No—the Chevy Chevelle did not return as a factory-built 2025 model. General Motors never announced a production Chevelle, Chevrolet never released an official order guide or pricing, and the car does not appear in Chevrolet’s U.S. vehicle lineup.
The rumor grew from AI-generated renderings, speculative articles, and confusion with a real independently built Chevelle tribute: Trans Am Worldwide’s 70/SS. That car is not designed, manufactured, sold, or warrantied by Chevrolet or General Motors.

Was there an official 2025 Chevy Chevelle?
No. There was no Chevrolet press release, product announcement, dealer order guide, production schedule, or official reveal for a 2025 Chevelle. Chevrolet’s modern performance lineup instead includes vehicles such as the Corvette, Blazer EV SS, and performance trucks and SUVs.

That means the frequently repeated claims about a new Chevelle SS should not be treated as confirmed specifications. Chevrolet did not announce a 6.2-liter V8 Chevelle, a factory electric “ChEVelle SS,” or a production coupe priced between $30,000 and $40,000.

Where did the Chevelle revival rumor come from?
Many of the images circulating online were artist-created or AI-generated renderings. They were often presented in videos and social-media posts as though they were official Chevrolet previews. Some images even included obvious artificial-intelligence mistakes, including misspelled branding such as “CHEVROLL.”
An image is not evidence of a production vehicle. For a genuine Chevrolet launch, buyers should be able to find supporting information through GM or Chevrolet, such as a formal announcement, a vehicle page, specifications, ordering information, or dealer documentation.
The rumor also gained momentum after GM confirmed that Camaro production would end after the 2024 model year. That decision encouraged speculation that Chevrolet would replace the Camaro with another rear-wheel-drive, retro-inspired performance coupe. GM did not identify the Chevelle as the Camaro’s successor.

The real modern Chevelle-style car: Trans Am Worldwide 70/SS
There is a real modern vehicle inspired by the 1970 Chevelle SS, but it is not a Chevrolet. Trans Am Worldwide announced its 70/SS on May 9, 2022, and opened it to the public on May 14, 2022.
The 70/SS is an independently built aftermarket car based on a modern platform. Trans Am Worldwide’s listed performance packages include:
| Version | Claimed output | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Base | 450 horsepower | LT1-powered 70/SS |
| 396 upgrade | 900 rear-wheel horsepower | 396-cubic-inch performance package |
| LS6/X | Up to 1,500 rear-wheel horsepower | Twin-turbo 454 package |
The LS6/X version is limited to 25 units and is listed as sold out by the builder. Those figures describe Trans Am Worldwide’s custom-built 70/SS, not a GM-engineered Chevelle.

Why calling the 70/SS a Chevy Chevelle is misleading
The 70/SS draws its styling and name inspiration from the classic Chevelle, but it is not a Chevrolet product. General Motors did not engineer or manufacture it, and Chevrolet dealers do not sell it as a regular production model.

The distinction matters for ownership. A genuine Chevrolet vehicle would have GM product documentation, Chevrolet warranty coverage, factory parts support, and a place in the manufacturer’s model lineup. The 70/SS instead follows the builder’s own ordering, construction, warranty, and support arrangements.
Claims about the 2025 Chevelle that remain unsupported
- An official 2025 Chevrolet Chevelle reveal
- A confirmed Chevelle SS production model
- A factory-installed 6.2-liter V8
- A $30,000-to-$40,000 starting price
- Confirmed horsepower, acceleration figures, trims, or release dates
- A Chevrolet electric model called the “ChEVelle SS”
- AI renderings being official Chevrolet design images
- The Trans Am Worldwide 70/SS being built by Chevy or GM
How to check future Chevelle claims
- Check Chevrolet’s official vehicle lineup. A production model should appear on Chevrolet’s website rather than only in social posts or video thumbnails.
- Look for a GM announcement. Major launches typically include an official news release with a model name, timing, and product details.
- Look for ordering information. A real near-term vehicle normally has dealer materials, an order guide, or a manufacturer-backed pricing announcement.
- Separate renderings from photography. Concept art and AI images can illustrate an idea but do not confirm that GM intends to build it.
- Check who actually builds the car. A specialty company may produce a Chevelle-inspired vehicle without having any connection to Chevrolet.
Will there be a 2026 or 2027 Chevelle?
There was no confirmed 2025 Chevelle, and future stories about a 2026, 2027, or electric Chevelle should be considered speculation unless GM formally announces one. The end of Camaro production does not, by itself, establish that Chevrolet is preparing a Chevelle replacement.

The Bottom Line
There was no 2025 Chevy Chevelle. The widely shared specifications and images came from rumor coverage and unofficial renderings. The legitimate modern Chevelle-inspired alternative is Trans Am Worldwide’s 70/SS, an independently built specialty car first announced in 2022—not a new Chevrolet model.
