Before placing a Tesla order in India, confirm five things in writing: the exact configuration and price shown in the Design Studio, the current delivery estimate, the non-refundable order-fee terms, the warranty document for that model, and the nearest Tesla Service Centre. Tesla says delivery dates are estimates, designs cannot be edited after an order is placed, and the vehicle warranty supplied with your car is the authoritative document. Service is arranged through the Tesla app, while local repair access depends on where a service centre is operating.
Start with the configuration you can actually live with
Tesla says customers order through its India Design Studio. Your selected model, trim, wheels, colour and other options affect both the displayed price and the estimated delivery date. Treat the design as a final specification exercise rather than a provisional shopping cart.

Why the design must be checked before payment
Tesla’s India FAQ says the design cannot be edited after the order is placed. If anything in the submitted configuration is unclear, contact Tesla before paying or ask a Tesla Advisor to confirm the details. Save the final on-screen specification and the order documents for your records, including equipment included with the vehicle and any payment milestones shown.

Questions to ask a Tesla Advisor
- What exact model, battery version, exterior colour, interior and wheel configuration is recorded?
- Which equipment is included in the India-market vehicle, and which items are optional or supplied separately?
- What amount is due at each stage, and when must the balance be paid?
- Who handles registration, insurance coordination and any local delivery formalities?
- Where will the vehicle be delivered, and does the proposed location serve my city?
How Tesla delivery estimates work in India
Tesla’s India FAQ states: “The estimated delivery date depends on your vehicle design. The estimated delivery date is only an estimate.” The Design Studio displays an estimate based on the configuration you choose; Tesla says the timing becomes more specific as delivery approaches. There is no universal number of weeks that can safely be applied to every order.

Use the estimate for your exact order
Check the estimate in the Design Studio and your Tesla account for the precise configuration you intend to buy. A generic article, an estimate for another trim or an earlier screenshot is not a substitute for the live date attached to your order. Ask what event would cause the date to move, such as a change in vehicle design, allocation, logistics, registration paperwork or payment timing.
What happens as delivery approaches
Tesla says it contacts the buyer nearer delivery to confirm registration, payment method and other details. The exact delivery location is provided closer to the date. Before committing, ask whether your city has a designated handover site, what identification and ownership documents are required, and how much notice you should expect for the final appointment.
Cancellation and the order fee
Tesla’s India FAQ says you can cancel by contacting a Tesla Advisor, but the order fee is non-refundable. The general support page does not establish the fee amount in the material reviewed, so read the current order terms for the exact figure and any applicable conditions before submitting payment.

- How cancellation must be requested and which contact channel Tesla accepts.
- When cancellation becomes effective in Tesla’s system.
- Whether any other payments, taxes or third-party charges are treated separately from the order fee.
- How Tesla communicates a cancellation acknowledgement.
Because the fee is a real cost even if you later cancel, do not place an order while treating the configuration or delivery estimate as a no-obligation reservation.
Warranty coverage: read the document for your vehicle
Tesla publishes a summary of India warranty limits, but also says the page is for general knowledge and that the warranty provided with your vehicle is authoritative. Confirm the model name, delivery date, exclusions and start date in that vehicle-specific document.

Questions the warranty document should answer
- When does coverage begin: delivery, registration or another date?
- Which parts are covered for the exact model and market specification?
- What maintenance, modifications, accident damage, environmental damage or improper repairs are excluded?
- What evidence is required when making a claim?
- Which repairs must be performed at a Tesla Service Centre?
The published figures are limits, not a promise that every component remains covered for the full period. The delivered warranty controls if it differs from a web summary.
Warranty repairs and ordinary service are different
Tesla says warranty-covered work must be handled at a Tesla Service Centre. For non-warranty repairs or maintenance, an owner may use Tesla or a preferred non-Tesla centre. Tesla also says it is not responsible for problems caused by improper third-party work. That distinction matters if you are considering an independent garage for tyres, bodywork, accessories or other maintenance.
When choosing a non-Tesla workshop
- Ask whether technicians have the equipment and training needed for the vehicle’s high-voltage systems.
- Keep itemised invoices, parts information and records of the work.
- Confirm that a proposed modification will not create a warranty dispute.
- Use a Tesla Service Centre for any issue you believe is warranty-related before authorising outside repairs.
How Tesla service works through the app
Tesla’s India service guide directs owners to schedule appointments in the Tesla app. The service team may run remote diagnostics, prepare an estimate and message you for additional information. You can review the estimate, follow appointment updates and communicate with the team inside the app.
Typical service workflow
- Open the Tesla app and select the vehicle’s service option.
- Describe the concern accurately, including warning messages, noises, charging symptoms and when the issue occurs.
- Choose an available appointment and upload photographs or other requested details.
- Review the estimate supplied by Tesla. Tesla says the estimate can change; updated costs are communicated for approval.
- Bring the vehicle and any requested documents at the scheduled time, then monitor messages and status updates in the app.
What to bring
Tesla advises bringing relevant identity, insurance, ownership and warranty information. For a charging-related visit, bring the charging cable. Ask in advance whether a particular repair requires additional keys, adapters or documentation.
Check service-centre access before you order
A showroom or experience centre is not automatically a repair facility. The India location material reviewed listed Tesla Centre Gurugram and Tesla Service Centre Mumbai, while Tesla’s store listing showed experience centres in multiple cities. Coverage can change, so verify the current service-centre locator for your home and regular travel areas.

Questions for buyers outside Gurugram or Mumbai
- Where is the nearest operating Tesla Service Centre, not merely an experience centre?
- What work can that location perform, and which jobs are sent elsewhere?
- How are vehicles collected or transported if the centre is far away?
- Are mobile or remote diagnostic visits available for the issue you expect?
- What lead time is typical for routine work and for a disabled vehicle?
Distance to service affects downtime and ownership logistics even when the vehicle is covered by warranty. Obtain a practical answer for your postcode rather than assuming every Tesla-branded location offers identical support.

Tesla’s India FAQ says home is the most convenient place to charge overnight and recommends installing a Wall Connector at a house or other property. It also lists a support contact for the Mobile Connector. The cited information does not establish an installation price, local stock, compatibility with every property or the electrical work required.
Checks for your property
- Have a qualified installer assess the available electrical capacity, cable route, earthing and protection equipment.
- Confirm permission requirements with your apartment association, landlord or building manager.
- Ask Tesla which charging equipment is supplied with your exact vehicle and which products are available in India now.
- Confirm connector compatibility, mounting location, weather protection and parking access.
- Budget separately for installation, electrical upgrades and any building work; Tesla’s general FAQ gives no standard installation price.
Do not assume that a recommendation for a Wall Connector means one is immediately in stock or that your parking space is ready for installation. Get the equipment and installation plan confirmed before delivery.
Compare order scenarios using the same evidence
If you are choosing between configurations or deciding whether to order now, compare each scenario on identical criteria. The reviewed Tesla pages do not provide a universal delivery calendar or final on-road price for every configuration, so those fields must be checked live.

A practical pre-order checklist
- Review every Design Studio selection and save the final configuration.
- Record the live price and estimated delivery date for that configuration.
- Ask Tesla what can move the estimate and when the delivery location will be confirmed.
- Read the current order terms, including the non-refundable fee and cancellation process.
- Request the warranty terms applicable to the exact model and market vehicle.
- Locate the nearest Tesla Service Centre and distinguish it from nearby retail or experience locations.
- Ask how warranty claims, third-party repairs and estimate approvals are handled.
- Survey your parking space and electrical supply; confirm Wall Connector or Mobile Connector requirements.
- Clarify registration, insurance, payment milestones and the documents needed for handover.
What is not established by Tesla’s general India pages
The support pages do not establish a guaranteed delivery interval, a universal order-fee amount, final on-road pricing, installation costs, charger stock, or service coverage for every Indian city. Those details can change and should be confirmed with Tesla or a qualified local installer for your order and property. The live Design Studio, your Tesla account and the vehicle-specific order and warranty documents take precedence over a general FAQ.
