No. The 10-year/150,000-mile period is an emissions-related extension for qualifying SULEV plug-in hybrid vehicles, not a blanket promise for every GLE 450e. The 2025 booklet describes coverage for a new plug-in hybrid that meets SULEV, was first sold by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership and is registered in an applicable state.

States listed for the extended term
The 2025 booklet lists California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. State programs and vehicle certification can change, so treat the list as a verification starting point rather than an assumption that any car moving into one of those states automatically qualifies.
How to verify eligibility before buying
- Read the vehicle emissions control information (VECI) label and confirm that the vehicle is certified as SULEV.
- Check where the vehicle was first sold. The booklet specifies first sale by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.
- Confirm the state in which the vehicle is registered and compare it with the applicable-state list.
- Ask a Mercedes-Benz service department to document the battery-warranty term in writing against the VIN, especially for a used import, lease return or vehicle that has changed states.
Without all of those conditions, use the standard six-year/62,000-mile battery limit for planning purposes.
What the high-voltage battery warranty covers—and what it does not
The warranty addresses covered defects and qualifying battery problems during the stated period. It also explains that gradual loss of battery capacity happens with time and use. Capacity loss is covered only within the battery-warranty terms; the warranty is not an unlimited guarantee that the battery will retain its original electric range.

Excluded actions and conditions
The booklet excludes failures associated with opening the battery enclosure or having high-voltage battery work performed outside an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. It also excludes damage or failure linked to:
- Neglecting the prescribed charging procedures.
- Using incompatible charging equipment or devices.
- Failing to repair an existing problem that contributes to later damage.
- Improper maintenance.
These exclusions make documentation and equipment choice important. Keep service invoices, charging-equipment records and any diagnostic reports, and use charging hardware approved for the vehicle. High-voltage work should be handled by an authorized facility when preserving warranty eligibility is a priority.
Range loss is not automatically a warranty failure
The dashboard’s estimated electric range is influenced by temperature, speed, traffic, terrain, climate-control use, tire pressure and recent driving. Mercedes-Benz’s booklet says a range estimate alone is an imperfect measure of battery capacity. If you believe capacity has fallen materially, ask the service department to perform the manufacturer’s prescribed battery-capacity test rather than relying on one displayed range number.

Mercedes-Benz controls the measurement method and determines whether an approved remedy is repair, battery replacement or reconditioned parts. A claim therefore requires a qualifying test result and an in-term warranty condition; a disappointing trip computer estimate by itself does not establish entitlement.
What maintenance does Mercedes include?
Mercedes-Benz says a new vehicle includes an integrated service package for up to two years. The exact services and expiration are tied to the vehicle and its in-service date, so read the purchase documents rather than assuming every scheduled visit is free.
Mercedes also offers prepaid maintenance for up to four years. Buying it at the time of purchase can lock in the quoted price for covered routine services. It is a prepaid contract, not an extension of the high-voltage battery warranty, and it does not normally turn wear items or energy costs into included maintenance.

Routine work that can appear in the maintenance schedule
- Scheduled inspections and electronic diagnostic checks.
- Engine oil and oil-filter changes when the gasoline engine’s service schedule calls for them.
- Air and cabin filters at their specified intervals.
- Spark plugs and transmission-related service where required by the maintenance booklet.
- Checks of brakes, tires, steering, suspension, charging equipment and fluid levels.
The gasoline engine may run infrequently in a plug-in hybrid, but infrequent use does not automatically eliminate time-based service. Follow the maintenance booklet for the VIN and model year, including calendar intervals when mileage is low.
Which GLE 450e costs are outside the warranty?
A warranty is not a total-cost-of-ownership plan. Build a budget using separate categories so an apparently low service bill does not hide larger operating expenses.

Pay-as-you-go service versus prepaid maintenance
There is no single best choice for every owner. Compare the dealer’s prepaid quote with the services you realistically expect to use during the ownership period.

Charging-heavy and gasoline-heavy ownership scenarios
If you can charge regularly
Charging at home or work can reduce gasoline use, but electricity is still an operating cost. Record your kilowatt-hours and local rate for a realistic monthly estimate. Include charging losses and occasional public-charging fees if they apply to your routine. The engine may still start for power, temperature or operating-system reasons, so do not assume every mile will be electric.
If charging is inconvenient
A GLE plug-in hybrid driven mostly on gasoline still incurs the maintenance obligations of a vehicle with an internal-combustion engine, including oil and filter service at the prescribed intervals. You also carry the weight and complexity of the plug-in system without receiving its full fuel-saving potential. Obtain an insurance quote and a fuel estimate based on your actual commute before deciding that the plug-in configuration will lower costs.
What to do if the battery loses electric range
- Check operating conditions. Note outside temperature, tire pressures, route, speed, climate-control use and whether the estimate changed after a recent charge.
- Review charging equipment. Confirm that the cable and charging device are compatible and that charging procedures match Mercedes-Benz instructions.
- Check for maintenance or warning messages. Save dashboard messages and the date and mileage when they appeared.
- Gather records. Bring service invoices, charging history if available, and the vehicle’s current mileage to the service appointment.
- Request a capacity diagnosis. Ask the authorized dealer to use the manufacturer’s battery test. A range estimate alone is not the warranty measurement.
- Obtain the written decision. If the test identifies a covered condition, ask whether Mercedes-Benz will repair, replace or install reconditioned parts under the applicable warranty. If it is outside coverage, request a separate paid-repair estimate.
Do not open the battery enclosure or use an unauthorized repairer while a warranty claim is being evaluated. Those actions are specifically identified as exclusion triggers.

- Confirm the model year and VIN; warranty language can differ between years.
- Read the VECI label and verify SULEV status before counting on the 10-year/150,000-mile term.

- Compare those totals with the Mercedes prepaid-maintenance quote, including what is and is not covered.
- Confirm that the supplied charging cable and any home charger are compatible and that no unauthorized high-voltage work has been performed.
- Price insurance, registration, financing and depreciation separately from service costs.
Questions to ask a Mercedes-Benz service department
- What is the in-service date and exact battery-warranty end date for this VIN?
- Does the VECI label show SULEV certification, and does this vehicle qualify for the listed state-specific extension?
- Which services are still available under the integrated service package?
- What operations and dates are included in the prepaid-maintenance proposal?
- What is the current price for the next scheduled service, including labor, parts and taxes?
- If range has fallen, which battery-capacity test will be used and what documentation will be provided?
- Which repair outcome would apply if the battery test confirms a covered condition?

Plan on six years or 62,000 miles of standard high-voltage battery coverage for a 2025 U.S.-specification GLE 450e, not an automatic 10-year term. The longer coverage is conditional on SULEV certification, authorized first sale and registration in a qualifying state.
