These ten are a practical shortlist—not a universal ranking or a promise that a particular vehicle is a good buy. iSeeCars’ 2026 rankings name different leaders at different price ceilings, and an individual SUV’s condition, history, and recall status still need to be checked.
Use the models below to narrow your search, then compare specific vehicles of the same year and trim. No single price cap or model year fits every entry: current asking prices and availability vary by location and condition.
How to use this shortlist
iSeeCars’ 2026 best-used luxury crossover rankings combine reliability, value retention, and safety dimensions, and identify a leader at each price ceiling. Its separate reliability rankings answer a different question: they use relative scores from 1 to 10 and also vary by budget. Those are publisher comparisons, not guarantees about a specific used vehicle.
For example, iSeeCars names the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC its leader under $15,000, the 2020 INFINITI QX60 under $20,000, the 2021 Audi Q5 under $25,000, and the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC under both $30,000 and $35,000. Under $40,000 it names the 2024 Acura RDX, and under $45,000 the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC. These are ranking results, not guaranteed transaction prices or advice that those exact years are right for every buyer.

For reliability alone, the same publisher ranks the 2020 Acura MDX first under $30,000 and the 2020 Lexus RX 350 first under $35,000. Its analysis says it draws on more than 12 million new and used vehicles, along with its longevity and five-year depreciation studies and NHTSA safety ratings. Treat that methodology as a comparative signal; it cannot tell you whether one particular example was maintained well.
Ten used luxury SUVs to put on your list
The categories below distinguish compact SUVs from larger midsize choices. Midsize does not automatically mean three rows, so check the configuration and seating capacity of the exact vehicle.

Compact choices for easier everyday sizing
Acura RDX. The RDX is a compact, two-row option for shoppers who want a smaller footprint than a three-row family SUV. Its appearance among current price-band leaders makes it worth comparing, but the 2024 under-$40,000 ranking is a publisher result, not a guarantee that a 2024 example will be available at that price in your area.

Audi Q5. The Q5 is another compact two-row candidate. iSeeCars places the 2021 model at the top of its composite ranking under $25,000. Compare the actual asking price, condition, and equipment rather than treating that ceiling as a market quote.

Those results illustrate how sharply the choice changes with budget and model year; they do not establish the cost of ownership or condition of any vehicle you find.
Midsize two-row choices
Lexus RX 350. The RX 350 deserves attention if reliability ranking is a priority: iSeeCars ranks the 2020 model first in its under-$35,000 reliability comparison. Check the exact RX version and seating layout, since configurations differ; the ranking does not replace an inspection or maintenance review.

BMW X5. The X5 is a midsize SUV with two rows, making it a fit for buyers who want more room than a compact model without needing a third row. IIHS lists the 2025 X5 as a Top Safety Pick+. Do not apply that award to other years or trims without checking the exact vehicle’s rating and equipment.
Three-row family options
Acura MDX. The MDX is a three-row candidate with a specific reliability signal: the 2020 model leads iSeeCars’ under-$30,000 reliability list. IIHS awards Top Safety Pick+ to 2022 and 2024–25 MDX models, but awards for those years do not establish the safety award status of every used MDX.
INFINITI QX60. The QX60 offers three rows and appears as iSeeCars’ composite leader under $20,000 for the 2020 model. That makes it a useful budget search target when passenger capacity matters; compare the vehicle’s history and condition as carefully as its asking price.

Audi Q7. The Q7 is a midsize three-row alternative for shoppers who need more seating than a Q5 provides. It appears in iSeeCars’ midsize segment comparisons, but the cited rankings do not establish a particular Q7 model year as the best value or most reliable choice.
Mercedes-Benz GLE. The GLE is a midsize choice, but confirm the exact seating configuration rather than assuming that every example has a third row. IIHS lists Top Safety Pick+ awards for 2021–22 GLE-Class vehicles with optional front crash prevention, and for 2024–25 GLE vehicles with optional pedestrian front crash prevention. Equipment matters to the award.
Volvo XC90. The XC90 is the three-row choice in this group. IIHS lists Top Safety Pick+ awards for 2021–22 and 2024 XC90 models. Those year-specific awards are a useful filter, not a substitute for checking the exact vehicle’s safety equipment, condition, and recall record.

Check the exact SUV before you buy
- Set your ceiling and seating requirement. Decide whether your budget includes only the purchase price or also leaves room for taxes, insurance, maintenance, and repairs. Confirm whether you need two or three rows, then eliminate vehicles that do not meet that need.
- Compare examples by year, trim, and equipment. Ranking results and safety awards do not transfer automatically across years or configurations. Verify the specific year and safety equipment when using an IIHS award as part of your decision.
- Look up recalls for the candidate. Use NHTSA’s official recall lookup with the vehicle’s VIN or identifying details. A model-level ranking cannot establish whether a particular SUV has an open recall.
- Review available records and arrange an independent inspection. Ask for service records and have a qualified independent mechanic inspect the individual vehicle. A history report may surface reported damage, mileage, maintenance, ownership, or recall signals, but it can only reflect information available to that provider.
- Judge the vehicle, not just the badge. Compare the asking price with local examples of the same year and trim, and weigh documented condition and service history more heavily than a model’s position in a broad ranking.
What the rankings and awards can—and cannot—tell you
A composite “best used” ranking and a reliability ranking are not interchangeable. The former combines several dimensions, while the latter focuses on the publisher’s comparative reliability data. Neither one measures the maintenance or accident history of the SUV in front of you.
IIHS awards also have boundaries. Its 2021 award list names Top Safety Pick+ for 2021–22 Volvo XC90 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class models, with optional front crash prevention required for the GLE, and for the 2022 Acura MDX. Its 2024 list names Top Safety Pick+ for 2024–25 Acura MDX, 2025 BMW X5, 2024–25 Genesis GV80 built after August 2023, 2024–25 GLE with optional pedestrian front crash prevention, and 2024 Volvo XC90. These awards apply to the listed model years and stated conditions—not automatically to every older used example or trim.
Prices, local inventory, recall status, and the condition of used vehicles change. Treat ranking price ceilings as search context, then verify current listings and the VIN-specific record before committing.
