Certain Ram 1500 pickups are covered by FCA US LLC / Stellantis Safety Recall 75B, filed with NHTSA as 24V-653. A software malfunction in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module may disable electronic stability control (ESC), which could increase crash risk if the system is needed. The recall repair is a dealer-installed ABS software update, with no parts required. Owners should check their truck’s VIN for an open recall and arrange service if one appears.
What is the Ram 1500 recall for?
The campaign is called “ABS Module Configuration Mismatch.” According to FCA US LLC / Stellantis Safety Recall 75B, the ABS control module may experience a software malfunction that can disable the truck’s ESC system. If ESC does not intervene when expected or relied upon, a crash may occur without prior warning.

The defect described is a potential loss of ESC function. The manufacturer’s bulletin does not say that the software issue necessarily causes a loss of all braking. It states that the condition fails to conform to FMVSS No. 571.126 S5.1.2, the federal electronic stability control standard. As reproduced in the bulletin, that provision requires ESC to be “operational during all phases of driving including acceleration, coasting, and deceleration (including braking) [ … ].”
Which Ram 1500 trucks are included?
The manufacturer’s December 2024 repair bulletin lists certain 2019 and 2021–2024 model-year Ram 1500 pickups with the DT designation. That range does not mean every truck from those years is affected, or that every affected truck still needs repair. The bulletin notes that vehicles initially identified may be excluded after review, so recall status must be checked by VIN.

Why do published recall counts differ?
The numbers refer to different campaign snapshots and should not be treated as the number of trucks still awaiting repair.

What is the recall repair?
A Ram dealer updates the ABS module with the latest software. The December 2024 repair bulletin says no parts are required and specifies the dealer wiTECH scan tool for the service procedure. This is a software update performed by a dealer, not a consumer replacement-part repair.

How to check your truck and arrange service
- Find your vehicle identification number (VIN), typically visible at the base of the windshield or on the driver-side door-jamb label.
- Enter the VIN in NHTSA’s recall lookup to see whether the truck has an unrepaired recall.
- If the lookup shows this recall as open, contact a local Ram dealer to arrange the software update. NHTSA says recalled items are repaired free at a dealership.
NHTSA notes that recently announced recalls may not appear until all affected VINs have been identified, and VINs are added continuously. If you believe your truck may be affected but the lookup does not show the recall, check again later and contact a Ram dealer. Follow any interim safety instructions that apply to your vehicle.
