What did Shelby’s teaser say?

Some pre-reveal coverage speculated that the car might be a GT500. That was speculation, not Shelby’s announcement: the reveal report identifies the car as the Super Snake-R.

What is the 2026 Shelby Super Snake-R?
Shelby’s configurator describes the Super Snake-R as built on a Ford Mustang Dark Horse chassis and lists track-oriented hardware, including adjustable coil-over suspension, two-piece slotted brake rotors, front and rear sway bars, performance half shafts and forged magnesium wheels. Shelby calls it an R variant; its vice president of operations and senior designer, Vince LaViolette, described its handling as the best the company had offered in the car’s history. Power and configuration
The configurator lists an 850+ horsepower supercharger system and qualifies its horsepower ratings as based on 93-octane fuel. The supercharger is optional and designated for post-title sales; in green states, Shelby says its purchase and installation are sold separately. The listed figure describes that supercharger configuration, not every Super Snake-R.

Displayed pricing and warranty
Shelby’s configurator currently displays a $158,920 Super Snake-R package price and a separately listed $64,080 base-chassis MSRP. Shelby cautions that chassis pricing and configurations may vary, and that international pricing differs. Treat the displayed package figure as a configurator value, not an all-in transaction quote. The page lists a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty; check the live configurator or a Shelby dealer for current terms and availability.
