Stellantis appointed Joao Laranjo chief financial officer on September 29, 2025, effective immediately. He succeeded Doug Ostermann, who resigned for personal reasons, according to the automaker. Stellantis did not provide further detail about Ostermann’s departure.
Who replaced Doug Ostermann as Stellantis CFO?
Joao Laranjo became Stellantis CFO and a member of its Leadership Team on September 29, 2025. The company announced the appointment and said it took effect immediately. The change followed Ostermann’s resignation.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa described Laranjo as a longtime colleague, saying: “Having worked closely with Joao for 15 years and witnessed his rise through the ranks, I have consistently been impressed by his excellent financial acumen, results-driven mindset, and deep understanding of our industry’s complexities.” That is Filosa’s assessment of Laranjo, not an independent measure of his performance.
Why did Doug Ostermann leave Stellantis?
Stellantis said Ostermann resigned for personal reasons. Its September 29 announcement did not elaborate, so no more specific motive is established by the company’s statement.

Who is Joao Laranjo?
Stellantis described Laranjo as having more than two decades of finance and auditing experience. According to the company, he began his career at General Electric in 2001, including work as an associate auditor and later as a controller for GE Healthcare in South America. He joined Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2009.
The company says Laranjo took on increasing responsibility across finance functions at FCA and Stellantis. His experience included financial controlling and reporting, profit-and-loss management, treasury, financial planning and analysis, compliance, and accounting. Stellantis also cited his experience across markets and knowledge of the automotive sector.
