The Honda CR-V offers more value if you want a hybrid option, higher maximum cargo capacity in Honda’s comparison, and several convenience features listed as standard across more trims. The Nissan Rogue has the lower published starting MSRP in the manufacturer data reviewed and competitive fuel economy in front-wheel-drive form. Which is the better buy depends on the trim, drivetrain, destination charges, dealer pricing and how you drive.

This is a U.S.-market comparison of the 2026 Honda CR-V and the 2026.5 Nissan Rogue. Their model-year labels and published price figures are not perfectly aligned, so compare specific vehicles rather than treating the starting prices as an out-the-door matchup.

Which SUV offers more for the money?

There is no universal winner based on these figures alone. The CR-V makes a stronger value case for shoppers who want a hybrid, prioritize maximum cargo space or want certain convenience features included on more trims. The Rogue is appealing if a lower entry price and efficient gas-powered front-wheel drive matter more.

Honda’s side-by-side comparison page declares the CR-V a “clear winner,” but that is the automaker’s own assessment, not an independent verdict. Its itemized specifications are useful for comparison; confirm equipment and pricing on the exact vehicles you are considering.

How do their published prices compare?

Honda’s January 6, 2026 U.S. pricing release lists the CR-V from $30,920 for the LX 2WD to $42,550 for the Sport Touring Hybrid AWD, before destination. Honda also lists destination-inclusive prices of $32,370 to $44,000. These figures exclude tax, license, registration, options and color upgrades, and Honda says dealer prices may vary. Honda’s 2026 CR-V pricing and EPA ratings

Nissan’s U.S. press kit lists the 2026.5 Rogue from $29,490 for the S FWD to $39,390 for the Platinum AWD. Those prices are effective April 1, 2026; the kit separately lists a $1,575 D&H charge and says MSRP excludes tax, title, license and destination charges. Nissan’s 2026.5 Rogue press kit

The Rogue’s listed entry MSRP is lower, but the price presentations do not use the same fee treatment: Honda provides destination-inclusive prices while Nissan lists D&H separately. Neither starting price establishes the actual transaction price or the amount you will pay after taxes, dealer charges, discounts or incentives.

What do you get at each price?

Compare equivalent trims and drivetrains, not just the cheapest versions. A base FWD Rogue and a higher-trim AWD CR-V are not like-for-like purchases. For a real comparison, get written quotes for the configurations you want and check the window sticker or build sheet for included equipment and dealer-added items.

  • Final cost: Include destination or D&H, dealer add-ons, taxes and fees, and any current offer that applies to your purchase.

Which gets better gas mileage?

For gas-powered FWD models, Nissan lists a 32 mpg combined estimate for the Rogue S, SV and Dark Armor, compared with 30 mpg combined for the CR-V LX, EX and EX-L 2WD. In AWD form, the listed gas CR-V ratings are 29 mpg combined, while most Rogue AWD trims are listed at 31 mpg; the Rogue Rock Creek AWD is listed at 29 mpg combined.

The CR-V’s hybrid trims have substantially higher EPA estimates than either gas-only lineup, though they also come at different trim prices. Honda lists up to 40 mpg combined for the Sport Hybrid 2WD. These are estimates for comparison, not a promise of real-world mileage: driving style, conditions and maintenance affect actual fuel use. Fuel economy alone cannot establish whether a hybrid is worth its added trim cost. That calculation depends on the actual prices you can buy at, fuel prices, annual mileage and driving conditions.

Which has more cargo space?

Honda’s comparison page gives the CR-V a maximum cargo capacity of 76.5 cu. ft., versus 72.9 cu. ft. for the Rogue. That is a Honda-produced comparison, and it does not establish that the two figures use identical measurement conditions. Honda’s CR-V-versus-Rogue comparison

Nissan’s own press kit reports 74.1 cu. ft. with the second row folded. For S, SV, Dark Armor and Rock Creek, it lists 31.6 cu. ft. behind the upright second row; the Platinum figure is 36.5 cu. ft. with Divide-N-Hide in its low position. These figures differ in presentation and configuration from Honda’s side-by-side numbers, so check the cargo layout and measurement basis for the specific vehicle. Which has more standard equipment?

Honda’s comparison reports automatic climate control on all CR-V trims, heated front seats from EX upward, and a rear-seat reminder and traffic-sign recognition across the CR-V lineup. In its Rogue comparison, Honda lists climate control as absent on the S, heated seats as unavailable on the S and extra-cost on the SV, and no rear-seat reminder. It also lists traffic-sign recognition as absent on the Rogue S, SV and Rock Creek.

Because that equipment comparison is published by Honda and trim equipment can vary with configuration, use it as a guide rather than a substitute for checking both vehicles’ build sheets. Honda notes that its traffic-sign recognition may misidentify signs, does not control speed or braking, and does not replace the driver’s responsibility. Honda’s feature comparison and safety-system caveats

Which should you choose?

Choose the CR-V if you want a hybrid or prioritize cargo

The CR-V is the more natural fit if you want a factory hybrid option, value its higher maximum-cargo figure in Honda’s comparison, or prefer the listed spread of standard convenience features. Compare the hybrid’s price with the gas model you would otherwise buy before assuming fuel savings will offset the difference.

Choose the Rogue if the entry price and gas FWD efficiency matter most

The Rogue is worth a close look if you want a gas-only SUV and the lowest published entry MSRP among these listings. Its FWD models’ listed combined estimate is slightly higher than the gas CR-V FWD figure. Confirm the complete price after destination-related charges and compare equivalent trims before treating that as a savings.

Use ownership costs that match your circumstances

Fuel is only one part of what a vehicle costs to own. Insurance, financing, maintenance and resale can change the value calculation, and the manufacturer specifications cited here do not establish buyer-specific or independent total-cost figures. Ask for quotes and estimates that reflect your location, selected trim and expected use.
