On Windows, the official versions are available through Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app for PC.
The game is free to download, but it requires an internet connection and includes in-app purchases. It combines licensed cars, arcade handling, TouchDrive assistance, manual controls, career events, cross-platform multiplayer, private lobbies, and vehicle customization.

How to download Asphalt Legends on Windows
There are two separate PC installations: the Steam version and the Microsoft Store/Xbox version. Installing one does not automatically copy local progress from the other.
Microsoft Store
- Open the Microsoft Store in Windows.
- Search for Asphalt Legends.
- Choose the listing published by Gameloft.
- Select the installation button and launch the game from Windows.
Check that you are selecting the main game rather than a separate token pack or another add-on. The Store catalog contains listings for both the game and purchasable extras.

Xbox app for PC
- Open the Xbox app.
- Search for Asphalt Legends.
- Select the result marked Free+.
- Click Install.
The Xbox listing identifies the game as playable on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere and cloud saves.
Steam
- Open Steam and select Store.
- Search for Asphalt Legends.
- Open the listing published by Gameloft.
- Select Play Game to begin the installation.
The Steam page may retain an older URL or app identifier associated with “Legends Unite,” but the current storefront title is Asphalt Legends.
Windows system requirements
For the Steam version, use Steam’s current requirements as the practical baseline rather than relying on older support information. Gameloft has also published a lower general minimum, but a PC close to that older threshold may launch without delivering acceptable frame rates or stability.

Gameloft’s separate support page lists a 4 GB RAM minimum and older graphics hardware such as Intel HD Graphics 4000, GeForce GT 420, or Radeon HD 5450. Treat that as a broad support floor, not a guarantee of smooth Steam performance. Laptops using power-saving graphics modes, shared memory, or outdated drivers can struggle even when the game technically starts.
Moving progress between Windows, Steam, and Xbox
Gameloft supports progress transfers between the Windows, Steam, and Xbox versions. This is not the same as assuming that two installations will detect each other automatically.
- Open the game on the platform containing your progress.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Connect.
- Generate the transfer code.
- Open the new installation and enter the code when prompted.
Do not share the transfer code. Anyone who obtains it may be able to compromise the account, and Gameloft warns that sharing codes can violate its terms.
You can also use the account-linking route from the main menu: select the gear icon, open the Gameloft Connect tab, choose Connect, and follow the instructions. An account cannot be linked to more than one game account. Depending on local data-protection rules, the option may also be unavailable to underage users.

Cross-save should not be described as universal. Gameloft’s normal progress synchronization excludes PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, even though cross-play is available across supported platforms.
Multiplayer and cross-play
Windows players can race against competitors on other supported platforms. Online races support up to eight players, and the game includes private lobbies, clubs, online co-op, and split-screen PvP on Steam.
Private rooms are useful when you want more control than public matchmaking provides. The host can configure options such as:
- Track
- Car class
- Racing mode
- Number of laps
- Other race parameters
Private rooms can also support spectators.
Team Pursuit
Team Pursuit becomes available through Multiplayer after reaching 21 Career Flags. It is not a normal free-choice team selector. Matchmaking assigns players to either side:

- Security Team: aims to reach five total knockdowns.
- Syndicate Team: aims to survive until the timer expires.
If you specifically want to play one role, the mode may be frustrating because Gameloft does not provide a free team-selection option.
Driving controls and useful menu paths
Changing the control scheme
- From the main menu, select the OPTIONS icon in the upper-right corner.
- Open Game Settings.
- Select Controls.
- Choose the preferred driving scheme.
On Windows, the support documentation’s touchscreen-oriented labels still refer to clickable menu items. Look for the Options button rather than expecting a physical touchscreen control.
Getting to the top menu with a controller
Some controller layouts no longer use upward navigation to open the top menu. Press the right stick as a button—R3—to access items such as Garage and Player Info.

Progressing through Career mode
Career events unlock through Flags. Completing races earns Flags, which opens additional seasons and events. A locked Career screen is therefore usually progression-related rather than a failed installation.
What the game offers
- Licensed performance cars: The roster includes manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Audi.
- Two driving approaches: TouchDrive simplifies steering and route choices, while manual controls give you more direct control.
- Career seasons: Career mode combines races, Flag requirements, seasons, and limited-time events.
- Online competition: Multiplayer includes cross-play, private rooms, clubs, and Team Pursuit.
- Customization: Cars can be modified with paint, rims, wheels, and body parts.
- Arcade physics: The focus is on jumps, nitro, takedowns, shortcuts, and spectacular routes rather than realistic simulation.
The free-to-play model is worth understanding before installing. The game is free to download and play, but it sells in-game items and includes paid random items. “Free” does not mean that every car, upgrade, or event is immediately available without spending.

Crashes and freezes
Gameloft lists several possible causes, including connectivity problems, outdated Windows or game files, insufficient memory, and power-saving settings. Before reinstalling, work through this order:
- Install pending Windows and game updates.
- Restart the PC.
- Confirm that the system meets the Steam requirements, especially the 8 GB RAM and DirectX 12 baselines.
- Update the graphics driver.
- Use the high-performance graphics or power profile on a laptop.
- Try the game again before removing and reinstalling it.
Steam has also required post-update hotfixes for reported PC and macOS crashes, so check the game’s Steam announcements when a problem begins immediately after an update.
Black or silent advertisement videos
On Windows, an advertisement video may show a black screen or play without sound. Gameloft identifies this as a known issue commonly associated with reaching the advertisement limit for the current period. Reinstalling Windows is not the appropriate first response.

Ads disappearing
Ad buttons are not guaranteed to remain available. The supply may be exhausted, or an account may have reached its current limit. That behavior does not necessarily indicate a damaged PC installation.
Strange multiplayer movement
Cars that suddenly appear, teleport, or move erratically can be caused by network conditions. Test another connection where possible, and remember that visual glitches in an online race do not automatically mean that the graphics card is failing.

Progress missing after changing stores
Steam and Microsoft Store installations are separate. If your garage is missing after switching versions, use Settings > Connect and the generated transfer code instead of starting a new account or repeatedly reinstalling the game.

It is a flashy arcade racer with strong multiplayer and a broad car roster, but its free-to-play label includes advertising and in-app purchases.
