Documented Cybertruck problems include accelerator-pedal retention, windshield-wiper and drive-inverter issues, a delayed rearview-camera image, a panel that could separate from the vehicle, and noncompliant parking-lamp output. These are recall issues affecting specific vehicles or software versions—not evidence that every Cybertruck has each defect. The available recall records establish six distinct themes, not twelve, so this roundup sticks to those documented problems rather than padding the count.

Six documented Cybertruck recall problems

Each item below is tied to the affected vehicles or software condition identified by Tesla, NHTSA, or the cited news report. A recall announcement does not mean every truck is affected; check the VIN for a specific vehicle.

1. Accelerator pedal pad could dislodge

Tesla recalled certain 2024 model-year Cybertrucks to replace or rework the accelerator pedal assembly so the pad would have sufficient retention force and not come loose. This is a documented pedal-retention defect; it is not proof of an uncontrolled-acceleration event in every truck. Tesla directs owners to check applicability by VIN. Tesla’s recall notice.

2. Windshield wiper motor could fail

Certain 2024 Cybertrucks were recalled for a replacement wiper motor with a properly functioning gate-driver component. NHTSA says, “Windshield wiper failure can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.” Tesla’s recall notice; NHTSA recall 24V-456.

3. Drive inverter could cause loss of propulsion

Tesla identified certain 2024 Cybertrucks built between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024, with specified MOSFETs in the drive inverter. The inverter could lose torque, causing loss of propulsion and potentially increasing collision risk. The production dates and component condition matter: the recall does not apply to all 2024 trucks. Tesla’s recall notice.

4. Rearview-camera image could take too long to appear

On October 3, 2024, the Associated Press reported that Tesla recalled more than 27,000 Cybertrucks because the rearview-camera image could remain blank for up to eight seconds after the driver shifted into reverse. AP said the federal requirement was for the image to activate within two seconds. This was a delayed display, not a reported camera hardware failure. Associated Press report.

5. Stainless-steel cantrail panel could separate

The cantrail is a stainless-steel exterior panel. Tesla said the panel on certain 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks could delaminate at its adhesive joint and separate from the vehicle. AP reported that the March 2025 recall covered 46,096 vehicles and identified a potential road hazard. Tesla’s recall notice; Associated Press report.

6. Front parking lamps could exceed the permitted output

Tesla says certain 2024, 2025, and 2026 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and October 11, 2025, and running software earlier than 2025.38.3, had front parking-lamp output above the permissible value under federal motor-vehicle safety standards. Tesla lists a firmware update as the remedy. Tesla’s recall notice.

Check whether a Cybertruck is affected

Recall eligibility is vehicle-specific. Use the VIN lookup on Tesla’s recalls page or NHTSA’s recall lookup. If a recall appears for the vehicle, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the remedy; do not assume that a model year alone confirms or rules out applicability.
