By 2025 U.S. sales, the Dodge Durango was the brand’s most popular listed model, with 81,168 units sold. That is a sales-volume answer, not a universal popularity score. Owner sentiment is a separate measure: in the 2025 J.D. Power APEAL Study, the Durango tied for first in the upper midsize SUV segment, while Dodge ranked second among mass-market brands after a 31-point improvement. The best way to answer “most popular Dodge” is therefore to examine dated sales first, then use owner-focused survey evidence to understand how buyers feel about the vehicles.
Start by defining “most popular”
“Popular” can mean several different things in the car market. A model may sell the most new vehicles, attract the most online searches, retain value well, receive the strongest owner-satisfaction score, or simply have the most visible enthusiast following. Those measures do not produce the same ranking.

For a clear, reproducible answer, this guide uses full-year U.S. sales as the primary definition. The figures are calendar-year 2025 units reported in an FCA US LLC sales summary. They describe new-vehicle volume in the United States, not worldwide demand, used-car registrations, search interest, resale performance, reliability, or the number of owners who recommend a vehicle.
Owner sentiment is treated separately. The strongest owner-oriented evidence available here is the 2025 J.D. Power APEAL Study result reported by Stellantis North America. APEAL measures emotional attachment and excitement across 37 attributes. It can show that a model performed well on that survey, but it does not convert into a complete list of every feature owners prefer.

The 2025 U.S. Dodge sales ranking
The table below reproduces the listed Dodge model entries for calendar year 2025 and the supplied 2024 comparison figures. The sales are attributed to FCA US LLC; the report is U.S.-specific.
| Model or table entry | 2025 U.S. units | 2024 U.S. units | Year-over-year change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Durango | 81,168 | 59,357 | +37% |
| Hornet | 9,365 | 20,559 | -54% |
| Charger (gas row) | 2,141 | 34,754 | -94% |
| Charger BEV | 7,421 | 0 | New entry in this table |
| Challenger | 1,800 | 27,056 | -93% |
| Dodge brand total | 101,927 | 141,730 | -28% |
On this definition, the Durango is the clear leader: its 81,168 units are more than the other individual model or table entries shown. The Hornet is second at 9,365 units. The Hornet’s 2024 comparison number is 20,559; that is not its 2025 total.
The Charger entries require particular care. The sales summary separates a gas-powered Charger row from a Charger BEV row. Adding 2,141 and 7,421 produces an arithmetic total of 9,562, but that sum combines two separately reported powertrain entries. It should not be presented as though it were a single, like-for-like product line in the same sense as the Durango row. The transition between the previous-generation cars and the newer Charger rollout also makes a simple year-over-year decline an unreliable measure of what owners value.

The 2025 table establishes market uptake, not the reason each buyer purchased a vehicle. It does, however, put the models in different practical contexts.
Durango: the volume leader
The Durango is the only model in this list with more than 80,000 U.S. sales for 2025. It is the brand’s three-row SUV entry, so its appeal is evaluated in a different use case from a two- or four-door Charger. Buyers considering passenger capacity, cargo flexibility, towing, or an elevated SUV driving position are not making the same decision as buyers shopping primarily for a performance-oriented car.
Rank #2
- 1:25 scale, skill level 2, paint & glue required
- 91 parts
- Molded in white, clear, transparent red, and some chrome-plated parts
- Black vinyl tires
- Metal axle
Hornet: a smaller second-place total
The Hornet recorded 9,365 U.S. units in 2025, down from 20,559 in the comparison year. That makes it the second-highest individual entry in the supplied table, but its volume is far below the Durango’s. The figures alone cannot establish whether the change reflects pricing, inventory, product-cycle timing, incentives, consumer preferences, or another factor.
Charger rows: do not hide the powertrain split
The report’s separate gas and battery-electric rows matter because they represent different powertrain choices and a changing product range. Keep them separate when quoting the source. If you mention the combined 9,562 figure, label it explicitly as the sum of the two rows rather than a directly comparable single-model total.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChallenger: a low 2025 transition-year number
The Challenger’s 1,800 units in the table compare with 27,056 in 2024. That large decline occurs alongside a product transition and should not be interpreted as a survey of Challenger owners’ preferences or as proof that the model’s characteristic features were unpopular.
What the owner-focused evidence actually says
Sales answer “what was purchased most often?” They do not answer “which vehicle produced the greatest owner enthusiasm?” For that second question, Stellantis North America’s July 25, 2025 report on the J.D. Power APEAL Study provides a qualified signal.
- The Dodge Durango tied for first in the upper midsize SUV segment.
- Dodge ranked second among mass-market brands.
- Dodge’s brand score improved by 31 points.
- The study covers 37 attributes related to owners’ emotional attachment and excitement.
Stellantis describes APEAL as measuring “owners’ emotional attachment and level of excitement with their new vehicle across 37 attributes, ranging from the sense of comfort and luxury to the thrill they get when accelerating.” This wording explains the study’s scope: it is an experience and attachment measure, not a reliability audit, operating-cost survey, or sales count.
Rank #3
- Brand new box. Black vinyl tires. Detailed interior. Colorful decal artwork. Vintage style packaging. Optional custom wheels. Officially licensed product. Chrome plated small parts. Contains 179 detailed parts. 6.2L V8 supercharged Hemi engine. Paint and cement required (not included). Manufacturer's original unopened packaging. Parts molded in WHITE, unless otherwise indicated.
The Durango’s tie for first supports saying that it performed strongly on this owner-emotion measure in the 2025 study. It does not establish that the Durango was the most-loved Dodge in every category, nor does the reported summary identify which of the 37 attributes drove its result. Consequently, it would be inaccurate to claim—without additional evidence—that surveyed owners specifically praised its V8, comfort, reliability, towing, technology, or any other individual feature.
The 31-point Dodge brand gain is also a brand-level result. It should not be converted into a claim that every Dodge model improved by 31 points. Likewise, the statement that Dodge ranked second is based on the mass-market-brand ranking in that study, not on a universal ranking of all automakers or every vehicle type.
Stellantis senior vice president of quality Yuri Rodrigues described the result as a testament to Dodge’s “bold identity and deep connection with its customers.” That is a manufacturer spokesperson’s interpretation of the ranking, not a verbatim statement from surveyed owners. Keeping that attribution visible prevents a promotional interpretation from being mistaken for a direct owner quotation.
What is current in the Dodge lineup for 2026
Sales data from 2025 and current-model information from 2026 describe different moments. Use the sales table to answer which listed model sold the most in 2025; use the following specifications to understand the vehicles available in the current model context. Manufacturer specifications and awards are not the same evidence as independent testing or owner surveys.
2026 Charger: gasoline and electric choices
A Dodge announcement dated February 5, 2026 describes a Charger lineup with gasoline SIXPACK-powered R/T and Scat Pack versions and an all-electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack. The release says all models have standard all-wheel drive and that the lineup is offered in two- and four-door forms.

- ICONIC BRANDING: Attention to detail and expert styling enhances this 2021 Dodge Charger vehicle
- ENHANCEMENTS: Highly detailed sculpt, premium paint detail and custom logos
- HIT THE ROAD: Opening doors, premium rubber tires
- Ages 8+
| 2026 Charger version | Manufacturer-reported output | Evidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Charger R/T, gasoline SIXPACK | 420 horsepower | Manufacturer-reported specification in the February 5, 2026 release |
| Charger Scat Pack, gasoline SIXPACK | 550 horsepower | Manufacturer-reported specification in the February 5, 2026 release |
| Charger Daytona Scat Pack, electric | 670 horsepower | Manufacturer-reported specification in the February 5, 2026 release |
MotorWeek selected the Charger for its 2026 Drivers’ Choice Best of the Year and Best Sport Coupe awards, according to the same Dodge release. Those are judging-panel awards. They can help a shopper understand how the vehicle was evaluated by that organization, but they are not owner-satisfaction scores and should not be blended into the APEAL ranking.
2026 Durango: trim and price context
Dodge’s March 24, 2026 announcement lists the following U.S. starting MSRPs and the specifications stated for those versions:
| 2026 Durango version | Starting U.S. MSRP | Published performance or capability detail |
|---|---|---|
| GT V6 | $38,995 | Trim and starting price stated by Dodge |
| GT HEMI AWD | $43,675 | Trim, all-wheel-drive designation, and starting price stated by Dodge |
| R/T 392 Launch Edition | $49,995 | 475 horsepower, 470 lb.-ft. of torque, and 8,700-pound stated towing capacity |
| SRT Hellcat | $79,995 | Trim and starting price stated by Dodge |
These are dated U.S. starting MSRPs, not transaction prices. Destination charges, options, dealer pricing, taxes, incentives, inventory, and later model-year changes can alter what a buyer actually pays. Verify configuration and order status with Dodge or a dealer before treating any listed price as current.
Match the popularity question to your buying decision
A sales leader is not automatically the best choice for every driver. Use the evidence in separate lanes so that a high sales number does not obscure the practical differences between the vehicles.
Choose the Durango-oriented path when utility comes first
- Begin with its three-row SUV format and the passenger and cargo requirements that follow from that body style.
- Check the exact engine, drivetrain, seating, and towing configuration for the model year and trim you are considering.
- Use the 8,700-pound towing figure only for the 2026 Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition as stated by Dodge; do not transfer it to every Durango.
- Treat the APEAL result as evidence of strong owner attachment in its segment, not as a guarantee that every buyer will value the same attributes.
Choose the Charger-oriented path when the car format and powertrain matter most
- Decide first whether a gasoline SIXPACK R/T or Scat Pack, or the electric Daytona Scat Pack, fits your charging, fueling, performance, and daily-use requirements.
- Confirm whether you need the two-door or four-door form offered in the 2026 lineup.
- Compare the manufacturer-reported horsepower figures within the same powertrain category; do not treat horsepower as a complete measure of acceleration, range, efficiency, ride comfort, or operating cost.
- Keep the 2025 gas Charger and Charger BEV sales rows distinct when using market data.
Use the Hornet or Challenger figures as context, not as owner verdicts
The Hornet’s 9,365-unit 2025 total and the Challenger’s 1,800-unit total tell you how many units appeared in the supplied U.S. sales table. They do not reveal whether owners liked their styling, engines, interior, reliability, or value. If those are your deciding factors, you need model-specific owner reviews or survey attributes rather than a sales ranking.

A repeatable way to find the most popular Dodge model
If you want to update this comparison for a later year, follow a consistent process. The method prevents a powertrain transition or a mislabeled comparison year from producing a misleading winner.
- Set the geography and period. State that you are using U.S. calendar-year sales, and identify the exact year. Do not combine U.S. annual units with global deliveries or partial-year results.
- Use the automaker’s sales table. Record the publisher named in the table, the reporting entity, and every Dodge model or table entry shown.
- Copy the rows exactly before calculating. Preserve separate entries such as “Charger” and “Charger BEV.” Do not silently merge them.
- Check the comparison-year column. In the supplied table, the Hornet’s 20,559 belongs to 2024, while 9,365 belongs to 2025. Confirm that each percentage change uses the correct pair of years.
- Rank individual entries first. Identify the highest single row, then disclose any combined arithmetic totals separately. A combined number may be useful, but it is not necessarily a comparable model total.
- Explain product-cycle effects. Note when a model is being replaced, relaunched, split by powertrain, or absent from a prior-year column. Such changes can make a percentage change look more dramatic than a stable owner preference would.
- Add an owner-sentiment source. Look for a dated survey that identifies its measured construct. Say whether it measures attachment, satisfaction, reliability, or another outcome; never label one measure as another.
- Keep awards separate. A judging panel’s award may be relevant context, but it is not a sales count or an owner survey.
- Date volatile specifications and prices. Model-year horsepower, trim availability, MSRP, and order status can change. Attach the date and country to each figure.
- State what the evidence cannot show. If the source does not disclose feature-level owner ratings, do not fill the gap with generalized claims about what “owners love.”
How to read sales, surveys, and specifications without mixing them
| Question | Best evidence in this comparison | What it can support | What it cannot support by itself |
|---|---|---|---|
| Which listed Dodge sold the most in 2025? | FCA US LLC calendar-year U.S. sales table | Durango ranked first by listed unit volume with 81,168 | That Durango is best for every driver or most satisfying in every category |
| How did owners respond emotionally? | 2025 J.D. Power APEAL result reported by Stellantis North America | Durango tied for first in its upper midsize SUV segment; Dodge ranked second among mass-market brands | Which individual features every owner preferred, or how the model ranks for reliability |
| What does the current model offer? | Dodge’s 2026 announcements | Published horsepower, trim, towing, drivetrain, award, and starting-MSRP details | Independent test results, real transaction prices, or universal owner approval |
This separation also explains why the Durango can be both the sales leader and a strong APEAL performer without claiming that one result caused the other. Sales reflect purchasing volume; APEAL reflects the measured owner experience; specifications describe what the manufacturer says the current vehicles provide.
Limits of the available owner information
The APEAL summary does not provide a model-by-model list of owner comments or a feature-level scorecard for the Durango. It therefore cannot substantiate broad statements such as “owners love the V8,” “families rave about the comfort,” or “Dodge owners praise reliability.” Those statements may be true for some individuals, but they require separate, directly sourced evidence.

Any article that presents one blended ranking should explain how it weights those incompatible measures. For a transparent answer, report the dated sales ranking first and then identify the owner-survey result as a different lens.
Bottom line for a Dodge shopper
If “most popular” means the most new vehicles sold in the United States during 2025, choose the Dodge Durango as the answer: 81,168 units, according to the FCA US LLC sales summary. If the question is which Dodge has the strongest owner-emotion evidence in the available 2025 study, the Durango again stands out by tying for first in the upper midsize SUV segment of J.D. Power’s APEAL Study. Those two findings point in the same direction, but they measure different things.
The practical next step is to decide whether your needs match the Durango’s three-row SUV format or the Charger’s two- or four-door gasoline and electric choices. Then verify the exact model year, trim, price, drivetrain, and availability, and treat manufacturer specifications, awards, sales figures, and owner surveys as distinct pieces of evidence rather than one all-purpose popularity score.
