Which Honda Rebel 500 motorcycles are reported to be affected?
Autocar India reported in 2026 that the India campaign covers 96 motorcycles manufactured from April through August 2025. Those dates describe the reported production window; they do not establish whether an individual bike is included. Honda’s VIN or chassis-number lookup is the way to check a specific motorcycle.
The reported campaign details come from Indian news coverage. The official Honda India pages available for this article provide general recall-checking guidance, not a Rebel 500-specific recall notice.
What is the reported defect?
According to the news reports, the handle-lock fixing nut may not have been tightened to specification during assembly. If it loosens, steering movement could be affected. Autocar India reported that no related incidents had been reported in India as of September 30, 2026; that is a dated incident-status report, not evidence that the defect is harmless.

How to check whether your bike is included
- Find your motorcycle’s VIN or chassis number in its vehicle documents or on the motorcycle.
- Enter it in Honda India’s official recall and product-update lookup. The page is Honda’s general lookup, rather than a campaign-specific Rebel 500 notice.
- If the lookup indicates that your motorcycle is affected, contact an authorized Honda BigWing dealership to arrange the reported repair. Confirm the process and appointment with the dealer.
If the online lookup does not give a clear result, ask an authorized BigWing dealer to check the VIN before arranging any work.
What repair is reported, and when does it start?
News reports say Honda will replace the affected nut free of charge, regardless of the motorcycle’s warranty status. The reported campaign start date is November 1, 2026. As of October 3, 2026, that date is still in the future; contact a dealer to confirm when service can be booked and whether the campaign is active when you check.

Do not treat self-repair or an aftermarket part as a substitute for the reported dealer remedy. The reported fix is a free replacement through the authorized service channel.
