Audi’s major new Formula One announcement is a campus project in Hinwil, Switzerland—not a fresh confirmation of its 2027 drivers. Audi Revolut F1 Team announced the plans on October 1, 2026: parts of the new campus are already operational, with full development scheduled for completion in 2030.
What is Audi building in Hinwil?
Audi plans to develop a new Formula One campus on Zurichstrasse, less than one kilometre from the team’s existing Hinwil base. The announcement describes a phased project rather than a completed relocation: parts were operational in summer 2026, while full development is scheduled to finish in 2030, according to Audi Revolut F1 Team’s October 1, 2026 announcement. Formula 1 also reported the campus plans.

What happens to the existing Hinwil site?
The current Wildbachstrasse facility is to remain fully operational while development proceeds. Audi says it will later be redeveloped as the team’s manufacturing centre and wind-tunnel operation. The announcement does not describe the new campus as a replacement that immediately empties the current base.

The Hinwil project is one part of Audi’s wider operating footprint. The team’s October 1 announcement says power-unit development and manufacturing will continue in Neuburg, Germany, and that Audi will retain its technical centre in Bicester, United Kingdom.

Why didn’t Audi announce its 2027 drivers?
A Yahoo Sports story listing says Audi bosses did not need to make a new announcement about Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto because both were already expected to stay for 2027. That is the listing’s explanation for the headline, not a separate driver announcement in Audi’s campus release. Yahoo’s article page was inaccessible, so the available information does not establish contract terms or provide further details about either driver.
The concrete new development in the accessible Audi and Formula 1 announcements is therefore infrastructure: a phased Hinwil campus project alongside continued use and planned redevelopment of the existing site, with power-unit work in Neuburg and the technical centre in Bicester remaining part of the operation.
