The U.S. F1 experience also includes more than the conventional world-feed broadcast. Depending on your device and account, Apple’s support information identifies features such as driver onboard cameras, live data, a driver tracker, multiple live feeds and Multiview. Those features are particularly useful for viewers who want to follow a specific driver or monitor the race beyond the standard television feed.
Do Apple TV subscribers get F1 TV Premium?
Apple says U.S. Apple TV subscribers can link their Apple Account to obtain access to F1 TV Premium features at no additional cost. The distinction matters: Apple TV is the U.S. rights-holder platform, while F1 TV Premium is an additional interface and feature layer for eligible Apple TV subscribers. Availability and the account-linking process should be checked in the current Apple F1 app or support documentation.
Where to watch in the United Kingdom and Ireland
Sky Sports F1 is the main live broadcaster in the UK and Ireland. Sky’s 2026 British Grand Prix guide scheduled the race for 3:00 p.m. UK time on Sunday, July 5, with coverage beginning at 12:55 p.m. and continuing with post-race reaction.
- Sky Sports F1: The full live television and streaming option for Sky Sports customers.
- NOW Sports Membership: The contract-free streaming route for viewers who do not want a traditional Sky subscription. Sky listed both a Sports Day Membership and a cancel-anytime Month Membership for the event.
- Sky One: Sky’s 2026 event guide said viewers with a Sky box could watch the British Grand Prix free on Sky One.
- Channel 4: The free-to-air option for highlights. Channel 4’s arrangement with Sky covers highlights of qualifying, Sprint sessions and Grand Prix races, while Sky retains exclusive live coverage.
Channel 4’s exact highlights time can change. Check the current Channel 4 schedule when the next British Grand Prix is announced rather than assuming that the 2026 programming window will repeat.

Can you watch the British Grand Prix on F1 TV?
Sometimes—but F1 TV is not a universal replacement for the local broadcaster. F1 TV Pro provides live coverage of every session in supported countries, including exclusive onboard cameras and pre- and post-race shows. F1 TV Premium may add 4K Ultra HD/HDR, support for up to six devices and personalized Multiview on selected devices.
F1 TV’s availability depends on your country because Formula 1 sells local broadcast rights. In a market where a local broadcaster has exclusive live rights, F1 TV Pro may be unavailable or may offer only replays and selected content. Check the service after selecting your country before paying for a subscription.
For the completed 2026 event, the F1 TV library lists the British Grand Prix race replay, extended highlights, race highlights, pre-race and post-race shows, qualifying replay and related features. That makes F1 TV a useful replay and archive option in supported markets even though Apple TV is the primary U.S. live-coverage answer.

The 2026 British Grand Prix was a Sprint weekend and the ninth round of the season. The official F1 pages contain a 2:00 p.m. versus 3:00 p.m. display discrepancy for the race. The detailed F1 timetable and Sky’s contemporaneous UK schedule both identify 3:00 p.m. UK time as the race start, which is the time used here.

Charles Leclerc won the 2026 British Grand Prix. George Russell finished second and Lewis Hamilton finished third. Lando Norris was fourth, followed by Isack Hadjar in fifth. If you want to avoid spoilers, start with the full race replay rather than the highlights package or result page.

Optional hardware for watching on a television
If your television does not support the Apple TV app, an Apple TV 4K is a straightforward way to add the app and watch on a larger screen. It is an optional upgrade, not a requirement. Check the television’s available HDMI input and your home network before buying any streaming box.

F1 TV, where supported, can be streamed through Apple TV, Chromecast Generation 2 or later, Android TV, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Device support can vary by country and subscription tier. If you connect a streaming box to a television, you will also need a compatible HDMI cable, but most homes already have one and it is not a meaningful part of the F1 subscription decision.
How to choose the right viewing option
- Check your country first. Broadcast rights determine whether Apple TV, Sky, NOW, F1 TV or another local service has the live feed.
- Decide whether you need live coverage. The 2026 race is over, so a replay or highlights package is sufficient unless you are choosing a service for future Grands Prix.
- Choose the least restrictive access that fits. U.S. viewers should start with Apple TV; UK and Ireland viewers should compare Sky Sports F1 with NOW; viewers seeking free UK coverage should use Channel 4 highlights.
- Check the device before subscribing. Confirm that the app works on your smart TV, console, streaming box, phone or browser.
- Verify price and schedule at checkout. Subscription prices, trials, device lists and broadcast times are changeable.
Is there a free live stream?
Do not assume that the British Grand Prix has a free legal live stream. In the UK and Ireland, Channel 4 provides highlights rather than the full live race under the arrangement described for 2026. Sky One was listed as a free option for viewers with a Sky box, but that is not the same as an unrestricted free stream for everyone.
In the United States, Apple TV is the official 2026 broadcaster. A trial or promotion may be available at a particular time, but it should be treated as a temporary offer rather than a permanent free-streaming option. In other countries, check the local broadcaster and F1 TV’s country-specific availability.
Bottom line
For U.S. viewers, use Apple TV for live Formula 1 coverage and the completed British Grand Prix replay. For viewers in the UK and Ireland, Sky Sports F1 or NOW provides live access, while Channel 4 offers free highlights. F1 TV is an excellent replay and alternate-feed option where local rights permit it, but its availability is country-dependent. The 2026 Silverstone race ended on July 5, 2026, with Charles Leclerc taking the win.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I watch the F1 British Grand Prix for free?
No universal free live stream was identified for the 2026 event. UK viewers could watch highlights on Channel 4, and Sky’s event guide listed Sky One for viewers with a Sky box. U.S. viewers should check Apple TV for any current trial or promotion, but the official service is subscription-based.
Where can I watch a replay of the British Grand Prix?
Yes, where rights permit. Apple TV provides the U.S. replay library, F1 TV lists the 2026 race replay and highlights in supported markets, and Channel 4 provides UK highlights rather than the full live race.
What time did the 2026 British Grand Prix start?
The 2026 race started at 3:00 p.m. UK time on Sunday, July 5. Formula 1 displayed 2:00 p.m. on one event-page schedule, but its detailed timetable and Sky’s contemporaneous guide both listed 3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. is the viewer-facing time used here.
Does F1 TV show the British Grand Prix everywhere?
F1 TV’s live availability is country-dependent because local broadcast rights differ. It offers live coverage in supported countries and replay content in its on-demand library, but it should not be treated as a universal replacement for Apple TV, Sky or another local rights-holder.
Do I need an Apple TV 4K to watch F1?
No. Apple TV can run on compatible smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, eligible Android devices and the web. Apple TV 4K is simply an optional way to add the app to a television that does not already support it.
The Bottom Line
Best answer: Apple TV in the United States; Sky Sports F1 or NOW in the UK and Ireland; Channel 4 for free UK highlights; and F1 TV in supported international markets. Because the 2026 race finished on July 5, 2026, viewers should look for a replay or highlights package rather than a live broadcast.
