Life Electric Vehicles Holdings, Inc. (Life EV) now owns the Rad Power Bikes brand after completing a court-approved purchase of specified assets from the bankrupt Seattle e-bike company. The transaction covers the brand, intellectual property, inventory and certain operating assets—not the former company’s entire liability package. Life EV says it will continue U.S. retail operations under the Rad name, while domestic assembly and store expansion remain plans rather than completed results.
What Life EV bought
Life EV’s March 6, 2026 announcement says the completed transaction transferred the Rad Power Bikes brand, related intellectual property, inventory and certain operating assets. Independent reporting by GeekWire placed the deal inside Rad Power Bikes’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. That makes this an asset acquisition, not a purchase of the old company intact or an assumption of all of its debts and other liabilities.

Who owns Rad Power Bikes now?
Life EV owns the Rad Power Bikes brand following the closing. Life EV President Jim Brown called the deal “an important new chapter” and said the company intends to strengthen operations, develop products and support the rider community. CEO Rob Provost described Rad as a brand that helped define North America’s e-bike category; that is the buyer’s characterization, not an independent finding.

U.S. retail operations
Life EV said it would continue U.S. retail operations under the Rad Power Bikes name and expand in selected key markets. GeekWire reported seven stores on March 5, 2026: Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, Berkeley, Huntington Beach, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Denver and Salt Lake City. That was a contemporaneous reported count, not a current store-locator guarantee.

Products and manufacturing
Life EV announced a future product pipeline and said production would transition to U.S.-based affiliated manufacturing through a Foreign Trade Zone structure. Its description includes sourcing, assembly, quality control, inventory management and distribution. No evidence in the available reporting establishes that the planned U.S. production transition has already occurred.
Employees and Seattle operations
GeekWire said it asked Life EV about remaining Seattle employees and hometown operations but had not received details when it published its report. The available information therefore does not establish which former employees continued with the buyer.
What the acquisition cost
| Figure | Source and scope |
|---|---|
| $13.2 million | GeekWire’s March 2026 report of the sale price. |
| Approximately $14.9 million | Later Rad Life offering materials hosted by the SEC, describing an acquisition that included the brand, intellectual property, inventory, retail footprint and digital infrastructure. |
The published figures are different, and the available sources do not explain whether they reflect different purchase-price definitions, asset scopes or accounting treatment. Neither should be presented as a reconciled definitive total.

For products purchased before December 15, 2025, the same page says Rad Life Mobility has no obligation to provide warranty or other service because of the bankruptcy asset-sale process. Customers with claims related to those purchases are directed to the bankruptcy claims process. Rad Life Mobility says it is reviewing possible discretionary upgrade policies or services, but does not promise that such programs will be offered.
Life EV’s acquisition announcement separately said it intended post-closing customer programs, including honoring certain warranties and gift cards in accordance with the asset purchase agreement. That statement does not establish that every older warranty or gift card was assumed. Owners should check the current warranty policy and use the bankruptcy process for covered pre-December 15, 2025 claims.

What this means for shoppers and riders
The Rad name remains available under new ownership, but the post-bankruptcy company should not be treated as a continuation of every obligation of the former business. For a new buyer, the practical questions are which products are currently offered, where service is available and whether the purchase date and country meet the current warranty policy. For an existing owner, warranty eligibility depends principally on when and where the product was purchased, with older claims directed to the bankruptcy process.
