Tesla is recalling certain 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks because an adhesive joint on the stainless-steel cantrail panel may fail, allowing the panel to separate from the vehicle. The recall remedy is a free cantrail assembly replacement by Tesla. The campaign is Tesla’s—not a recall issued personally by Elon Musk—and it does not apply to every Cybertruck.
Is my Cybertruck affected by this recall?
Tesla identifies certain model year 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023, through February 27, 2025. Those dates define the potential population, not proof that a particular vehicle is included. Check your VIN using Tesla’s Cybertruck Cantrail Replacement recall page or the NHTSA recall lookup. What is the glue defect, and what could happen?
The affected part is the cantrail assembly: an exterior panel along the windshield and roof area. Tesla says its stainless-steel panel may delaminate at the adhesive joint and separate from the vehicle. A panel that comes loose could create a road hazard for motorists behind the truck and increase the risk of injury or a collision.
Tesla says cabin noise or visible loosening may be warning signs. If you notice either, use Tesla’s recall process for guidance rather than trying to secure or repair the panel yourself.

What is the recall remedy?
Tesla says it will replace the cantrail assembly at no charge and estimates the service will take about one hour. The actual appointment timing may depend on parts availability in your region; Tesla says it will contact affected owners when parts are available. Tesla’s recall page says affected owners may continue to drive, but that instruction is Tesla’s guidance for this campaign. Check your VIN and contact Tesla if you have concerns about your vehicle.
Is this the same as the 2024 Cybertruck sail applique recall?
No. Both campaigns concern exterior parts attached with adhesive, but they involve different components, production ranges, and remedies. The sail applique is exterior trim along the trunk-bed area; it is not the cantrail panel.

The sail applique campaign’s 12,150-vehicle count and 1% estimate should not be attributed to the cantrail recall.

No. The recall remedy is Tesla’s replacement service, not a consumer adhesive repair. Tesla Service warns: “Do not use a non-approved structural adhesive for a structural repair on a Tesla vehicle.” That guidance is a reason not to improvise with generic glue or tape; follow Tesla’s recall instructions instead.
