frequent rear-seat access, inspect the actual car with the equipment you use; the available material does not document rear legroom, access width, or child-seat compatibility.
911 Turbo S: two listed luggage areas
Porsche’s 2025 EU technical data list 128 liters of front luggage space and 373 liters of rear luggage space. Those are separate areas rather than a conventional single trunk. The technical document’s configuration details should be confirmed with the specific car before you plan a particular suitcase, stroller, or work-gear load. Do not assume that the combined numbers translate directly into one uninterrupted cargo compartment.
The Porsche figures are larger in aggregate than Nissan’s stated 8.8 cubic feet, but the units, measurement method, market, and model year differ. The numbers support a packaging advantage for the Porsche on paper; they do not replace a real loading trial.
How to test your own load
- Bring the largest item you routinely carry, such as a carry-on case, child seat, camera case, or grocery crate.
- Measure its length, width, and height before the appointment.
- Try the item in every relevant Porsche luggage area and in the GT-R cargo area, noting opening height and the shape of the floor.
- For family use, install your child seat and sit in the front and rear positions you would actually use.
- Photograph the loaded arrangement so you can compare cars without relying on memory.
What “everyday driving” should mean in this comparison
A daily driver is not judged only by acceleration. Consider the first five minutes of a cold start, repeated short journeys, traffic queues, parking in a narrow space, and the ability to carry the objects you actually use. A car that is enjoyable on a clear weekend road can still be frustrating if its doors cannot open in your garage, its front clearance is marginal, or its storage shape wastes available volume.

Think about frequency as well as severity. Occasional rear-seat use may favor the GT-R’s nominal four-seat layout, while a driver who carries luggage every week may value the Porsche’s separate front and rear compartments. Neither conclusion can be made from capacity totals alone: access, height, shape, and passenger positions determine whether the published space works for you.
Ride comfort, noise, visibility, and controls
No independent head-to-head test of these specified cars was established. There are no verified comparative measurements here for ride harshness, cabin noise, steering effort, visibility, parking ease, or traffic comfort. Nissan’s brochure does document dual-zone automatic climate control and other convenience equipment, while Nissan’s NISMO messaging says the road cars are intended to be comfortable on a daily commute. Those statements describe equipment and corporate intent, not measured results.
Porsche’s press-kit language is similarly a manufacturer claim: the company says the 911 Turbo S is “perfectly suitable for everyday use, comfortable, exclusively equipped, and offers impressive performance on track.” It is useful evidence of Porsche’s design positioning, but it is not an independent ride evaluation.
A route-relevant test drive is essential
- Cold start: Begin with the car cold and listen for noises or warnings. Check that climate control, cameras, parking sensors, and seat adjustments work before leaving.
- Urban section: Drive over the potholes, speed humps, tight turns, and stop-and-go traffic that define your commute. Observe low-speed clutch or transmission behavior, steering weight, brake modulation, and sight lines.
- Highway section: Hold a steady cruising speed and note wind, tire, and drivetrain noise, seat support, and whether the car tracks comfortably without constant correction.
- Parking maneuver: Use your usual garage, ramp, or street space. Check front-end clearance, turning radius, camera coverage, door opening room, and how easily you can judge the corners.
- Longer loop: Drive at least long enough to expose heat, fatigue, and seat-comfort issues. A five-minute dealership loop cannot answer those questions.
- Repeat in the other car: Use the same roads, weather conditions where possible, and driver position so your impressions are comparable.
Performance hardware and what it means in normal traffic
GT-R NISMO’s published configuration
The GT-R NISMO uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 600 hp at 6,800 rpm and 481 lb-ft from 3,600 to 5,800 rpm. Nissan pairs it with ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission operated by paddle shifters. Those figures explain the car’s performance-oriented identity, but horsepower and torque do not predict ride compliance, cabin quietness, fuel cost, or ease of maneuvering in a crowded neighborhood.
For commuting, the important question is not whether 600 hp is sufficient; it is whether the car’s controls, driveline responses, brakes, and seating suit your traffic pattern. The brochure confirms the hardware, but it does not tell you how smoothly a particular example behaves at parking-lot speeds or after years of use.

911 Turbo S positioning
The Porsche material supplied for this comparison emphasizes the Turbo S’s dual role: everyday and long-distance usability alongside track performance. It does not provide a same-format powertrain table for a direct comparison with Nissan’s output figures. Confirm the exact Turbo or Turbo S designation, body style, options, and market specification on the car you are considering.

Fuel use: do not rank EPA and WLTP numbers together
Nissan’s brochure gives U.S. EPA estimates of 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined for the Premium, T-spec, and NISMO trims listed. Porsche’s 2025 EU data give a combined WLTP figure of 11.7–11.5 l/100 km for the Turbo S. EPA and WLTP use different test procedures, traffic assumptions, and reporting units. A lower numerical value in one system is not proof of better real-world economy in the other.
For a meaningful fuel-cost estimate, obtain same-market, same-cycle data for the exact model year and calculate your own annual distance, fuel price, and driving mix. Neither source establishes commute fuel economy, and neither figure predicts the result of repeated short trips, winter use, traffic, or spirited driving.

Price, warranty, insurance, and service
No comparable purchase prices, warranty terms, insurance quotes, maintenance schedules, reliability statistics, or dealer inventories were established for this comparison. These costs vary by country, model year, mileage, options, driver, and vehicle condition. Request written local quotations rather than importing figures from another market.

Used GT-R NISMO due diligence
The Japanese archive’s discontinued-model context makes local support especially important for a used GT-R buyer, but it does not establish that parts or service are unavailable in your country. Verify the individual car’s history instead of assuming every NISMO has the same support situation.
- Obtain the complete service and ownership history, including transmission, differential, cooling, and brake work.
- Check for accident repairs, track use, modifications, warning lights, and uneven tire wear.

- Confirm that the vehicle identification number, specification, and recall status match local records.
- Ask the servicing dealer how long common and model-specific parts typically take to source.
Used or new Porsche verification
For the Porsche, first establish whether the car is a Turbo or Turbo S, then record model year, body style, market, and options. Those details affect the relevance of the 2025 EU figures and the way the luggage areas are configured. Inspect the same wear, history, tire, brake, and electronics items you would check on the Nissan.
Which car suits which daily-driving priority?
| Your priority | More defensible starting point | Why the evidence points that way |
|---|---|---|
| Published everyday and long-distance positioning | 911 Turbo S | Porsche explicitly makes that claim in its 2025 press material; it remains a manufacturer statement rather than an independent test. |
| Documented passenger count | GT-R NISMO | Nissan lists four seats; practical rear-seat comfort still requires an inspection. |
| Documented luggage layout | 911 Turbo S | EU data list 128 L front and 373 L rear; confirm the measurement configuration before planning loads. |
| Track-inspired character and published output | GT-R NISMO | 600 hp, 481 lb-ft, AWD, and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission are stated for the 2024 U.S. car. |
| Comparable fuel-economy ranking | Neither, without more data | Nissan uses EPA mpg and Porsche uses WLTP l/100 km, so the claims are not directly rankable. |
| Predictable ownership cost | Neither, without local quotes | No comparable maintenance, insurance, warranty, reliability, or inventory evidence is established. |
A decision checklist before you buy
- Write down your exact target: Nissan model year and market, or Porsche Turbo versus Turbo S.
- Measure your garage, driveway angle, and regular parking spaces.
- List the people and objects the car must carry every week, not just on occasional trips.
- Drive both cars on the same commute route, including rough pavement and highway time.
- Test every storage area with your own luggage or child-seat equipment.
- Get local fuel, insurance, servicing, warranty, and tire quotations.
- For a used car, pay for an independent inspection and verify parts and specialist access.
- Check current market availability rather than assuming a brochure or archive reflects today’s inventory.
Verdict
For a buyer asking only which is the safer everyday-driving bet from the documented evidence, choose the 911 Turbo S as the provisional front-runner. Its manufacturer explicitly claims daily and long-distance suitability, and Porsche publishes a two-area luggage arrangement that appears more practical on paper. That conclusion is an inference from packaging and positioning, not a measured comfort verdict.

Choose the GT-R NISMO when its four-seat layout, 600-hp NISMO drivetrain, and distinctive performance character matter more than an unproven advantage in ride or storage usability. The right answer can change with model year, market, options, condition, and your route. A same-route test drive and a condition-specific inspection are more decisive than either brochure.

Is the GT-R NISMO a practical daily driver?
It can be, depending on your priorities and the individual car. Nissan’s 2024 U.S. brochure lists four seats, 8.8 cubic feet of cargo volume, dual-zone automatic climate control and a dual-clutch transmission. Nissan also markets NISMO road cars as suitable for a daily commute. Those are published layout and manufacturer-positioning claims, not proof of ride comfort, rear-seat space, parking ease or long-term reliability. Test the exact car on your route.
Is the Porsche 911 Turbo S more comfortable than the GT-R NISMO?
The available material does not establish a measured comfort winner. Porsche’s 2025 press material says the Turbo S is suitable for everyday use and long-distance comfort, while Nissan describes NISMO road cars as comfortable for commuting. Treat the Porsche as the more defensible provisional choice only because of that explicit positioning and its documented luggage layout, then verify the result on rough pavement, in traffic and on the highway.
Which has more usable cargo space?
Porsche’s 2025 EU data list 128 liters in front and 373 liters in the rear, while Nissan lists 8.8 cubic feet for the 2024 U.S. GT-R NISMO. The Porsche totals appear larger on paper, but the units, markets, model years and measurement methods differ. The Porsche areas are separate compartments, not one conventional trunk. Bring your own suitcase, stroller or work case and load both cars before deciding.
Can adults use the GT-R NISMO’s rear seats?
Nissan confirms a four-seat layout but does not provide the rear legroom, access width or adult comfort information needed to answer that reliably. Rear seats may be useful for children or short trips, but anyone who regularly carries adults should sit in the actual car and check entry, headroom and front-seat positioning. Install any child seat you use during the inspection.

There is no defensible answer from the cited figures alone. Nissan reports 16 mpg city, 22 highway and 18 combined under U.S. EPA testing. Porsche reports 11.7–11.5 l/100 km combined under the EU WLTP cycle. The systems are not directly comparable, and no local fuel, tire, maintenance, insurance or warranty quotes were established. Use same-market data and your annual mileage for a real budget.

Should I compare a GT-R NISMO with a 911 Turbo or Turbo S?
First identify the exact Porsche. The detailed Porsche information here applies to the 2025 911 Turbo S, not an unspecified 911 Turbo. Record the designation, model year, body style, market and options before comparing specifications or luggage figures. A used-car comparison can involve entirely different years and equipment, so do not transfer the 2025 EU data to another version without checking its own technical sheet.
Is a new GT-R NISMO still available?
Availability is market-specific. Nissan’s Japanese archive places the GT-R in a discontinued-model context and shows the 2025 listing period ending in September 2025. That does not prove that every country has ended sales or that a particular used example is unavailable. Check local inventory, registration rules, dealer support and parts access at the time you shop.
What should I inspect on a used GT-R NISMO?
Request the complete ownership and service history, including transmission, differential, cooling and brake work. Check for accident repairs, track use, modifications, warning lights and uneven tire wear. Pay an independent specialist to inspect the underbody, suspension, drivetrain, electronics and fluids, then confirm the vehicle identification number, recall status and likely parts lead times with a local dealer.
What is the fairest way to test these cars for commuting?
Drive both cars on the same route and in the same order where possible. Start cold, include stop-and-go traffic, potholes and speed humps, then spend time at highway speed. Test your normal parking space or garage, check cameras and clearance, and repeat the storage test with your own luggage. A short dealer loop cannot reveal fatigue, heat, seat comfort or repeated low-speed behavior.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The 2025 Porsche 911 Turbo S is the more defensible provisional everyday-driving pick because Porsche claims daily and long-distance suitability and lists substantial front and rear luggage areas. The 2024 U.S. Nissan GT-R NISMO counters with four seats, 600 hp and a distinctive NISMO character. Because the evidence covers different markets and years and lacks a direct comfort test, the final decision should come from an identical-route test drive, a real cargo trial and local ownership checks.
