Allen Millyard’s one-off Viper V10 motorcycle is due to return to the National Motorcycle Museum for a winter loan after Tim Whittaker bought it for £130,000 at the museum’s 22 July 2026 H&H Classics auction. A video headline says seven volunteers were needed to move the machine, but the published reports available here do not independently verify that number, the move itself or the equipment used.
What is confirmed about the winter display
Whittaker, the new owner, has agreed to lend the motorcycle to the National Motorcycle Museum during the winter. That arrangement means visitors should have another chance to see Millyard’s most famous build in a public collection rather than having it disappear into a private garage.

The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs reported the sale price and the winter loan on 24 July 2026. National Motorcycle Museum director James Hewing said the museum was “thrilled that she has kindly agreed for Allen Millyard’s V10 Viper to return to the National Motorcycle Museum for display during the winter months,” describing it as one of the world’s most remarkable motorcycles.

The supplied headline describes seven volunteers moving the motorcycle to its winter home. The Visordown and Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs reports used for this account confirm the loan and destination, but do not state that seven people carried out the move. They also do not identify a trailer, lifting device or other transport equipment.
#1 Best Overall
- Opening hood, doors, and trunk
- Exterior styling directly from the movie
- Detailed interior and real rubber tires
- Made of quality die-cast metal
- Collect them all
Unless the originating video or a direct statement from the museum, Millyard or Whittaker provides those details, the volunteer count should be treated as a claim from that video or post rather than an independently established fact. The confirmed news is the ownership transfer and the agreed winter display.
Why this motorcycle attracts museum attention
Millyard built the bike around an 8.0-litre Dodge Viper V10. Visordown and the Federation describe output at about 500 bhp, an extraordinary figure for a motorcycle. BikeBound’s engineering profile says the engine serves as the central stressed member, with front and rear subframes attached around it. That profile also reports that the finished machine was completed in 2009 and made road-legal through the UK Single Vehicle Approval process.

- Hot Wheels 2013 SRT Viper (JBB15) - Then and Now Series 6/10, Short Card Edition
- 1:64 Scale Dodge Viper
- White lacquer with striking blue stripes
- Officially Licensed Dodge Product
- Authentic proportions, sporty wheels and powerful design
The figures describe a hand-built engineering project rather than a production model. The V10’s size and structural role explain why moving or displaying the bike is a more substantial task than handling an ordinary road motorcycle, even though the available reports do not document the actual winter transfer.
Sale, ownership and riding history
| Date or detail | What the published reports establish |
|---|---|
| 2009 | Visordown and BikeBound report the build as completed. |
| 22 July 2026 | Tim Whittaker bought the motorcycle at the H&H Classics auction held at the National Motorcycle Museum. |
| Sale price | The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs reported £130,000. |
| Riding history | Millyard said he had ridden nearly 10,000 miles, including trips to Germany, the Isle of Wight and shows around the UK. |
| Winter 2026 | Whittaker agreed to lend the bike to the National Motorcycle Museum for display. |
Millyard said the sale was a natural point to move on. He told the Federation that he could still ride the machine but felt his muscle strength was lower than it had been, and that he had done everything he wanted with it. Whittaker said he did not want an iconic motorcycle to disappear into a private collection and looked forward to learning from Millyard how to ride it properly.

When can visitors see it?
As of Visordown’s 7 September 2026 report, the museum had not confirmed an exact public display date. The bike was expected to appear soon, with the museum’s Museum Live event on 24–25 October identified as a likely opportunity, not a guaranteed launch date.
Visitors should check the National Motorcycle Museum’s own event and exhibition information before travelling. The winter loan is confirmed; the opening day, gallery position and length of the display were not specified in the reports cited here.

What remains unknown about the move
- Whether exactly seven volunteers took part.
- How many people physically handled the motorcycle.
- Which trailer, ramp, lifting equipment or restraints, if any, were used.
- The date on which the motorcycle reached its winter display position.
- The confirmed public viewing date and display duration.
Those gaps do not change the central development: after 17 years and almost 10,000 miles with its builder, the Viper V10 has a new custodian and is intended to remain accessible to the public through a winter loan.
