Cadillac is a brand of General Motors (GM), and its vehicles are assembled in several locations rather than at one single “Cadillac factory.” GM’s U.S. plant list dated July 28, 2026 names Cadillac production in Michigan, Tennessee and Texas; GM also produces Cadillac vehicles in China through its SAIC General Motors joint venture. The factory depends on the model and market, and assembly location does not identify where every part was made.
Who owns Cadillac?
Cadillac is a General Motors brand, not a separate automaker with its own parent company. GM’s 2025 annual report includes Cadillac among the brands through which the company develops, manufactures and markets vehicles. GM is publicly held, so it is more accurate to say the brand belongs to General Motors than to name a single individual as its owner.

GM’s China operations involve a joint venture, but that is distinct from ownership of the Cadillac brand. GM reported a 50% direct interest in SAIC General Motors Corp., Ltd. as of December 31, 2025. The company says its China joint ventures produce, import and sell vehicles under the Cadillac brand.

Where is the Cadillac CELESTIQ made?
GM says every CELESTIQ is assembled at its Artisan Center on the company’s campus in Warren, Michigan. Unlike the plants in GM’s mass-production list, the Artisan Center is a specialty assembly location. The CELESTIQ is built to order, using U.S. and globally sourced parts, according to GM’s June 2025 delivery announcement.
Are Cadillacs made in China?
Yes. GM’s annual report describes Cadillac production, imports and sales through its China joint ventures. GM also announced in 2022 that the LYRIQ had begun rolling off a production line in China. That announcement establishes China production at the time; it does not show that every LYRIQ sold today, or every current Cadillac model, is built there. GM’s cited materials do not provide a current, complete China plant-by-model list.

For the China joint venture, GM reported a 50% direct interest in SAIC General Motors Corp., Ltd. as of December 31, 2025. That figure describes GM’s stake in the venture, not a percentage ownership share of the Cadillac brand.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the assembly location tell you where all the parts came from?
No. GM says the vehicles in its U.S. assembly list use U.S. and globally sourced parts. A final assembly city identifies where a vehicle is put together, not the origin of every component. A factory assignment also does not by itself establish where a particular vehicle was built: model year and sales market can matter, and assignments can change over time.
Quick Recap
How to check where a specific Cadillac was made
- Identify the vehicle’s model year and the market where it was sold; a model name alone may not establish its factory.
- Compare it with GM’s dated U.S. assembly overview if it is a U.S.-market model. Treat that page’s assignments as time-specific.
- For China production or a model not covered by the U.S. list, consult model- and market-specific GM information. The sources cited here do not establish a complete global plant roster or every model-year assignment.
