As of October 11, 2026, the Tata Safari EV has not been confirmed as launched in the available sources. Autocar India reported on April 3, 2026, that Tata planned to launch it during India’s 2026 festive season, with production expected to begin by August. That is a reported plan—not a confirmed launch date or a final specification sheet.
When is the Tata Safari EV expected to launch?
Autocar India reported that Tata planned a festive-season 2026 launch in India and expected production to start by August 2026. Festive season is a broad timing window, not a specific booking, reveal or delivery date. No Tata announcement confirming the final timing is established in the available sources. Autocar India’s April 3, 2026 report is the basis for the schedule.

What battery, drivetrain and range are expected?
The report expects the Safari EV to use Tata’s acti.ev+ architecture and powertrain configurations related to the Harrier EV. It names 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options, with rear-wheel drive expected as standard and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version considered possible. Tata has not confirmed these as Safari EV specifications. Tata’s Harrier EV announcement is related-model context, not confirmation of the Safari EV’s hardware.

Autocar India cites the Harrier EV’s claimed ranges as 538 km for the 65 kWh rear-wheel-drive version, 627 km for the 75 kWh rear-wheel-drive version and 622 km for the 75 kWh all-wheel-drive version. These are Harrier EV figures, not Safari EV ratings. The report expects the larger, heavier Safari EV to have somewhat lower claimed range, but gives no confirmed Safari-specific number. Do not treat 538–627 km as the Safari EV’s range.

Which features are expected—and which remain unconfirmed?
Autocar India expects the Safari EV to share some technology and equipment themes with the Harrier EV. The following are reported expectations, not a confirmed Safari EV feature list:
- Charging: DC fast charging of up to 100 kW is described as likely. No confirmed Safari EV charging rate is established.
- Terrain and ride: The report expects Normal, Snow/Grass, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl and Custom terrain modes, along with multi-link rear suspension and frequency-dependent dampers.
- Cabin and software: A layout similar to the combustion Safari and Tata Intelligent Digital Architecture Layer (TiDAL) features are expected. Harrier EV TiDAL capabilities cited in the report include over-the-air updates, 540-degree surround view, Level 2 ADAS, auto-park assist, Off-road Assist, UPI-based DrivePay and summon mode. Their inclusion in the Safari EV is not established.
- Exterior: A closed-off grille section, revised bumpers, EV badging and aero-optimised wheels are expected styling changes, not confirmed design details.
The combustion Safari is a useful reference for the model’s existing identity, but its equipment should not be assumed to carry over. Tata’s 2021 Safari announcement described six- and seven-seat layouts and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel rated at 170 PS. Those are details of the combustion model, not the EV.
What might the Tata Safari EV cost?
Autocar India gave ₹22.5 lakh–₹30 lakh as a possible ballpark. This is an estimate, not an official Tata price; the available sources do not establish the final price, variant-wise pricing or whether the estimate refers to ex-showroom pricing.

Until Tata publishes a confirmed specification and price list, treat the timing and equipment above as forecasts. When evaluating the SUV, look for confirmation of the actual launch and delivery schedule, seating layout, battery and drivetrain variants, certified range and its test basis, DC charging rate, third-row usability, driver-assistance and parking equipment, and variant-wise pricing. For charging logistics, Tata says its EV ecosystem includes Tata Power as a partner for public charging expansion and home-charger installation; this does not confirm any particular Safari EV charging equipment or capability.
