The federation says Infront, the championship promoter, and event organizer MXGP Flanders announced the extension at a press conference on 2 October 2026.
What the reported extension changes
The new term extends Lommel’s place on the calendar beyond the agreement Infront Moto Racing announced in October 2023. That earlier contract guaranteed the MXGP of Flanders for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions. FMB-BMB reports that the contract due to expire in 2026 has now been extended by five years, through 2031.

The five-year renewal is reported by FMB-BMB; the official MXGP announcement linked below confirms the previous 2024–2026 term, not the new extension.
Why Lommel matters to MXGP
Lommel is a sand circuit. MXGP’s venue listing gives the track length as 1,829 metres. In its 2023 contract announcement, Infront described the venue as technically demanding and pointed to the concentration of motocross teams around the city as part of its significance to the championship.

In the federation’s 2026 report, Infront CEO David Luongo called Lommel “one of the most important events” on the calendar. That is the promoter’s characterization, rather than an independently measured ranking. The federation also reports that organizer Jo De Munck emphasized the value of securing a long-term agreement.
