The F-150 Raptor is a full-size off-road pickup with a choice of a high-output V6 or, in the Raptor R, a supercharged V8. The Ranger Raptor is a midsize truck with a 3.0L V6, a smaller bed and a published maximum tow rating of 5,510 lb. Choose between them by checking the exact truck’s price, payload and towing ratings against how you will drive and haul—not by assuming the larger truck’s general F-150 ratings apply to its Raptor trim.

At a glance: full-size F-150 or midsize Ranger

The 2026 F-150 Raptor and Ranger Raptor are built around different size classes and powertrains. Ford lists the F-150 Raptor as a SuperCrew with a 5.5-foot bed. The Ranger Raptor has a bed measuring 59.6 inches long, 62.4 inches wide and 20.8 inches deep, with 48.2 inches between the wheel wells and 43.5 cubic feet of cargo volume. Those dimensions describe the bed, not a direct measure of usable passenger or cargo space across the trucks.

Ford lists a $57,270 starting MSRP for the 2026 Ranger Raptor. A comparable current starting price for the F-150 Raptor is not established here, so these figures do not support a price-gap comparison. Check current local quotes and equipment before comparing purchase costs. Ford’s 2026 Ranger Raptor page and F-150 Raptor page list model details.

Engines and output: distinguish the Raptor from the Raptor R

The standard F-150 Raptor uses a 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V6 rated by Ford at 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. The F-150 Raptor R is a separate, higher-output version with a supercharged 5.2L V8 rated at 720 hp and 640 lb-ft. Those Raptor R figures should not be attributed to the regular F-150 Raptor.

KiNSMART - 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor 5" 1:46 Scale Die Cast Model Toy Truck (Black)
  • Offical Licensed 2022 FORD F-150 Raptor
  • Die Cast Metal Body w/ Plastic Parts
  • 1:46 Scale, 46 Times Smaller The the Real F-150
  • 5" 4 Set - Black, White, Red, Blue
  • Front Doors Open - Pullback Action

The Ranger Raptor uses a 3.0L EcoBoost V6. The specifications cited here do not establish a directly comparable Ranger Raptor horsepower or torque figure, so no output ranking against the F-150 is warranted from these figures alone.

Towing and payload: use the rating for the specific truck

Ranger Raptor

Ford lists 5,510 lb as the Ranger Raptor’s maximum available towing capacity and says the Trailer Tow Package is standard. That is a maximum, not a guarantee for every loaded truck or trailer combination. Ford’s Ranger Raptor FAQ lists maximum available payload of 1,513 lb, while Ford’s general Ranger page lists 1,373 lb for the Raptor. Because Ford’s published pages conflict, use the payload on the certification label of the particular truck you are considering.

F-150 Raptor and Raptor R

F-150 Raptor towing ratings depend on configuration, including engine, cab, drivetrain and axle. Ford’s 2026 F-150 Towing Guide provides configuration-specific ratings; use the Raptor-specific row rather than the general F-150 maximum. Ford says towing capability also varies with cargo, passengers, options and accessories, and it does not recommend fifth-wheel towing for the Raptor.

For either truck, confirm the exact vehicle’s certification label and owner information, then check the applicable Ford towing table for the configuration. A maximum rating should not be treated as the capacity of a truck once passengers, cargo and equipment are aboard.

Off-road equipment and intended use

Both Raptors are equipped for off-road use, but their listed hardware differs. Ford describes the Ranger Raptor with 2.5-inch FOX Racing Shocks with Live Valve, a Watts-link rear suspension, electronic-locking front and rear axles, and seven selectable drive modes, including Baja. Ford lists FOX Live Valve shocks and off-road driving aids for the F-150 Raptor; the Raptor R adds Dual-Valve FOX shocks and 37-inch tires.

These are manufacturer equipment descriptions, not evidence from an independent side-by-side test. They establish what Ford lists, but do not show which truck has a better ride, handles a particular trail better, or is more economical to own.

Which one fits your needs?

Consider the Ranger Raptor if

  • You want a midsize pickup rather than a full-size SuperCrew.
  • The Ranger’s documented bed dimensions and its 5,510-lb maximum available tow rating fit your planned loads, after confirming the specific truck’s ratings.
  • You want the listed FOX Live Valve suspension, locking axles and selectable drive modes in the Ranger package.
  • Its published $57,270 starting MSRP is a useful point of comparison, while recognizing that options, local pricing and transaction costs can change the amount you pay.

Consider the F-150 Raptor if

  • You want a full-size truck with a SuperCrew cab and 5.5-foot bed.
  • You need to evaluate F-150 Raptor-specific towing and payload figures for a particular configuration rather than relying on a general F-150 maximum.
  • You prefer the regular Raptor’s 3.5L High-Output V6, or specifically want the Raptor R’s supercharged V8 and its distinct output and equipment.

Before deciding, compare trucks from the same model year and with the actual packages and equipment you would buy. Get current local quotes, check payload labels, and verify towing capability using the exact configuration and intended load.
