That makes it an intriguing alternative to Singer-style Porsche 911 commissions—not a proven universal “gold standard.” Its specifications also remain inconsistent across Evoluto’s own pages, so buyers should confirm the exact engine and commission details directly.
What is the Ferrari F355 restomod by Evoluto?
The 355 by Evoluto is a bespoke restoration and re-engineering program based on an existing, customer-supplied Ferrari F355. DRVN Automotive Group described the process in 2024 as taking a donor car apart and reworking it; Evoluto’s current site likewise says it modifies customer automobiles and is not affiliated with Ferrari. It is therefore not a new Ferrari, a factory special edition or a Ferrari-authorized conversion. Evoluto’s current program overview sets out that distinction.
The concept is to retain the F355’s identity while addressing its structure and dynamics with modern engineering. The company describes chassis reinforcement, carbon-fiber bodywork, revised suspension and steering, and a reworked naturally aspirated V8. Those changes are substantial, but the intended result is still recognizably an F355 rather than a visually unrelated supercar.
What the program says it changes
- Structure and body: Evoluto says it reinforces the chassis and uses carbon-fiber bodywork. Its current pages claim a 23% increase in torsional stiffness and a 13% improvement in body efficiency; these are company development figures, not independently established results. Evoluto’s Design & Engineering page provides the technical framing.
- Chassis and controls: Revised suspension and steering are intended to alter the car’s response. MotorTrend’s June 2026 first-drive coverage discusses wider tracks, quicker steering, carbon bracing and new suspension as part of that effort. MotorTrend’s first drive offers the publication’s impressions, not a controlled comparison against a 911 restomod.
- Engine: The original V8 is extensively reworked. DRVN’s 2024 release said the engine included more than 200 new or redesigned components, and named Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and Brembo brakes among the program’s components. Those are launch-era statements; the exact specification for a current commission should be confirmed.
How does it compare with a Singer Porsche 911?
The comparison is about the restomod approach and market position, not two identical cars or a head-to-head verdict. Singer’s work on the Porsche 911 has helped define a visible restomod category: a cherished donor, extensive bespoke craftsmanship, updated engineering and a strong effort to preserve the platform’s character. MotorTrend explicitly places Evoluto in that broader 911-restomod conversation.

| Comparison point | 355 by Evoluto | Singer-style 911 restomod |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Customer-supplied Ferrari F355 donor; the car is dismantled and reworked, according to DRVN’s 2024 release. | A Porsche 911 donor is central to the Singer-style approach discussed by MotorTrend; exact donor generation and scope depend on the individual program. |
| Engine and output | Evoluto’s current homepage lists a 3.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 at 480 PS; its Design & Engineering page lists a production-intent 3.5-liter at 420 PS. The discrepancy is unresolved. | Not stated in the cited MotorTrend coverage as a single comparable specification; Singer commissions vary by model and configuration. |
| Weight and structure | Evoluto lists 1,250 kg and claims a 23% torsional-stiffness increase. The figures are company claims and can be specification-dependent. | No equivalent figure is established in the cited comparison coverage. |
| Commission and price | Evoluto lists 55 commissions. MotorTrend characterized the car at about $800,000 in June 2026; this is not an official current quote. | No like-for-like current price or commission availability is established in the cited comparison coverage. |
The Evoluto’s distinction is the donor platform: a mid-engined V8 Ferrari rather than a rear-engined flat-six Porsche. That changes the sound, packaging and character the engineering must work around. MotorTrend’s reported drive discusses the Evoluto’s steering and chassis response, but one outlet’s impressions do not establish that it is better than a Singer or every other 911 restomod.
What engine does the 355 by Evoluto have?
There is no single unambiguous current answer in the published specifications. Evoluto’s current homepage lists a 3.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 producing 480 PS at 9,000 rpm. Its Design & Engineering page instead describes a production-intent 3.5-liter V8 producing 420 PS. Autocar reported in February 2026 that development had been completed for a 420 bhp configuration, while DRVN’s 2024 launch release described a 420 hp, 8,500-rpm engine. These figures differ in both displacement and output, and the sources do not explain whether they represent different stages, commission specifications or a revised plan.

For context, the 420 bhp version was reported by Autocar after 5,000 miles of track driving; that report is not a published independent test protocol for the engine’s output or durability. The useful buyer question is not which figure sounds most compelling, but which engine specification is included in the particular commission being offered.
Transmission information is also tied to launch-era reporting: Motoring Research described a six-speed open-gate manual in July 2024. Confirm the transmission and final specification with Evoluto for any individual build rather than assuming every project is identical. Autocar’s February 2026 report and Motoring Research’s July 2024 overview give their respective dates and figures.

How much does the 355 by Evoluto cost?
There is no confirmed current price list in the cited company material. DRVN said in 2024 that pricing varies with customer requirements. MotorTrend’s June 4, 2026 headline and deck characterized the car at approximately $800,000; treat that as the publication’s reported characterization, not a universal price or current written quote. The final cost and specification need to be established with Evoluto for the donor and commission in question.

Evoluto’s current pages list 55 commissions, and DRVN’s 2024 release also described a 55-car program. The current company pages state a two-year/20,000-mile warranty. Those published terms and the stated commission limit may change or depend on the market and contract, so prospective customers should obtain the applicable terms and availability directly from Evoluto.

Does the 355 by Evoluto deserve “new restomod gold standard” status?
It is a credible candidate for that description if “gold standard” means an ambitious, platform-specific rethink with a clear design brief—not a settled ranking. The F355 donor gives it a distinct identity among high-end restomods, and the program combines structural work, carbon body panels and revised chassis systems rather than relying on cosmetic refresh alone. DRVN named Ian Callum as the project designer; Callum said the challenge was to update the 355 while respecting the original.
But the title’s superlative remains an opinion. The conflicting engine specifications, absence of a confirmed public current price and lack of a directly comparable test against a Singer make any definitive winner claim premature. A more useful standard is whether a particular commission delivers the promised feel, finish, engineering and support for its buyer—and whether its exact specification is documented before the agreement is signed.
