The name covers different regional specifications: the car is sold as A10 in China and as B03X internationally, while published range, equipment and assistance-system counts vary between official pages.
Use the signed local order sheet and warranty booklet as the authority for your car. The figures below help you identify what to ask, but they are not a substitute for the specification attached to your contract.

1. Confirm which car you are actually ordering
Ask the retailer to write the following on the offer before you discuss finance or a delivery date:

- Exact trim, battery capacity, model year and drivetrain specification.
- Every item of standard and optional equipment.
- Estimated build and delivery dates.
- Vehicle identification number or the point at which it will be supplied.
The international launch name is B03X, but Leapmotor uses A10 for the domestic China market. A listing, review or brochure from one market can therefore describe a car that is not the one offered in another. Do not accept a verbal assurance that the specifications are equivalent; have the local version identified in the contract.

2. Get a market-specific, itemized price
Published figures are not interchangeable. Leapmotor UK’s September 2026 information describes its figures as provisional: £28,495 on the road including a £1,500 LEAP-GRANT, with a listed retail price of £26,995. UK orders were scheduled to open in October, with deliveries from December. A separate European September 2026 release says dealer-network orders opened in July and gives a starting list price of €24,900.

Request a written quote that separates the vehicle price from registration, delivery, paint, accessories, finance interest, administration fees and every incentive. Confirm whether a grant is conditional on finance, a registration date or a limited allocation, and ask when the quoted amount expires. A low headline figure can conceal a fee or an incentive that does not apply to your order.
3. Match the battery and range to your routes
The European September 2026 release lists two battery choices. The Pro uses 39.8 kWh and is rated at up to 292 km WLTP; the ProMax uses 53.0 kWh and is rated at up to 382 km WLTP. Leapmotor’s general model page instead lists 301 km and 401 km for Pro and ProMax. The UK press sheet gives the 53 kWh version up to 237 miles WLTP.

These numbers should not be merged into one universal range claim. WLTP values depend on the homologated market specification, wheels and equipment. Ask the dealer which test-cycle figure applies to the exact vehicle on your order sheet and whether it is the smaller or larger battery.
Turn a cycle figure into a usable journey plan
List your longest regular trips, motorway percentage, winter temperatures, passengers and luggage. Leave a charging margin rather than planning to arrive at zero. Leapmotor warns that speed, weather, load, driving style and climate-control use affect actual range. If you cannot charge at home or work, identify reliable rapid chargers along your normal routes before choosing the smaller pack.

For a first-time EV buyer, compare the cost and weight of the larger battery with the number of journeys it prevents you from making to a public charger. For mostly urban commuting, the shorter-range version may be adequate; frequent high-speed or rural travel makes the higher-capacity version easier to live with. That is a use-case decision, not a promise that either WLTP number will occur in every season.
4. Check charging as a complete system
The UK specification lists an 11 kW onboard AC charger, maximum 133 kW DC charging and a claimed 30–80% DC charge in 16 minutes. The European release makes the same 30–80% in 16-minute claim for both battery packs. These are manufacturer claims and do not guarantee the time at every charger.
Questions for the retailer
- Which AC and DC connectors are fitted to the local car?
- Is a portable charging cable included, and what cable rating is supplied?
- Does the quoted car include the equipment needed for your home supply, or is installation separate?
- Does the 11 kW AC capability require a three-phase connection at your property?
- Are there charging limits, battery-temperature conditions or software requirements attached to the 133 kW peak?
Have an electrician confirm your home circuit before ordering equipment. A domestic supply may deliver less than the car’s maximum AC rate, and the car will charge at the lower limit. For public charging, check the connector type, payment method, opening hours and reliability of stations on your regular routes. A peak figure is useful only when the vehicle, charger, battery temperature and state of charge all allow it.
5. Compare LIFE and DESIGN only within the same market
The European release describes LIFE and DESIGN trims. DESIGN adds heated front seats and steering wheel, a powered driver’s seat, front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and a 12-speaker audio system. It is limited to the larger battery. The UK material instead describes a single highly specified trim, so a European trim comparison cannot be applied automatically to a UK order.

Ask the retailer to demonstrate every feature you are paying for. A brochure can describe a family of trims while a local importer supplies one fixed configuration. Check whether a feature is standard, optional, unavailable or tied to the larger battery before comparing two deposits.

6. Establish the real safety and driver-assistance specification
Official material lists seven airbags, but it does not give a consistent count of driver-assistance systems. The general model page says 17 systems; the European release says 21. Treat neither number as a complete equipment list.
Request the function-by-function list
- Adaptive cruise control and its operating-speed range.
- Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping intervention.
- Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
- Automatic emergency braking, including pedestrian or cyclist detection if fitted.
- Traffic-sign recognition and speed-limit alerts.
- Parking sensors, camera views and any automated parking function.
- Driver-monitoring warnings and the method used to mute or adjust alerts.
Take a supervised test drive and try the settings in a safe location. Check where warnings appear, whether steering or braking intervention can be adjusted, and how the systems behave when markings are poor. Ask which functions are standard on your trim rather than assuming that the higher published count applies to every car.
As of October 2026, no independent B03X crash-test score or independent real-world range result is established in the material available for this purchase decision. Manufacturer system counts are not a substitute for an independent crash rating. If a rating is important to you, ask the dealer for the exact tested model and market, not a result for a similarly named vehicle.
7. Read the warranty and service documents before paying
Leapmotor UK press information states a four-year or 60,000-mile vehicle warranty and a separate eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty. Those terms are UK-specific and should not be applied to another country.
Check these clauses in the local booklet
- Whether the vehicle term is limited by time, mileage or whichever comes first.
- What battery-capacity threshold triggers a battery claim.
- Exclusions for impact, water ingress, misuse, non-approved repairs or software.
- Required service intervals and whether servicing must use an authorized network.
- Roadside-assistance duration, territorial limits and renewal conditions.
- Transferability if you sell the car during the warranty period.
- What happens if a replacement part or battery is delayed.
Ask for the names and locations of authorized service centres, their ability to diagnose high-voltage faults and the expected process for a warranty repair. A strong written warranty is less useful if the nearest qualified workshop is impractical for your location.

8. Test passenger space and cargo with your own equipment
UK material reports 510 litres with the rear seats raised: a 405-litre boot plus a 105-litre underfloor box. With the rear seats folded, it reports up to 1,605 litres. The European release also describes the 105-litre washable storage box and up to 1,605 litres with the seats down.
Bring the items you really use to the appointment. Fit your child seats, check buckle access and measure whether a rear-facing seat leaves enough front-seat travel. Open the tailgate in your garage, examine the loading height and test whether the underfloor box accepts charging cables or wet equipment. Sit in every rear position, check headroom and visibility, and fold the seats yourself. Published litres cannot show whether the shape suits a stroller, dog crate, work cases or a weekly shop.

- Before moving: Adjust the driving position, steering wheel, mirrors and seat memory if fitted. Confirm that the displays show the selected range unit and battery state.
- Low-speed manoeuvring: Test steering weight, turning circle, brake-pedal feel and the visibility around the front corners.
- Parking: Use the sensors and camera views in a real space. Check image delay, lens cleanliness and whether warnings are easy to interpret.
- Urban traffic: Observe ride comfort over drains and speed humps, acceleration smoothness and regenerative-braking behaviour.
- Open road: Listen for wind and tyre noise, test lane-centering only with hands on the wheel, and confirm that alerts are understandable rather than distracting.
- Motorway or faster route: Check stability, passing response and whether the projected range falls faster than expected at sustained speed.
- Climate and controls: Operate heating, cooling, demisting and seat or steering-wheel heating where fitted. Note how quickly the settings can be reached without excessive screen navigation.
- Charging demonstration: If possible, connect to an AC or DC unit and confirm that the car recognizes it, displays power and begins charging normally.
- Exit and reload: Try rear-door access, child-seat installation and your luggage before leaving the dealership.
10. Compare the car on six decision axes
When you have the written local specification, score the B03X against your alternatives using the same evidence:

11. Avoid the most common buying mistakes
Using a China specification for an international car
Search results may call the vehicle A10, B03X or use a different battery and equipment combination. Match every claim to the market and model code printed on your offer.

Combining incompatible range figures
Do not average or add the 292 km, 382 km, 301 km, 401 km and 237-mile statements. They come from different pages and market presentations. Use the one attached to your homologated vehicle.

Treating a peak charging rate as a normal session
Maximum DC power and a claimed 30–80% time depend on the charger and conditions. Confirm the cable, connector, battery temperature and your local charging network.
Assuming a trim feature travels across borders
DESIGN equipment in the European release does not prove that a UK car has the same hardware. Require a local equipment list and demonstrate the feature.
Confusing an assistance-system count with safety performance
Published counts differ between official pages, and neither count is an independent crash result. Ask for functions and settings, then seek the correct independent rating if available.
Relying on a headline incentive
The UK LEAP-GRANT is part of provisional UK information. Confirm eligibility, expiry, documentation and whether the amount is already reflected in the price you will pay.
12. Documents to collect before signing
- Final local order sheet showing model, trim, battery, colour and equipment.
- Itemized cash price or finance quotation, including every fee and incentive.
- Written delivery estimate and the remedy if the date slips.
- Local warranty booklet and battery-capacity terms.
- Service schedule, roadside-assistance details and authorized-centre list.
- Charging-cable and connector inventory.
- Current safety and driver-assistance function list.
- Any applicable independent crash-test documentation for the exact market model.
The B03X is aimed at buyers seeking an affordable, more premium B-segment EV for commuting and at drivers moving from an internal-combustion compact. It can fit that brief, but the purchase is sensible only when the local specification, charging access, warranty support and real-world space all work for you. If the retailer cannot put those essentials in writing, postpone the deposit until they can.
