BMW says the electric i3 shares the new 3 Series design, interior and digital operating system with combustion models, but has a different drivetrain. What is the range of the BMW i3 50 xDrive Sedan?
There is no single range figure that applies across markets and test cycles. BMW’s current U.S. model page gives a preliminary estimate of 446–468 miles, based on BMW AG testing using EPA test procedure standards; it cautions that recent models may not yet be fully EPA-certified. BMW Group’s updated 3 Series information lists up to 912 km (567 miles) under WLTP. These are different estimates using different procedures, so they should not be treated as interchangeable or as one universally certified range.

BMW says actual range can vary with equipment, tires and wheels, load, route, driving style, weather, auxiliary power use, battery age and condition, and charging frequency. Compare the U.S. estimate with other U.S. EPA-procedure figures, or compare WLTP with WLTP, rather than ranking cars using figures from different cycles.
How long does the BMW i3 50 xDrive Sedan need to charge?
BMW lists a maximum DC charging rate of 400 kW. Its U.S. page says the car can add 191–208 miles in ten minutes and charge from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes under suitable maximum-rate charging conditions. BMW Group’s updated global information instead states up to 423 km (263 miles) of WLTP range added in ten minutes. The distance-added claims use different regional measures; neither is a guarantee of what a particular charging stop will deliver.

Charging speed depends on the charger’s output and infrastructure, as well as battery temperature and condition, vehicle equipment, settings, driving profile and auxiliary loads. What are the i3’s design and technology features?
BMW presents the sedan as a modern interpretation of the 3 Series, with a 2.5-box silhouette, long wheelbase, short overhangs, rear-sloping greenhouse and flared wheel arches. At the front, the light signature integrates the grille and twin headlights; horizontal rear lights define the tail.

The driver-focused cockpit includes BMW Panoramic iDrive and a free-cut central display. BMW also highlights Heart of Joy, its driving-dynamics computer, and BMW Symbiotic Drive. The company describes the handling and driving-dynamics system in favorable terms; those are BMW’s claims, not independent road-test findings.
BMW says its sixth-generation eDrive uses 800-volt technology and a new high-voltage battery concept. The cited material does not establish market-specific availability, home installation requirements or utility-program participation, so owners should confirm those details locally.

Where is the BMW i3 built, and when will deliveries begin?
The i3 is built at BMW Group Plant Munich. The March reveal projected production from August 2026 and first deliveries from autumn. BMW’s subsequent update says series production has begun, orders opened September 30, 2026, and first deliveries are expected around the turn of 2026/2027. Those are successive updates: the autumn delivery language was the initial projection, while the later page gives BMW’s newer expectation.
