The Kia EV4 GT is a quicker, all-wheel-drive performance version of the EV4, but it is not a cheaper equivalent to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. UK road-test reporting puts it at £49,345 and 5.6 seconds from 0–62 mph—about £15,000 below the Ioniq 5 N—while describing its performance as less intense. The EV4 GT’s appeal is a more accessible blend of family-car practicality, compliant everyday manners and playful simulated shifts and sound.
What is the Kia EV4 GT?
The EV4 GT is the performance model in Kia’s EV4 range. It is distinct from the EV4 GT-Line: GT-Line is a trim designation, while the GT has its own dual-motor, four-wheel-drive specification and performance equipment. Kia Korea lists the EV4 GT as a dedicated 4WD model, with launch control, Virtual Gear Shift (VGS), preview electronic control suspension and dynamic torque vectoring. Kia’s Korean GT price and equipment page and its September 2026 brochure provide the market-specific details.
The figures differ by market and source, so they should not be blended into one universal specification. Kia Korea’s technical page gives the car’s Korean-market battery and output, while the UK figures below come from evo’s road-test reporting.
How quick is the EV4 GT?
For the UK-market car, evo reports 288 bhp, 345 lb-ft of torque and a 0–62 mph time of 5.6 seconds. That is brisk, but the same review says the EV4 GT does not match the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N’s performance. Autocar also lists a 5.6-second 0–62 mph time and 105 mph top speed, but marks some of its figures, including price and kerb weight, as estimates; evo’s UK figures are the more useful basis for this comparison. Autocar’s EV4 GT coverage also places Kia GT models on a less committed performance footing than Hyundai N models.

- Power - 100 Max x 4 @ 2 Ohms, 50 Max x 4 @ 4 Ohms
- Class A/B Topology - Class ‘A’ amplifiers have enormous amount of current flowing through its output transistors with no audio signal. Class ‘B’ amplifiers have no current flowing through its outputs with no audio signal
- Full Range - With a Full Range amplifier you not only have the option to run your speakers, but also your subwoofers
- Low & High Level Inputs - A low level (RCA) input is measured in voltages. A high level (+/- wire) input is measured in wattages. Both essentially carry signal from your receiver to your amplifier to your speakers
- Fixed Low-Pass Crossover - Subwoofers reproduce sound based on a number of different low-range frequencies. Set the switch to the Low Pass mode for optimized bass frequency reproduction
What Kia Korea reports
For the Korean-market EV4 GT, Kia lists an 81.4 kWh battery, 215 kW peak output, 468 Nm of torque and 4WD. Its stated government-reported range is 425 km combined, with 440 km in the city and 406 km on the highway. Kia cautions that actual range varies with road conditions, driving style, load, maintenance and ambient temperature. These are Korean-market figures under Kia’s stated reporting method—not WLTP figures—and should not be compared directly with a UK WLTP result or a figure from another market without a like-for-like test basis. Kia Korea’s EV4 GT technical specification gives the figures and qualification.
Is it a budget Hyundai Ioniq 5 N?
Only in the limited sense that it is a less expensive performance EV from a related brand. In evo’s UK reporting, the EV4 GT starts at £49,345, roughly £15,000 less than the Ioniq 5 N. The gap is specific to that UK-market comparison; it should not be carried over to other countries or assumed to remain current. More importantly, evo says the Kia’s performance does not match the Hyundai’s. The EV4 GT is better understood as the more accessible, comfort-oriented choice, rather than a direct Ioniq 5 N substitute.

What does the GT add to the drive?
The GT’s character is not just about its motors. Kia lists launch control, VGS, preview electronic control suspension and dynamic torque vectoring among its GT equipment; the September 2026 brochure describes VGS working with e-ASD. evo says simulated gear changes and synthesized sound add engagement, while the car remains compliant in everyday driving. Its verdict is closer to “warm” than “hot”: the software and sound provide theatre, but do not turn it into the more single-minded kind of performance car implied by the Ioniq 5 N comparison.

- Power - 400 Max x 4 @ 2 Ohms, 200 Max x 4 @ 4 Ohms, 800 Max Bridged x 2 @ 4 Ohms
- Bridgeable - Dramatically increase the power output to you speakers and subwoofers by connecting two amplifier channels
- Low & High Level Inputs - A low level (RCA) input is measured in voltages. A high level (+/- wire) input is measured in wattages. Both essentially carry signal from your receiver to your amplifier to your speakers
- Variable Low-Pass Crossover - Subwoofers reproduce sound based on a number of different low-range frequencies. You can set exact sound specifications for the bass frequency reproduction
- Variable High-Pass Crossover - Speakers reproduce sound based on high, low or mid-range frequencies. A variable high pass crossover gears specifically towards “highs” such as all size speakers including mid ranges and tweeters
Can it work as a family car?
According to evo, the GT retains the regular EV4’s practical layout, including a flat floor, useful storage and family usability. That makes the Kia’s mix of pace and day-to-day comfort central to its case, rather than treating practicality as an afterthought. The same review criticizes seat comfort on longer drives and the depth of the menus, so a buyer should assess both on a test drive rather than assume the GT’s everyday strengths make it ideal for every journey.
What does the Kia EV4 GT cost?
The two quoted prices apply to different markets and must remain separate. evo’s UK review gives a £49,345 starting price. Kia Korea’s price page lists 55,170,000 won after tax benefits. These are market-specific published figures, not interchangeable conversions; local price, tax treatment and availability can change. Check the current local price list before buying. Kia’s September 2026 brochure also notes that specifications may vary with trim, selected options and supplier circumstances, and directs buyers to the latest price list.

Is the EV4 GT a genuine electric hot hatch?
That label is debatable. evo’s Sam Jenkins wrote on 1 October 2026: “The Kia EV4 GT is said to be the brand’s first ever hot hatch, but we struggle to see that.” That is the road-test author’s judgment, not a Kia claim. The car has the all-wheel-drive hardware and driver-focused features expected of a performance model, but the reporting describes a practical, compliant GT with warm rather than especially intense performance. Whether “hot hatch” fits depends on how much weight a buyer gives to its performance equipment versus its comfort-first character.

Who should consider the EV4 GT?
- Consider it if you want a practical electric family car with all-wheel drive, a noticeable performance step and playful sound-and-shift features, without aiming for the Ioniq 5 N’s level of commitment.
- Look beyond it if your priority is the most intense performance experience or long-distance seat comfort; evo’s review flags the latter as a weakness on longer drives.
- Verify before purchase if you are comparing range, price or equipment across countries. The published Korean range and price are not UK figures, and Kia says specifications can vary by trim, options and supplier circumstances.
