BMW is also planning an optional Black Package exclusive to the M50. The power increase applies to every X3 M50 xDrive, with or without the package.
What changes on the BMW X3 M50 xDrive?
In an announcement dated 1 October 2026, BMW said the updates are planned from December 2026. The revised powertrain is a 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology; BMW M identifies it as the B58. BMW says it gains 33 kW (45 hp), for total output of 326 kW (443 hp). The upgrade is standard across the X3 M50 xDrive range, not a benefit tied to buying the Black Package. BMW Group’s announcement also says the revised engine meets Euro 7.
What does the Black Package include?
The optional package changes the X3 M50’s appearance and cabin finish. BMW lists the following equipment:
- 22-inch Polygon 1134 M Black light-alloy wheels
- High-gloss black brake calipers, black M logos and black model badges
- Expanded Alcantara surfaces in the interior
- Black Alcantara/Veganza seat covers with blue stitching and piping
- M aluminium-carbon-structure interior trim
- BMW Individual CraftedClarity glass applications for selected controls
BMW describes the package as exclusive to the X3 M50 xDrive. It is planned from December 2026; the announcement does not specify a country-specific ordering date or price.

No. BMW says the power increase applies to all X3 M50 xDrive models independently of package selection. The Black Package is an equipment and appearance option, not a separate performance upgrade.
How quick is the updated X3 M50?
BMW publishes a 0–100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds. It also gives 4.1 seconds using a one-foot rollout: timing starts after the vehicle crosses a light barrier, excluding the first foot (30.48 cm) of travel. These are manufacturer figures, not results from independent testing.
