For the 2026 U.S. model year, Acura’s SUV lineup has three current entries: the compact ADX, two-row RDX, and three-row MDX. The ADX starts at $35,000, the RDX at $45,100, and the MDX at $51,800 before additional purchase costs.

The 2026 Acura SUV lineup at a glance

For the 2026 U.S. model year, Acura’s official SUV comparison lists three models: the compact ADX, the two-row RDX, and the three-row MDX. Starting MSRP ranges from $35,000 for the ADX to $51,800 for the MDX, before destination, taxes, title, registration, dealer fees, and other charges.

Model Acura category Seats Starting MSRP Engine and output Maximum cargo Maximum towing

RDX Premium Sport Crossover 5 $45,100 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, 272 hp 79.8 cu. ft. 1,500 lb
MDX Premium Performance SUV 7 $51,800 3.5-liter V-6, 290 hp 95.0 cu. ft. Up to 5,000 lb with SH-AWD

The short version is straightforward: choose the ADX for the lowest price and smallest footprint, the RDX for a more powerful two-row crossover, and the MDX if you need a third row, the most cargo room, or substantially greater towing capacity.

2026 Acura ADX: the compact entry point

The ADX is Acura’s smallest and least expensive SUV for 2026. It is a two-row, five-seat premium compact SUV intended for buyers who want an upscale crossover without moving into the larger and more expensive RDX or MDX.

  • Available AWD price: $37,000 to start
  • Engine: 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder
  • Output: 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque
  • Maximum cargo volume: 55.1 cubic feet
  • Seating: Five

Higher ADX versions include A-Spec and A-Spec with Advance trims, which cost more than the base model. The important distinction is positioning: the ADX is the accessible, compact choice in Acura’s range, not the lineup’s performance or family-capacity leader.

It makes the most sense for shoppers who prioritize an easier-to-manage exterior size, a lower entry price, five-seat utility, and the option of all-wheel drive. Buyers who routinely carry bulky gear, tow a trailer, or need a third row should look beyond the ADX.

2026 Acura RDX: the sporty two-row middle choice

The RDX sits between the ADX and MDX in size and price, but it is not simply a larger ADX. Acura positions it as a sport crossover, and its powertrain gives it a substantial output advantage over the entry model.

  • Starting price: $45,100
  • Engine: 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder
  • Output: 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque
  • Transmission: 10-speed automatic
  • Drivetrain: Acura lists Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, or SH-AWD, in the relevant configurations
  • Maximum cargo volume: 79.8 cubic feet, including underfloor storage
  • Maximum towing: 1,500 pounds
  • Seating: Five

The RDX is the natural choice for someone who wants considerably more power and cargo room than the ADX but does not need the MDX’s third row. Acura also emphasizes drive modes, SH-AWD, and available adaptive dampers, so the RDX is the lineup’s clearest fit for a buyer who values a sportier two-row driving brief.

There is still a meaningful price gap between the ADX and RDX. The RDX’s appeal comes from what that additional spending buys: 82 more horsepower than the ADX, a larger cargo area, a higher towing rating, and a more performance-oriented configuration. It is not the right answer merely because it is the middle model; it is the better fit when those capabilities matter.

2026 Acura MDX: the three-row family SUV

The MDX is Acura’s largest SUV and the only model in the 2026 lineup with three rows. It seats up to seven and leads the range in passenger capacity, maximum cargo volume, and towing capability.

  • Starting price: $51,800
  • Standard engine: 3.5-liter V-6
  • Standard output: 290 horsepower
  • Maximum cargo volume: 95.0 cubic feet
  • Seating: Seven
  • Maximum towing: Up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with SH-AWD

The regular MDX is the lineup’s practical family answer. Its third row provides passenger flexibility, while its larger cargo area gives it a clear advantage for luggage, sports equipment, home-improvement supplies, and other bulky loads. The 5,000-pound maximum towing figure applies when the MDX is equipped with SH-AWD; buyers should confirm the rating for the exact vehicle and equipment configuration.

MDX Type S: the performance version

The MDX Type S is more than an appearance package. Acura specifies a different engine: a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 producing 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Type S equipment also includes performance-focused hardware such as performance brakes and, on the Type S Advance, adaptive air suspension.

That extra performance comes with a higher price and a different buyer rationale. The MDX Type S is worth considering when stronger acceleration and Type S chassis hardware are priorities. It should not be presented as the value choice or as the default MDX for every family buyer. The standard MDX already provides the third row, cargo capacity, and towing capability that define the model’s practical role.

How the Acura SUVs compare on size, space, and capability

The three models divide their roles clearly:

  • Passenger space: The ADX and RDX seat five; the MDX seats seven.
  • Cargo space: The ADX provides up to 55.1 cubic feet, the RDX up to 79.8 cubic feet, and the MDX up to 95.0 cubic feet.
  • Towing: Acura lists 1,500 pounds for the RDX and up to 5,000 pounds for an SH-AWD MDX. Acura’s comparison does not list a towing capacity for the ADX.
  • Power: The ADX has 190 horsepower, the RDX has 272 horsepower, the standard MDX has 290 horsepower, and the MDX Type S has 355 horsepower.
  • Drive layout: The ADX starts with front-wheel drive and offers AWD. Acura lists SH-AWD for the RDX configurations covered in its specifications and identifies SH-AWD as the equipment associated with the MDX’s 5,000-pound maximum towing rating.

Maximum cargo volume is not the same as the space available behind every seat, so shoppers with a stroller, third-row passengers, or a particular cargo load should inspect the exact vehicle. Published maximums are useful for ranking the lineup, but they do not replace checking the real cargo floor, seat-folding arrangement, and opening dimensions.

Which 2026 Acura SUV should you buy?

Choose the ADX if you want:

  • The lowest Acura SUV starting price
  • A compact vehicle that is easier to maneuver and park
  • Five seats rather than a third row
  • Available AWD without moving up to the RDX’s price
  • Enough cargo capacity for ordinary errands and smaller loads

Choose the RDX if you want:

  • A two-row SUV with much more power than the ADX
  • A sportier crossover configuration
  • More cargo space without paying for a three-row SUV
  • SH-AWD and available performance-oriented equipment
  • Up to 1,500 pounds of towing capacity

Choose the MDX if you want:

  • A usable third row and seating for up to seven
  • The most cargo volume in the Acura SUV lineup
  • Up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity with SH-AWD
  • A larger family vehicle rather than a compact or two-row crossover
  • The option of a high-output Type S powertrain

Choose the MDX Type S if you specifically want:

  • The 355-horsepower turbocharged V-6
  • Type S performance brakes
  • Available adaptive air suspension on the Type S Advance
  • A performance-focused version of Acura’s three-row SUV

What about the Acura ZDX?

The current Acura SUV comparison used for the 2026 model-year lineup lists the ADX, RDX, and MDX. It does not list the ZDX among those three current SUV entries, and Acura’s ZDX page directs shoppers toward the MDX rather than presenting the ZDX as a current lineup choice.

The careful conclusion is that Acura’s current official comparison shows a three-SUV lineup for 2026. That is different from making a stronger claim that the ZDX has definitively been discontinued; such a statement would require an explicit Acura announcement.

Useful cargo accessories for Acura SUV owners

Cargo protection becomes more important as you move up the lineup, particularly if the SUV will carry pets, muddy sports equipment, groceries, or wet outdoor gear. Acura’s accessories materials identify items such as folding cargo trays, cargo covers, all-season floor mats, rear-seat covers, roof rails, and roof boxes.

If you regularly carry muddy gear, pets, or groceries, compare an Acura SUV cargo liner or cargo tray after choosing the model; the ADX, RDX, and MDX have different cargo dimensions. Verify the exact model year, trim, cargo-floor configuration, and whether the rear seats or underfloor storage affect fit before ordering. A liner designed for one Acura SUV should not be assumed to fit another.

Shoppers who prefer original-equipment accessories can ask an Acura dealer about Acura Genuine Accessories, including model-specific cargo trays, cargo covers, roof rails, and all-season floor mats. Availability and fitment can vary, so confirm the part number for the exact vehicle rather than relying only on a generic product description.

2026 Acura SUV pricing: what the starting MSRP does—and does not—tell you

Acura’s listed starting prices are useful for understanding the lineup’s order:

  • ADX: starts at $35,000 with front-wheel drive; AWD starts at $37,000.
  • RDX: starts at $45,100.
  • MDX: starts at $51,800.

These are starting MSRPs, not out-the-door prices. Destination charges, taxes, registration, title costs, dealer fees, accessories, and optional equipment can raise the final amount. Trim pricing, inventory, incentives, financing, lease offers, and accessory availability can also change, so confirm the figures with Acura or a dealer before making a purchase decision.

The bottom line

Acura’s 2026 U.S. SUV lineup is easy to understand because each model has a distinct job. The ADX is the compact, lower-cost entry point. The RDX is the more powerful and sportier two-row alternative. The MDX is the family-oriented three-row SUV, with the greatest cargo capacity and the lineup’s strongest towing rating. The MDX Type S adds genuine performance hardware and a 355-horsepower turbocharged V-6 for buyers who want more than the standard model’s practical strengths.
