Its active balance system is designed to keep the vehicle upright during low-speed starts, stops, traffic lights, and congestion. The company combines that feature with a 10.25-inch connected cockpit, smartphone mirroring, remote controls, OTA updates, and a Balance version with additional pilot functions. The technology is promising, but independent testing and U.S. market verification are still outstanding.
OMOWAY’s OMO X is best understood as a self-balancing electric motorcycle, not a conventional kick scooter. Its headline feature is active balance assistance at low speeds, allowing the rider to remain upright during starts, stops, traffic lights, and stop-and-go traffic without putting a foot down. OMOWAY says this makes the OMO X the world’s first mass-produced self-balancing motorcycle, but that superlative is the manufacturer’s claim and has not been independently established in the materials reviewed.

The OMO X is also a connected two-wheeler with a 10.25-inch cockpit, smartphone screen mirroring, digital-key functions, remote controls, OTA updates, and two versions with different intelligent-driving features. It is an ambitious attempt to take self-balancing technology from demonstration vehicles into a consumer motorcycle format. The important qualification is that the available evidence is still largely manufacturer-reported: no independent road test, range test, braking evaluation, crash assessment, or long-term reliability study was verified for this article.

OMOWAY describes the system as a combination of aerospace-grade gyroscope stabilization, control software, and its OMO-Robot architecture. The company says that architecture links perception, decision-making, and vehicle execution to keep the motorcycle stable and reduce rider fatigue.

In practical terms, the feature is aimed primarily at low-speed situations. A rider may be able to stop at a red light, launch from a standstill, or move through congested traffic without repeatedly extending a foot to catch the motorcycle. That could make a heavy or unfamiliar electric motorcycle less tiring in urban riding.
It does not establish that the OMO X is an autonomous motorcycle. Active balance is not the same as hands-free riding, collision avoidance, route planning, or a system that can safely handle every road condition. A rider remains responsible for steering, speed, braking, traffic awareness, protective equipment, and the ordinary risks of motorcycling. OMOWAY’s own description positions self-balancing as a rider-assistance feature rather than fully autonomous operation.
OMO X Smart vs. Balance
OMOWAY has announced two principal configurations: Smart and Balance. The company’s published material indicates that the Balance version is the higher-feature configuration for selected pilot intelligent-driving functions, while the Smart version provides the core motorcycle and rider-assistance equipment.

| Feature or specification | Smart | Balance |
|---|---|---|
| Claimed top speed | 113 km/h | Not separately specified in the cited announcement |
| Claimed 0–50 km/h acceleration | 3.3 seconds | Not separately specified in the cited announcement |

| Additional intelligent-driving functions | Not listed as standard in the cited material | Free parking, smart summon, guard mode, integrated dashcam, and rear-view vision are listed as pilot functions |
| OTA-enabled intelligent features | Not universally established | Advertised as available on the Balance version |
These labels should not be treated as a complete global equipment list. Feature availability may change by market, software version, production batch, or local approval. In particular, OMOWAY describes several Balance functions as pilot intelligent-driving features, not as universally available autonomous capabilities.
Performance and range claims
OMOWAY’s April 25, 2026 Indonesian pre-order announcement gives the Smart version a claimed top speed of 113 km/h, 0–50 km/h acceleration in 3.3 seconds, and 320 N·m of peak torque. Those figures suggest a vehicle intended for motorcycle use rather than a low-speed neighborhood scooter, although independent testing is still needed to establish real-world acceleration, high-speed stability, and braking performance.
The range figures require particular care because OMOWAY uses different battery capacities and test conditions:
| Battery or test basis | Published maximum range | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Standard 5.38 kWh battery | Up to 200 km | Measured at a continuous 30 km/h |
| Long-range 7.68 kWh battery | Up to 260 km | Measured at a continuous 30 km/h |
| Long-range battery under WMTC RS1 | Up to 210 km | Separate WMTC RS1 test condition |
The 260 km and 210 km long-range figures are therefore not interchangeable. The first is the company’s result at a constant 30 km/h, while the second is reported under WMTC RS1 conditions. Actual range will depend on speed, traffic, rider weight, temperature, hills, tire pressure, payload, riding mode, and use of electrical systems. Until an independent test is available, these numbers are best treated as manufacturer specifications rather than a guaranteed daily range.
Charging options
OMOWAY lists three charging approaches for the OMO X:
- An OMO charging station can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in 60 minutes.
- Compatibility with EV car chargers is described as allowing a full charge in as little as two hours.
- A smart portable fast charger is advertised as capable of charging from 0% to 80% in two hours.
Those are different charging scenarios, and the percentages matter. A 10–80% claim is not a full-charge claim, while 0–80% does not describe the time needed to reach 100%. Charging speed can also depend on the charger’s output, battery temperature, electrical installation, and local infrastructure. Prospective owners should confirm which charger is included, what connector and power requirements apply, and whether the advertised charging equipment is available in their market.
For home use, access to suitable home EV charging equipment may matter more than the headline range. Buyers should ask a dealer whether a dedicated OMO charging station is required, whether an EV car charger can be used without an adapter, and what installation work is needed. These questions are especially important outside Indonesia, where OMOWAY’s charging network and equipment availability have not been established.

Chassis, rider assistance, and connected features
OMOWAY gives the OMO X a 2,078 × 788 × 1,137 mm body and a 1,500 mm wheelbase. The chassis uses a front independent double-wishbone suspension and a rear single-sided swingarm. That layout is unusual for a scooter-shaped vehicle and supports OMOWAY’s positioning of the OMO X as a motorcycle rather than a simple urban runabout.
The Smart version announcement lists dual-channel ABS and traction control. OMOWAY also advertises AutoHold, cruise control, hill-descent control, and an automatic side stand. These features could make frequent urban riding easier, but they do not replace conventional rider training. Cruise control, for example, does not remove the need to monitor traffic, road surface, weather, or battery status.
The cockpit and software package are central to the OMO X concept. The 10.25-inch HALO smart cockpit is designed to display vehicle information and support smartphone screen mirroring for navigation. The official product description also lists:
- digital-key and proximity-unlock functions;
- remote vehicle controls;
- ride-data tracking;
- OTA software updates; and
- a multi-function control interface.
Smartphone mirroring means an external motorcycle phone mount is optional rather than essential. The built-in display may already cover navigation needs, and adding a phone to the handlebar could create visibility, vibration, weather, or distraction concerns. Anyone using an external mount should ensure that it does not obstruct the cockpit, controls, or road view.
What the Balance version adds
OMOWAY presents the Balance version as the configuration with additional pilot intelligent-driving functions. The listed features include free parking, smart summon, guard mode, an integrated dashcam, and rear-view vision. OTA-enabled features are also associated with the Balance version in the company’s product material.
The wording matters. “Smart summon” and “free parking” should not automatically be read as unrestricted autonomous operation. The available description does not establish the operating limits, supervision requirements, geofencing, road conditions, failure behavior, or regulatory status of these functions. Before buying, a customer should request a live demonstration and ask exactly what the system can do without rider input, where it can be used, and what happens if sensors, software, connectivity, or the balance system fails.
Design and riding position
OMOWAY says the OMO X has a multi-transformable module that can switch among Scooter, Street, and GT modes. The idea is to let one vehicle adopt different visual or practical configurations rather than locking the buyer into a single scooter silhouette.
The company has also announced a 2026 iF DESIGN AWARD claim. That recognition may support the OMO X’s design credentials, but an award is not independent evidence of range, durability, safety, or engineering superiority. The same distinction applies to the company’s “world’s first mass-produced self-balancing motorcycle” description: it is a notable positioning statement, but it should remain attributed to OMOWAY.
Indonesia launch and availability
OMOWAY announced on March 13, 2026 that the OMO X had entered mass production. The company said Indonesian pre-orders would open in late April, followed by an official sales launch in late May.
In its April 25 announcement, OMOWAY listed Indonesian pre-order prices starting at:

- IDR 44.5 million for the Smart version; and
- IDR 61.5 million for the Balance version.
Those were stated as prices before the early-bird incentive described in the announcement. OMOWAY said mass deliveries would begin in June 2026 in reservation order. A later company update said customer deliveries had begun in June, with Indonesia as the first delivery market.
OMOWAY also reported dozens of dealer locations across Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, other major cities on Java, and Bali. Its stated expansion path includes Thailand, Singapore, and European markets. That is not confirmation of sales in every named market, and it does not establish current U.S. availability.
Is the OMO X available in the United States?
The reviewed official material does not verify a U.S. sales channel, U.S. homologation, state registration status, insurance availability, or U.S. dealer and service support. A U.S. buyer should not assume that an Indonesian launch price translates into a legal, supported purchase in the United States.

Before importing or placing a deposit, a buyer would need to verify at least:
- whether the vehicle meets applicable federal and state requirements;
- whether it can be titled, registered, and insured in the buyer’s state;
- what motorcycle license or endorsement is required;
- whether replacement batteries and safety-critical parts can be supplied;
- who performs warranty repairs and software diagnosis; and
- whether the charging system is compatible with the local electrical installation.
Those requirements vary by jurisdiction. Until OMOWAY or an authorized regional distributor publishes the relevant documentation, the OMO X should be treated as an Indonesia-first product with future international expansion—not as a confirmed U.S.-market motorcycle.
Ownership support, warranty, and service
OMOWAY’s ownership proposition extends beyond the balance system. In its launch-market materials, the company advertises nationwide roadside assistance, free towing or rescue within 25 km of an authorized service center during stated service hours, remote diagnosis, online repair, intelligent fault alerts, parts pre-ordering, and a courtesy vehicle when a qualifying repair takes more than 24 hours.
The product page also states a two-year, unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and a seven-year or 140,000-km battery warranty. These should be read as market-specific manufacturer claims. Warranty exclusions, battery-capacity thresholds, transfer rules, software coverage, labor coverage, and geographic limits need to be confirmed in the actual sales contract.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Safety: self-balancing does not eliminate motorcycle risk
The low-speed balance function could prevent some awkward tip-overs at a stop, but it does not make the OMO X risk-free. It cannot be assumed to prevent collisions, maintain control on every surface, protect the rider in a crash, or compensate for excessive speed and poor visibility.
A rider should plan for motorcycle-level protection appropriate to local law and the vehicle’s claimed 113 km/h top speed. That includes a properly fitted motorcycle helmet selected for the applicable jurisdiction, along with suitable riding clothing, gloves, and footwear. The correct certification depends on where the motorcycle will be operated; buyers should check local regulations rather than assuming that any helmet marketed for scooters is legally or practically appropriate.
Because no independent balance, braking, crash, or reliability test was verified, a careful test ride should include more than a short demonstration of standing upright. Prospective owners should ask to evaluate low-speed starts and stops, hill starts, emergency braking, turning, uneven surfaces, wet conditions if safe, system warnings, manual recovery procedures, and what happens after the rider disables or loses balance assistance.

What still needs independent verification?
The OMO X has an unusually strong technology story, but several practical questions remain unanswered by the reviewed material:
- How consistently does the balance system perform in rain, on slopes, over potholes, and with different rider weights?
- What happens if the gyroscope, sensors, software, battery, or connectivity fails?
- Does balance assistance remain active during braking or cornering, and what are its exact speed limits?
- Do the claimed 113 km/h acceleration and range figures match independent testing?
- How quickly does the battery charge in ordinary household conditions?
- What are the long-term costs of tires, suspension, brakes, software, sensors, and battery replacement?
- Are Balance pilot features available at delivery or only after later OTA updates?
- Which countries can legally sell, register, insure, and service the vehicle?
Until those questions are answered, the strongest case for the OMO X is that it represents a serious consumer attempt at low-speed motorcycle stabilization—not that it has already proved a new standard for safety or reliability.
Should you pay attention to the OMO X?
Yes, if you are interested in electric motorcycles, urban mobility, or rider-assistance technology. The combination of active low-speed balancing, motorcycle-grade claimed performance, a large connected cockpit, multiple charging options, and a Balance version with additional pilot functions gives the OMO X a more substantial proposition than a novelty self-balancing vehicle.
But buyers should evaluate the support network as carefully as the technology. In Indonesia, OMOWAY has described dealers, charging resources, roadside assistance, remote diagnostics, and warranty coverage. In other markets—especially the United States—availability, certification, insurance, licensing, service, and parts support remain unverified in the available official information.

The OMO X is therefore most interesting as a promising, manufacturer-reported product entering its first delivery market. Its ultimate significance will depend on independent testing and on whether OMOWAY can provide reliable service, parts, charging, and software support beyond that initial launch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the OMOWAY OMO X fully autonomous?
No. OMOWAY describes the OMO X’s system as active balance assistance for low-speed starts, stops, traffic lights, and stop-and-go riding. It does not establish fully autonomous riding or remove the need for rider control and attention.
What is the OMO X’s range?
OMOWAY reports up to 200 km with the 5.38 kWh battery and up to 260 km with the 7.68 kWh battery when measured continuously at 30 km/h. It separately reports up to 210 km for the long-range version under WMTC RS1 conditions. These are manufacturer claims, not independently verified range results.
Can you buy the OMO X in the United States?
The first delivery market identified in OMOWAY’s launch material is Indonesia. The company has mentioned future expansion to Thailand, Singapore, and Europe, but the reviewed sources do not verify U.S. sales, certification, registration, insurance, or dealer support.

The OMO X is still a motorcycle-format vehicle with a claimed top speed of 113 km/h. Riders should use a properly fitted motorcycle helmet and other protective gear appropriate to local law and riding conditions. Self-balancing assistance does not replace motorcycle safety equipment.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: OMOWAY’s OMO X is a self-balancing electric motorcycle designed to make low-speed riding easier, not an autonomous vehicle that removes normal motorcycle risks. Its published specifications are impressive, but the range, acceleration, balance performance, durability, and international market support still need independent verification. Indonesian buyers have the clearest path to ownership; U.S. availability and legal support have not been established.
