The refreshed Volkswagen Caddy range is now on sale in the UK, with a new 12.9-inch infotainment screen, revised styling and updated driver-assistance technology. The range spans Cargo vans and passenger Caddy People models, with different engines and prices. “More car-like drive” is the launch headline’s framing; the available information documents cabin and equipment changes, not an independent assessment of ride or handling.
What is new on the refreshed Caddy?
Cabin and technology
The clearest change is a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. Volkswagen says it has illuminated temperature sliders. Its UK passenger Caddy page also lists Digital Cockpit Pro, App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless mobile-phone fast charging as standard equipment. Auto Express’s 1 October 2026 launch report additionally describes fully digital dials, a 25-watt wireless charger, extra USB-C ports, grab handles and coat hooks; check the specification for the particular trim before assuming every item is included.
Exterior and assistance systems
The update brings revised front and rear bumpers; Volkswagen describes a new bumper and grille. New colours and 16-to-18-inch alloy wheel choices are reported across the range, but availability depends on trim. Volkswagen also describes revised driver-assistance equipment, including Travel Assist with traffic-light recognition and assisted lane change. These systems should not be treated as standard across every version without checking the exact specification. Volkswagen’s Caddy update information outlines the styling and range changes.
The documented changes are primarily to equipment, styling and technology. They do not establish that the Caddy’s ride or handling has been independently tested or improved.

Which Caddy versions and engines are available?
The Caddy is a range rather than one van configuration. The Cargo is the panel van; the Caddy People is the passenger-carrying version. Auto Express also notes a California compact camper variant. Short-wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (Maxi) forms are reported, with the available combination of body, engine and equipment varying by model.

What the Cargo eHybrid range figure means
Volkswagen gives the Caddy Cargo 1.5 TSI eHybrid 150PS with six-speed DSG a maximum equivalent electric range of 70.8–73.3 miles under WLTP, depending on trim. That is an official test-cycle figure, not a promise of the distance a particular driver will achieve in everyday use. For a plug-in hybrid, consider whether your regular trips and access to charging make electric running practical. Volkswagen’s Cargo information contains the range figure and pricing caveat.
How much does the updated Volkswagen Caddy cost?
The reported launch prices below are not all on the same basis. Auto Express’s prices exclude VAT, while Volkswagen’s passenger Caddy page displays an on-the-road price including VAT. Compare like with like and confirm the current price for the precise body style, wheelbase, engine and trim.

The Cargo figures and passenger-page price describe different model and price presentations; they should not be compared as if they were equivalent quotes. Volkswagen says prices can vary, and live page prices or offers may change. The passenger model page says the Caddy is available to order, while Auto Express reported the updated range on sale on 1 October 2026. Ask a Volkswagen Van Centre for a current quote and confirm equipment and availability for the exact configuration.

Not on the evidence available here. The phrase appears in the launch headline, while the documented changes concern the screen, cabin equipment, styling and driver assistance. Without an independent road test, it is not possible to substantiate a claim about improved ride comfort, steering or handling. Buyers considering the Caddy for passenger use or daily driving should arrange a test drive in the version they intend to buy.
