Choose the Ampere Nexus EX+ if you prioritise higher claimed speed, faster 0–80% charging and a longer standard battery warranty. Choose the Ather Rizta if you need a lower displayed entry price, a choice of battery configurations, a family-focused layout and access to Ather’s published public-charging network. The decision depends on the exact Rizta variant, your daily distance, home-charging arrangement, local service access and how each scooter fits you on a test ride.
The figures below are current manufacturer-listed specifications and prices, not a controlled independent comparison. IDC range is a test-cycle claim; it is not a promise of the distance you will achieve in traffic, heat, hills or with a passenger.

| Public charging information | No comparable network total is stated in the supplied current specification | Ather says more than 6,100 points in 370+ cities |
These are not all like-for-like variants. In particular, the Rizta’s 123 km and 161 km figures should not be averaged or assigned to every trim. Ask the dealer to put the battery capacity, range claim and included equipment on the quotation.

Ampere Nexus EX+: performance-led commuter
Ampere’s current Nexus page positions the scooter around its chassis and road performance. The company describes the Nexus as having a “dual-frame steel chassis” and lists a 3 kWh battery, 93 km/h top speed and 136 km IDC range. That combination suits a rider who spends time on faster urban roads and wants more headroom beyond typical low-speed city traffic.

The 93 km/h figure does not mean the scooter should be ridden at that speed continuously. Wind, tyre pressure, rider weight, gradients and battery state affect acceleration and energy use. Treat the higher top-speed number as useful reserve for joining faster traffic, not as an everyday range target.
Ather Rizta: family-oriented flexibility
Ather presents the Rizta as a family scooter and sells it in more than one battery and equipment configuration. Its current product page displays S and Z starting prices, 123 km and 161 km IDC range figures across the lineup, and an 80 km/h top speed. Ather’s July 1, 2025 announcement separately described a Rizta S with a 3.7 kWh battery, 159 km IDC range and a Delhi launch ex-showroom price of ₹137,047.
The July 2025 figures and the current product-page figures are not interchangeable. They may refer to different trims, dates or pricing bases. When comparing a Rizta with the Nexus, identify the exact battery and variant code on the quote rather than relying on the model name alone.
Price: the displayed number is only the starting point
Current displayed prices
The current Ampere listing shows the Nexus EX+ at ₹1,29,999, with mandatory accessories charged separately. Ather’s current page shows the Rizta S at ₹1,21,999 and the Rizta Z at ₹1,36,999. Those are displayed manufacturer prices, not guaranteed city on-road totals.

Range and battery: how to read the claims
Published specifications
| Specification | Nexus EX+ | Rizta |
|---|---|---|
| Battery capacity | 3 kWh | Configuration-dependent; Ather has published a 3.7 kWh version |
| IDC range | 136 km | 123 km or 161 km on the current lineup page; 159 km for the 3.7 kWh Rizta S in Ather’s July 2025 announcement |
| Top speed | 93 km/h | 80 km/h |
IDC is a standardised certification-cycle result. It allows published models to be compared under the test procedure, but it is not a real-world guarantee. Actual distance varies with speed, stop-start traffic, hills, temperature, tyre pressure, payload, riding mode and how much reserve you keep before charging.
Calculate the range margin you actually need
- Record your longest normal day, including school runs, work, shopping and an unplanned detour.
- Double the one-way distance if you normally return home before charging.
- Add a reserve for traffic and weather instead of planning to arrive at zero percent.
- Compare that requirement with the exact battery variant’s IDC figure, not the highest number shown for the model family.
- Repeat the calculation for a passenger, a hill route or a route where public charging is unreliable.
For example, a rider covering 45 km on a busy day needs 90 km for a round trip before adding reserve. Either scooter’s published figure appears higher than that, but the margin may shrink substantially at sustained high speed or with two people on steep roads. The available sources do not establish a same-route, same-weather, current-variant range test, so no definitive everyday-range winner can be claimed.
Independent cross-check and why the numbers differ
Autocar India’s comparison lists 5 kW maximum power and 3 kWh for the Nexus, versus 4.3 kW and 3.7 kWh for a Rizta configuration. It lists 136 km and 160 km claimed range, with top speeds of 93 km/h and 80 km/h respectively. Those Rizta values describe a particular configuration and differ slightly from Ather’s current display. Use the manufacturer’s current variant sheet for a purchase decision.

Charging at home and away
Nexus charging
Ampere’s current Nexus specification states 0–80% charging in 3.10 hours. That is the relevant figure for a typical daily top-up: most owners do not need to refill from empty every night. Confirm the supplied charger’s input requirements and whether your parking socket can support it safely.
Rizta charging configurations
Ather lists two sets of times on its current specifications page: 0–100% in 7 hours 25 minutes or 4 hours 30 minutes, and 0–80% in 6 hours or 3 hours 25 minutes. The pairings correspond to different configurations. Ask which time applies to the battery and charger in your written quote.
If the scooter is parked at home overnight, both listed 0–80% times can fit a normal charging window. If you have only a short midday stop, the faster configuration matters more than the model’s headline range. Check where the charging connector sits, whether the cable reaches your parking space and whether building management permits charging.

Public charging and the Ather network
Ather says its network has more than 6,100 charging points in 370-plus cities. The company also lists up to 15 km of added range in 10 minutes, with the exact result varying by configuration. Network size does not guarantee a useful charger on your route: a point may be out of service, occupied, behind access restrictions or several kilometres from home and work.

- Visit at least one nearby point at a busy time to see whether access is practical.
- Plan a fallback destination or enough home-charge reserve for a failed public session.
The supplied current Nexus material does not provide a comparable public-network total. That is not evidence that charging is unavailable; it means you should ask the local retailer which public options and service arrangements apply in your city.
Warranty and long-term battery risk
Standard cover shown today
| Coverage | Nexus EX+ | Rizta |

On the displayed standard terms, the Nexus gives a longer time and distance allowance. Read the warranty booklet rather than assuming every electrical component receives the same cover as the traction battery. Ask about proof of scheduled servicing, water damage, accident damage, misuse, charging equipment and the process for a capacity or health claim.
Ather Eight70: optional, dated programme
Ather’s July 2025 launch announcement described an optional Eight70 programme offering up to 8 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first, with a minimum 70% battery-health assurance. That announcement is not the same as the standard three-year/30,000-km warranty shown on the current Rizta page. Confirm current availability, price, eligibility, transfer rules and exclusions in writing before treating Eight70 as part of the scooter’s cost.

Use this test-ride checklist
- Seat and reach: Can you place both feet securely at a stop, and does the seat support your lower back?
- Pillion position: Ask an adult passenger to sit for several minutes. Check knee angle, grab points and whether their weight changes low-speed balance.
- Parking: Push the scooter backwards, turn it in a tight space and lift it onto its stand. This reveals handling and weight issues that a short road loop may hide.
- Controls: Try the indicators, switches, mirrors, display and reverse or parking functions while wearing the gloves and helmet you normally use.
- Ride quality: Cross a speed breaker, rough patch and gentle slope. Listen for rattles and note how the suspension behaves with and without a passenger.
- Storage: Put your real helmet, rain gear and charging cable where you expect to carry them. Do not infer storage capacity from styling photographs.
Take the same route on both scooters if possible. Include a narrow turn, a faster road, a stop-start section and a hill. Record how easy each is to place at a kerbside stop and how confident you feel with a passenger.
Which scooter suits which rider?
Choose the Nexus EX+ when these priorities dominate
- You value the listed 93 km/h top speed for faster urban roads.
- A 0–80% charge time of 3.10 hours fits your routine.
- You want the longer displayed standard battery warranty of 5 years/75,000 km.
- The 3 kWh battery and 136 km IDC claim provide enough margin for your verified daily route.
- Your local dealer can provide dependable sales, service and parts support.
Choose the Rizta when these priorities dominate
- You want the lower displayed starting price of ₹1,21,999 for the S, subject to your city’s final on-road quote.
- You need to choose between battery or equipment configurations rather than accepting one specification.
- The family layout, passenger comfort and storage arrangement suit your household after a test ride.
- Your regular routes are close to practical Ather charging points and you will use that network.
- You are willing to compare the standard three-year/30,000-km cover with the cost and terms of any optional Eight70 upgrade.
Do not choose on one headline number
A higher top speed is irrelevant if your route is short and your passenger dislikes the seat. A longer IDC range is less valuable if the larger-battery variant exceeds your budget or takes longer to charge at home. A larger public network is useful only when a working point is near the places you actually travel. Match the specification to your routine, then verify the local ownership conditions.
A purchase decision in six steps
- Define your route: Write down daily kilometres, maximum round-trip distance, hills, passenger use and the fastest road you regularly take.
- Select the exact variants: Compare Nexus EX+ with the specific Rizta S or Z battery configuration quoted by the dealer.
- Get same-day on-road prices: Include registration, insurance, accessories, charger installation and any warranty programme.
- Audit charging: Measure your parking distance from the electrical socket and verify overnight time. Map a public fallback for both home and work.
- Read warranty terms: Record the time and kilometre limit, whichever-first rule, battery-health threshold and exclusions.
- Test ride both: Repeat the same route with your normal passenger and equipment, then choose the scooter that leaves useful range and comfort margin.
Questions to ask the dealer before paying
- Which battery capacity and range figure are printed on this exact Rizta quotation?
- Is the quoted price ex-showroom or on-road, and which mandatory accessories are excluded?
- What charger is supplied, what electrical load does it require and who handles installation?
- Where is the nearest authorised service centre, and how are roadside or immobilised-scooter cases handled?
- Does the warranty begin on invoicing, registration or delivery?
- If I select optional battery coverage, what is the total price, minimum health guarantee and whichever-first limit?
- Can you demonstrate the scooter with a passenger and show the storage space using my helmet?
Bottom line
The Nexus EX+ is the specification-led choice: its displayed 93 km/h top speed, 3.10-hour 0–80% charging claim and 5-year/75,000-km standard battery warranty are stronger on paper. The Rizta is the flexibility-led choice: its S starts at a lower displayed price, its lineup offers different battery configurations, and Ather publishes a large charging-network footprint and a family-oriented design pitch. Because current prices, variants, charging details and offers can change, buy only after a city-specific quote, a written warranty check and back-to-back test rides.
