Deputies arrested two drivers on allegations of reckless driving and street racing. The 107-mph figure is what the agency says the camera displayed—not a speed independently measured by the deputy.
What happened on Bridgeport Way W?
At about 9:30 p.m. on September 8, 2026, a deputy conducting a speed-enforcement operation on Bridgeport Way W saw two vehicles slow alongside each other and then accelerate together, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office account republished by The Cascadian. The posted speed limit was 35 mph.
The deputy tried to stop the vehicles but was unsuccessful. An area check later located both cars parked side by side in a nearby lot. The sheriff’s account says the two drivers, both 25-year-old men, were arrested on allegations of reckless driving and street racing and booked into Pierce County Jail. These are allegations; the available reports do not establish later charges or court outcomes.
How did the dashcam footage help deputies?
After a judge approved a search warrant, the sheriff’s account says deputies seized a suspect’s dashcam as evidence and reviewed its recording. The agency reported that the footage showed one vehicle accelerating to 107 mph in the posted 35-mph zone.

That figure should be understood as a speed shown in the recording, not as a direct speed measurement by the deputy. The Autowire’s report notes that the deputy did not measure the car traveling at 107 mph himself. The footage’s reported display is evidence cited by the sheriff’s office; the material available here does not independently verify its accuracy.
Which cars were involved, and what happened to them?
The sheriff’s account does not name the makes or models. Carscoops identified the vehicles as a Porsche 911 and an Audi R8, so those identifications are attributable to secondary reporting rather than the agency statement.

The sheriff’s office says both vehicles received 72-hour impound holds. Its account also describes possible forfeiture after a second street-racing offense under Washington law, but it does not establish that forfeiture will occur in either driver’s case. No later charging, conviction, sentence, or forfeiture outcome is established in the reports cited here.

In KIRO 7’s coverage, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Carly Cappetto described the risk posed by street racing to other people in the community. The report highlights the road environment, including driveways, businesses, shopping centers, and pedestrian crossings. At 107 mph, a driver has far less time to react to someone entering the roadway or to another vehicle’s movement than at the posted limit.
