Why Toyota’s launch MSRP differs from its current listing
Toyota’s September 17, 2024 launch announcement gave an initial MSRP of $39,520 for the gas LE with front-wheel drive, excluding Dealer Processing and Handling. Toyota’s model page, accessed in 2026, lists the gas LE base MSRP as $40,320. These are figures from different Toyota sources and dates; the available information does not establish why they differ, so they should not be treated as interchangeable.

Gas or hybrid: what changes?
The gas lineup consists of LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum. The hybrid lineup consists of XLE, XLE Nightshade, Limited, Limited 25th Edition, and Platinum. Toyota identifies the hybrid powertrain as a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motor-generators.
Fuel economy and all-wheel drive
Toyota’s model-page estimates show gas grades at 21–22 mpg city and 28–29 mpg highway, depending on grade. Hybrid estimates are 35 mpg city and 34–35 mpg highway. These are Toyota estimates, not independent test results.

Gas LE and XLE are offered with front-wheel drive or electronically controlled all-wheel drive. Higher gas grades have Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD standard. Every 2025 Highlander Hybrid grade has Toyota Electronic On-Demand AWD.
Towing capacity
Toyota’s 2024 launch materials specify maximum towing capacities of 5,000 pounds for turbo gas grades and 3,500 pounds for Hybrid grades. These are manufacturer specifications; confirm the capacity for the exact vehicle configuration and equipment before towing.

Seating, cargo space, and equipment
Toyota lists seating for up to eight and cargo capacity of up to 84.3 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded. It lists 16.0 cubic feet behind the third row. Actual seating and usable cargo space depend on configuration and how the vehicle is equipped.
Toyota highlights a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, and four USB charge ports. Check the exact grade’s equipment listing for details on standard and available features.

Toyota’s September 17, 2024 announcement said the 2025 lineup was expected to begin arriving at U.S. dealerships in November 2024. That was a historical launch expectation, not evidence of current stock. Use Toyota’s inventory search or contact local dealers to check current availability, location-specific fees, offers, options, and actual transaction pricing.
