It is a central online record system where a workshop documents maintenance-relevant service data after completing work on a supported vehicle. DSB then generates a Digital Service Report for verification and delivery to the customer; it does not perform the service or replace the workshop.
How Mercedes-Benz DSB works
After successfully completing service work, the workshop enters the relevant information into DSB. Mercedes-Benz says the data is held in a central database protected from third-party access, and the system generates a Digital Service Report that can be printed and given to the customer. The record is therefore held centrally rather than only in a paper booklet kept with the vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz says central digital records are more difficult to manipulate than entries in a physical service booklet. That is a comparative claim, not a guarantee that records can never be changed. Mercedes-Benz B2B Connect describes DSB as a web application, not software installed on a PC.
Which Mercedes-Benz vehicles are covered?
DSB coverage depends on the vehicle series and its production date. Mercedes-Benz lists these thresholds in its B2B Connect FAQ:

| Vehicle series | DSB threshold stated by Mercedes-Benz |
|---|---|
| E-Class and CLS | From production date September 2007 |
| SL and SLK | From production date March 2008 |
| Other passenger-car series | From June/July 2008, except SLR, G-Class and Maybach |
| Van series, including Sprinter, Vito and Viano | From October 2012 |
| Citan | From start of production |
| smart | From market launch of series 453 |
These are the thresholds published in the FAQ; they are not a guarantee that every vehicle in a listed series or market is eligible. For a specific vehicle, confirm availability through B2B Connect or a Mercedes-Benz partner. If DSB does not support the vehicle, Mercedes-Benz says maintenance must be documented offline; the system may display “Sorry but this vehicle does not support DSB.”
How a workshop accesses DSB
DSB is intended for eligible workshops, including independent businesses capable of repairing and servicing Mercedes-Benz vehicles professionally to manufacturer specifications. Registration, organization review, access rights and system requirements apply.
- Log in to Mercedes-Benz B2B Connect or register for an account.
- Open Product Information → Repair and Maintenance Information → Digital Service Booklet and activate DSB.
- Request access rights using the flow shown in B2B Connect. Approval can take time while the registration details and organization are reviewed.
Mercedes-Benz states that DSB access and use are free. That refers to access to the system, not the cost of service work or any other workshop expenses.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What customers receive, and what to do about errors
Once the workshop records the completed service, DSB generates a Digital Service Report. The workshop can print it and provide it to the customer as evidence of the documented service. A paper booklet entry is not required for a service recorded in DSB, according to Mercedes-Benz.
If an entry was saved incorrectly, Mercedes-Benz directs users to contact support and create a support ticket to request a correction. The available guidance does not describe a customer self-service correction process.
DSB versus a paper service booklet
| Question | DSB | Paper booklet |
|---|---|---|
| Where is the record kept? | In a central database, according to Mercedes-Benz | In the physical booklet held with the vehicle |
| Who records the service? | The workshop enters maintenance-relevant data after completing the work | Entries are made in the booklet; the Mercedes-Benz comparison describes physical booklet entries as more susceptible to manipulation |
| What proof can the customer receive? | A Digital Service Report, which can be printed and provided by the workshop | The paper booklet itself |
| Does it apply to every vehicle? | No; eligibility depends on series and production date | Mercedes-Benz says unsupported vehicles must have maintenance documented offline |
For a covered vehicle, DSB gives the workshop and customer a centrally stored service record and a report to keep. Where the vehicle is not supported, the workshop must use offline documentation instead.
