Slate Auto says it will assemble its electric Slate Truck in Warsaw, Indiana. The truck is no longer listed at the headline’s original under-$20,000 expected price: Slate’s June 2026 announced price for the Blank Slate is $24,950 before destination, taxes and other charges. First customer deliveries are expected in Q4 2026, but the vehicle remains in preproduction.
Where will Slate build its truck?
Slate says the Slate Truck will be assembled at its factory in Warsaw, Indiana. TechCrunch reported in April 2026 that the site was a former printing plant. Slate’s announcement describes a planned factory investment of nearly $400 million and more than 2,000 jobs; those are company projections, not verified completed investment or hiring outcomes. Slate Auto’s June 24, 2026 announcement identifies the factory location, while TechCrunch’s timeline supplies the former-printing-plant detail.

Does the Slate Truck really cost $20,000?
No—not at Slate’s currently announced base price. The under-$20,000 figure came from the company’s April 2025 launch framing, which described an expected price after federal incentives. Slate’s June 2026 announced price for the Blank Slate is $24,950. That is a listed vehicle price, not an out-the-door total. Slate’s 2026 announcement and its FAQ give the current price; the original April 2025 launch material explains the older incentive-dependent claim.

Charges beyond the listed price
Slate’s FAQ lists a $1,450 destination charge, which it says covers transportation, processing and delivery from the Warsaw factory. Taxes, title, registration, governmental fees, documentation charges, optional equipment and other applicable costs may add to the purchase price; Slate says final amounts are calculated closer to the delivery order. The $24,950 figure therefore should not be treated as the final amount a buyer will pay.
When are deliveries expected to begin?
Slate says it expects first deliveries in Q4 2026. That is a company target, not confirmation that production has begun or that customers have received vehicles. Slate describes the truck as preproduction and says specifications and pricing may change, so the schedule and details are subject to revision. The June 2026 announcement gives the delivery target.
What performance figures has Slate announced?
Slate’s current materials describe the pickup’s capability as projected specifications. Its 205-mile range is a manufacturer projection, not an official EPA-estimated range. The company also lists estimated payload and towing figures:

What has Slate announced about accessories and service?
Slate describes a growing accessory marketplace, with more than 200 accessories and more than 80% priced below $500 in its June 2026 announcement. Inventory and prices can change, and the announcement does not establish that every item is available everywhere. The company also describes DIY repair resources, a 10-year/110,000-mile battery and powertrain warranty, and access to RepairPal shops, including high-voltage EV service locations. These are company-announced ownership plans and claims; availability of a suitable shop or a particular accessory may vary by location.
