Ram is made by Stellantis. Where a Ram is built depends on the model: cited 2026 Ram 1500 America250 editions are assembled in Michigan, heavy-duty Ram 2500/3500 trucks and chassis cabs are assembled in Mexico, and the Ram Rampage is built in Brazil.
Ram is made by Stellantis. Ram is a vehicle brand within Stellantis, not an independent truck manufacturer and not the current name for Dodge. For the vehicles covered by current manufacturer information, assembly varies by model: the cited 2026 Ram 1500 America250 editions are assembled in Sterling Heights, Michigan; Ram 2500, 3500 and chassis-cab trucks are assembled in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico; and the Ram Rampage is built in Pernambuco, Brazil.
That model-by-model distinction matters. There is no one country—or one factory—that builds every Ram-branded vehicle sold around the world.
Who owns and makes Ram?
Stellantis owns Ram and manufactures Ram vehicles through its production operations. Ram became a standalone brand in October 2009, when it was separated from Dodge. That is why “Dodge Ram” is accurate shorthand for older trucks, but it is not the correct current brand name for a new truck: today’s vehicle is a Ram 1500, Ram 2500 or Ram 3500, not a Dodge Ram.

Ram and Dodge have shared corporate history, but they are separate Stellantis brands today. Saying that Ram is “a Dodge company” blurs that distinction.
Where are Ram trucks built?
The most useful answer is by vehicle rather than by brand. The table below refers to final vehicle assembly; it does not mean every part in the vehicle came from that country.

Ram 1500: Michigan assembly for the cited 2026 editions
Stellantis says the 2026 Ram 1500 America250 special editions for the U.S. are assembled at Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan. It is reasonable to describe those particular trucks as Michigan-built.
Be careful extending that fact beyond what it proves. Assembly arrangements can change with model year, market and product plan. A statement about a named 2026 special edition is not a blanket statement that every Ram 1500, past or present, sold anywhere in the world has been assembled in Michigan.

Ram 2500 and 3500: Saltillo, Mexico
Ram identifies Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, as the assembly location for the 2026 Ram 2500. The Saltillo truck operation’s heavy-duty line includes the Ram 2500, Ram 3500 and Ram chassis cabs. So, for the current heavy-duty models covered by that information, “assembled in Mexico” is the accurate description.
This is one reason broad claims such as “all Ram trucks are made in America” are misleading. Mexico is part of North America geographically, but “made in America” is commonly understood to mean the United States—and it also leaves out Ram products built in Brazil.
Ram pickups are not all U.S.- or Mexico-built
The Ram Rampage is produced at Stellantis’s Goiana Industrial Complex in Pernambuco, Brazil. It demonstrates why the brand cannot be assigned a single production country.
Ram also identifies Brazil as the country of origin for the Ram 700. Without factory-level confirmation, the careful description is simply that the 700 has Brazilian origin; it should not be assigned to a specific plant on that evidence alone.

“Built in” means final assembly—not every part’s origin
When discussing where a vehicle is made, “built” usually refers to final assembly. It does not establish that the engine, transmission, electronics, steel, interior materials or other components were sourced in the same country.
A useful Ram example is the 2025 Ram 1500: Stellantis says its 3.0-liter Hurricane engines are made at the Saltillo Engine Plant in Mexico, while the cited 2026 America250 Ram 1500 trucks are assembled in Michigan. A Michigan-assembled truck can therefore contain a Mexico-built engine. Both statements can be true at once.
For that reason, avoid treating assembly location as a domestic-content calculation. Those are separate questions that require vehicle-specific sourcing information.
How to check where one specific Ram was built
Model-level information is helpful, but it is not enough for every used truck, import, model-year change or unusual configuration. To check a particular vehicle:

- Find the complete 17-character VIN, usually visible through the windshield on the driver’s side and on registration or insurance documents.
- Enter the full VIN into the NHTSA VIN Decoder. NHTSA notes that its decoder can provide plant-of-manufacture information.
- Review the vehicle’s certification or information label where available. NHTSA notes that additional manufacturing information may appear on the label.
- For a purchase decision, compare the decoded result and label with the seller’s listing. Ask for a photo if the listing makes an assembly claim without showing the label or VIN.
Do not rely on the first VIN character alone as conclusive proof of final assembly. Use the complete official decode and the vehicle label.

Two recent product announcements need careful wording:
- 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee: Stellantis announced in March 2026 that it will be built in Saltillo, Mexico, with availability beginning late in 2026. That is an announced future model, not proof that every current Ram 1500 is already Saltillo-built.
- Ram 1500 REV: Stellantis said in February 2026 that it had canceled the previously planned battery-electric Ram 1500. Articles that present the REV as a current or forthcoming production Ram are outdated.
What this means if you are shopping for a Ram
Start with the exact truck, not the badge. Confirm the model year and trim, then decode the individual VIN if assembly location matters to you. For accessories, fitment is just as vehicle-specific: a “Ram 1500 accessory” may require the correct model year, cab configuration, bed length and equipment package. Check those details before ordering from a Ram or Mopar accessories catalog.
The short version: Ram is Stellantis’s truck brand. The cited 2026 Ram 1500 America250 trucks are assembled in Michigan; current heavy-duty 2500/3500 trucks and chassis cabs are assembled in Saltillo, Mexico; and some market-specific Ram pickups, including the Rampage, are built in Brazil.
