A headline discount is not your savings if it depends on a rebate you cannot claim or is offset by charges you did not agree to.
Start with the exact Rogue, not just the model name
A useful comparison needs the same model year, trim, front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), installed equipment, and destination treatment. Ask for the vehicle identification number (VIN) or stock number, then confirm whether the vehicle is new, a demo, or otherwise sold under a different status. Compare the vehicle’s window sticker with its written quote so that another trim or accessory package is not making the apparent discount look larger.
Nissan’s July 29, 2025 pricing release, updated in February 2026 for the mid-cycle 2026.5 model, lists these MSRPs:

Nissan lists a $1,575 destination and handling charge. Its MSRP figures exclude destination and handling, taxes, title, license, and options; the dealer sets the actual selling price. Treat the listed prices as a manufacturer baseline, not as a local offer or a guarantee of what a dealer will charge. Check Nissan’s 2026.5 Rogue pricing release and the specific vehicle’s window sticker.

Ask the dealer to show how the discount is calculated
“$X off” can combine a genuine dealer price reduction with manufacturer incentives that have conditions. Ask for an itemized written quote that separates each amount:
- The vehicle’s MSRP and the dealer’s selling price before incentives.
- Each Nissan rebate or incentive, its eligibility requirements, and whether it can be combined with the financing offer.
- Dealer fees and dealer- or port-installed products.
- Destination and handling, taxes, title, and registration charges.
- The final out-the-door total.
Use Nissan’s special offers page with your ZIP code, model year, and offer type selected. Offers are location- and vehicle-dependent; programs such as Military and College Graduate offers have eligibility rules. Do not count an incentive as your savings until you have confirmed that you qualify and the dealer has put the amount in the quote.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) identifies omitting required fees from an advertised price and including rebates unavailable to all consumers as examples of illegal pricing practices. Its guidance on pricing practices is a reason to scrutinize conditional savings, not to assume every advertised offer is available to every buyer.
Compare the out-the-door price, not the monthly payment
Request written out-the-door (OTD) quotes from multiple dealers for the same VIN or a materially identical configuration. OTD means the complete amount due to buy the vehicle, including applicable taxes and required charges. Compare the cash purchase totals first; assess financing or leasing separately, with the full terms in view.

A lower monthly payment can come from a longer loan, more money due at signing, a different annual percentage rate (APR), or different lease terms—not a lower vehicle price. Keep any trade-in separate while comparing vehicle prices, because a trade allowance can obscure a higher selling price.
In 2026 prepared remarks, FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Christopher Mufarrige said the most prominent advertised price should be the amount a consumer can pay at the dealership, apart from required government charges such as taxes. He also said dealers can negotiate below the advertised price. The ad is therefore a starting point for requesting a written quote, not a substitute for checking the complete deal. Check every fee and add-on before agreeing
Review line items for protection packages, paint or fabric treatments, theft products, service contracts, maintenance plans, inspection or reconditioning charges, and other dealer-added products. For each, ask whether it is optional, whether it is already installed, and whether the dealer will sell the vehicle without it. Ask for an explanation of any unclear fee and have the agreed charges confirmed in writing.
In the same 2026 remarks, Mufarrige described a $4 million settlement with a Nissan dealership following allegations of deceptive fees. His example involved a vehicle advertised for $15,000 and an alleged $5,000 inspection fee even though, according to the remarks, the vehicle had already been inspected; he also described alleged charges for add-ons consumers had not agreed to. These were allegations and enforcement examples, not findings about every Nissan dealer or a typical Rogue quote.

Nissan’s 2026 Rogue press kit lists suggested prices for some port-installed accessories, including $260 splash guards, $465 packages of floor mats, a cargo protector, seatback protector, and first-aid kit on some trims, and a $205 retractable cargo cover. These figures can help identify listed Nissan accessories; they do not show that a dealer-installed product is required or worth the price quoted to you.
Use a buyer-specific test, not a universal discount target
There is no established national transaction-price benchmark here for the identical Rogue configuration, so a single dollar amount or percentage off is not a reliable pass/fail rule. The relevant offer depends on the exact vehicle, location, available inventory, timing, and which incentives you can claim. Check the local offers page and compare current written quotes for the same configuration.
A discount is more credible when the quote starts from the correct vehicle’s MSRP, shows the dealer reduction separately from each incentive, includes only rebates you qualify for, explains required charges, and removes optional products you do not want. If a headline discount relies on an unavailable rebate, excludes a required charge, or is offset by a product the dealer insists you buy, it does not represent your actual savings.
