After a Koenigsegg Jesko caught fire in Greece on June 15, 2024, the company asked Jesko owners to stop driving while it investigated. Koenigsegg later said its findings pointed to a compromised rear hydraulic hose—not the fuel tank, engine-oil system or gearbox-oil system—as the likely source. The request and planned repairs were reported in June 2024; the available reporting does not establish whether the advisory remains in force or the announced work has since been completed.

What happened to the Jesko in Greece?

The fire occurred on June 15, 2024, while a Jesko was taking part in the 6to6 Europe Tour in Greece. The driver and passenger escaped without injury, according to Egg Registry’s contemporaneous report. That report identified the car as a Jesko NÜR Edition recently delivered to its Spanish owner.

Why did Koenigsegg ask owners not to drive?

Koenigsegg asked Jesko owners and drivers to hold off driving while it tried to understand the fire. A company statement reproduced by GOCAR and attributed to Christian von Koenigsegg said: “We asked all Jesko owners to stop driving their cars until we understand the incident better, while we gathered all the cars at our service centers.” GOCAR presents the statement in translation.

The request was a precaution during the investigation, not a finding that every Jesko had caught fire or that the entire model had a confirmed defect. It is documented as a June 2024 response; the cited reports do not establish current owner guidance. Owners should consult Koenigsegg or an authorized service center for current instructions rather than treating the historical request as an up-to-date notice.

What did the investigation identify?

In follow-up coverage on June 21, 2024, Egg Registry and GOCAR reported Koenigsegg’s findings: investigators found hydraulic fluid behind the car and a compromised, pressurized hydraulic hose at the rear. The company said the fuel tank, engine-oil system and gearbox-oil system remained intact and were not the source of the fire. Koenigsegg’s reported conclusion was that the hose failure caused the incident.

These findings are the company’s reported investigation, relayed by automotive outlets; the cited material is not an independently published forensic report. See Egg Registry’s follow-up and GOCAR’s report reproducing the statement.

What response did Koenigsegg announce?

Koenigsegg said it was checking hydraulic-hose installations in Jesko vehicles and developing a software update intended to detect a pressure drop or leak in the hydraulic system and shut the system down. Egg Registry reported a target for a first software version, but the June 2024 coverage does not confirm that the update was released or that all inspections were completed.

The company also reportedly promised the affected owner a new car. GOCAR reproduced the translated statement: “We will provide him with a new car so he can continue his journey in the world of Koenigsegg.” That is a reported promise; the cited coverage does not independently verify delivery.

What is known—and what is not

  • Known from the June 2024 reports: the Greece fire, the occupants’ escape without injury, Koenigsegg’s temporary request that owners stop driving, and the company’s reported conclusion about a rear hydraulic hose.
  • Not established by those reports: whether the stop-driving request remains in effect, whether every Jesko hose was inspected, whether the software update was released, or whether the replacement car was delivered.
