Alfa Romeo has not confirmed a manual gearbox for any future Bottega Fuoriserie special. The request for a manual 33 Stradale was declined because the car was not developed for one. A later project is only a possibility inferred from executives’ comments—not a promised option. And while Bottega Fuoriserie general manager Cristiano Fiorio said a pink Alfa was not feasible because the color had never existed, Carscoops points to a salmon-pink 1955 Giulietta Berlina as a historical exception.
Will Alfa Romeo build a manual 33 Stradale?
No. The 33 Stradale was not developed with a manual transmission, and Alfa Romeo declined requests to add one. Fiorio told Quattroruote that developing the gearbox would cost more than twice what buyers paid for the car. That is his reported estimate for this conversion, not an independently verified engineering or market study.

The distinction matters: this was not a case of customers choosing between two transmissions Alfa had already engineered. The manual would have required development for a car that was not designed around it.
Could a future Bottega Fuoriserie Alfa have a manual?
Possibly, but Alfa Romeo has not announced one. In September 2026, Fiorio said the first project had become a brief and inspiration for the next, and that the program would try to respond to requests. Carscoops interpreted those remarks as leaving room for a future manual. They do not amount to confirmation of a model, gearbox, or production plan.

MotorTrend’s August 2025 reporting provides earlier context: the next halo car then under discussion was not expected to be manual, though later projects were left open. That report predates the September 2026 comments and should not be read as a current specification.
Why does Alfa Romeo say pink is not feasible?
Fiorio’s reported point was that pink had never existed in Alfa Romeo’s history, making it unsuitable for the current bespoke program. But the historical claim is not uncontested: Carscoops notes that salmon pink was a popular option on the 1955 Giulietta Berlina. The account does not cite a primary archive record for that color history, so it is best treated as a reported exception rather than definitive documentation.

The remark is better understood as a statement about the brand heritage the current program wants to express—not proof that no Alfa Romeo has ever worn a pink-toned finish.

Bottega Fuoriserie is developing limited-run Alfa Romeo and Maserati projects with client input. Quattroruote describes future Alfa specials as heritage-inspired and tailor-made. Fiorio said customization starts from a baseline: requests may involve aesthetic choices such as color and finish, but they remain subject to technical feasibility and fidelity to Alfa Romeo’s values and history.

That makes personalization different from an unlimited build-to-order menu. A request can be attractive to a buyer and still be rejected if the underlying car cannot support it or if it conflicts with the program’s stated boundaries.
