It is a sensible default only if its minimum height, reach and maximum lift suit your vehicle and the job. A jack’s capacity alone does not establish that it fits your vehicle or every lifting configuration.
Which Harbor Freight floor jack should you choose?
Start with the DS300LP if you want a low-profile steel jack and its published lift range works for the vehicle. Consider the DAYTONA long-reach model when you need more reach or a higher maximum lift, or the PITTSBURGH aluminum racing jack when its lower listed weight matters more than its higher minimum height. Published specifications help narrow the choice, but do not establish comparative durability or performance in independent testing.

Harbor Freight says the DS300LP complies with ASME-PASE standards and lists a 90-day defect warranty, subject to limitations and manual details. Check clearance, reach and lift height
Minimum height and maximum height answer different questions. Compare the jack’s minimum height with the clearance at the point where the saddle must enter; then check that its reach and maximum lift work for the specific lift point and task. A low-profile label does not guarantee that a jack will fit under every vehicle.

Match capacity and lifting points
Check the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions for approved lifting points and the jack’s rated capacity. Do not exceed that rating. The vehicle’s total weight by itself is not a complete selection rule: the proper jack, lift point and lifting configuration matter. Balance portability against access
The PITTSBURGH aluminum model is listed at 63.3 lb, lighter than the DS300LP at approximately 79 lb and the long-reach DAYTONA at 103 lb. Its listed 3-13/16 inch minimum height is also greater than the DS300LP’s 3-1/8 inches. Those figures make portability and vehicle clearance a real trade-off; they do not demonstrate which model is more durable.

Safe setup and lifting procedure
Harbor Freight’s 2024 DAYTONA manual requires a hard, level surface capable of supporting the load, a pre-use inspection, parking brake and wheel chocks, and slow lowering. Follow the vehicle and jack manuals for the specific vehicle and model.

- Park on a hard, level surface that can support the load. Apply the parking brake and chock the tires as directed by the manual.
- Inspect the jack before every use. Do not use it if parts are loose or damaged or hydraulic fluid is leaking.
- Position the jack only at a vehicle-maker-specified lift point. Never exceed the jack’s rated capacity, and keep clear while raising or lowering.
- After raising the vehicle, place appropriately rated jack stands at proper support points as directed by the vehicle and stand manufacturers. The DAYTONA manual instructs owners to use two stands at the same point on each side.
- Lower the vehicle slowly when the work is complete, following the jack manual.
Harbor Freight’s 2024 DAYTONA Low Profile Floor Jack Owner’s Manual & Safety Instructions warns: “Never work on, under or around a load supported only by this device.” A floor jack lifts the vehicle; it is not a substitute for properly placed stands during repair work. Read the manual

Model-specific maintenance
For the DAYTONA model covered by the 2024 manual, use non-detergent 22-weight hydraulic jack oil. Do not assume that oil specification applies to other jacks; check the exact model’s manual.
